As people pass or stop in front of any one of the different creatures between dusk and midnight, the Urbanimals wake up. This magically interactive project was created using projectors and sensors and stretched across the whole city of Bristol UK in hidden locations.
A playful pack of wild creatures created by Polish architects LAX (Laboratory of Architectural Experiments) that people could play with after dark for two months .
Citizens of Bristol had the opportunity to leap with a graceful dolphin, chase a shy rabbit, find the secretive beetle or skip with a cheeky kangaroo. Lurking behind walls, hiding in dark corners, the Urbanimals were waiting in unexpected places across Bristol and were eager to play with passers by.
Urbanimals helped people rediscover the magic in the city; giving a fresh perspective on spaces we might ignore, we might forget, we might despise.

Check out this trailer for a new interactive art and technology project coming to Bristol, UK in Sept 2015. Curious creatures appear in unexpected areas of the city, lifting your spirit with an invitation encouraging you to play. A dolphin, rabbit, kangaroo and beetle appear in places where people don't often contemplate their surroundings, creating unexpected moments in familiar spaces and encouraging us to see the city-scape in a more creative way.
Interested in this kind of art and tech project? This project is the award-winner of Watershed's Playable City Award 2015, which puts people and play at the heart of the city of the future. Find out more about Playable City:
Urbanimals is brought to you by LAX, an award winning experimental, urban and architectural think tank operating since 2011. It practices at the edge of architecture, urban planning, design, psychology and computation. LAX use urban details to highlight a city’s hidden value, in the same manner Banksy gives deeper sense to dilapidated building walls. More on LAX: lax.com.pl

Unfixed | Arts, Disability & Technology | Watershed
Unfixed is a creative research project involving ten Australian and UK disabled artists investigating the intersection between arts, disability and technology.
The artists spent two weeks exploring the notions of the 'fixed' and 'unfixed' body through the lens of art and creative technology during their first residency in Adelaide (November 2015), and then a week developing and prototyping new project ideas at the Pervasive Media Studio in Bristol (September 2016).
Unfixed is produced by The Australian Network for Art & Technology (ANAT), Access2Arts (AUS), Unlimited (UK) and Watershed (UK).
