Waterloo Pioneers Memorial Tower NHS, Kitchener Ontario
In 1800, Conestoga wagons carried Pennsylvania-German Mennonite pioneers to Waterloo County's first two farms along the Grand River near Doon. Through W. H. Breithaupt, president of the Waterloo Historical Society, Ottawa declared it a national historic site on June 24, 1924. The memorial tower, opened on August 28, 1926, honours these pioneers who formed Ontario's first large inland settlement.

Waterloo Region Museum
Michael Reddekopp and I visit the Waterloo Region Museum off of Homer Watson Blvd. on Huron Rd. in Kitchener Ontario. We got a chance to explore the fascinating museum filled with the history of the tri-city area (Cambridge, Kitchener & Waterloo), cultures and nature. A big surprise exhibit that strolled right into the museum took us to a different place where trapeze acts, tightrope walkers, clowns, etc. call home.

First flight with the GoPro attached to my drone. Unfortunately it was rather windy so controlling the drone was very difficult and ended with a bent prop.
Pioneer Tower
The Pioneer Tower in Kitchener Ontario as viewed by drone on April 8, 2016. It's a heritage point of interest in the Waterloo area. I had never known there was a weather vane shaped like a Conestoga Wagon at the top the tower. What you don't see from a different perspective!
