Bragg Creek Visit - 2017
Take a tour of Bragg Creek to see what it it's like to live. work and play here. We live hidden in the forested foothills of the Rocky Mountains, 40 minutes west of Calgary, Alberta. The community has an interesting history, influenced by the Elbow River and the wild lands that surround us, providing a venue for outdoor adventure that sustains us and those who come to visit.
Sulphur Springs Loop - Bragg Creek day hike with my wife Karen
A warm Chinook blew into Calgary this weekend. The temperature passed from -10C to +12C overnight, so Karen and I decided to go for a little afternoon hike in the forest.
We chose the Sulphur Sprongs Loop south of Bragg Creek. This loop is often used for mountain bike races because it offers a variety of challenging terrain packed into a rollercoaster course. Excellent for a pre-season hike to get the muscles going. We did the hike in a clockwise direction to get the climbs out of the way early.
Total distance is 10.6 km, with 250m of elevation gain and 125m of elevation loss. Staging area is about 10 km south of the village of Bragg Creek on highway 66 at the Paddy's Flat recreation area parking.

Day Trip to Cobble Flats in Kananaskis (4K) | Journey Alberta
Today I travel out to the Cobble Flats Day Use area in Kananaskis. While there I look for a place to have a fire and roast up some food. I also fly my DJI Phantom 3 4K around the Elbow River, and before I leave Kananaskis I stop at Elbow Falls to enjoy a peaceful time alone at the usually busy area.
Shot on a Panasonic G7 at 4K/24fps, a GoPro Hero 4, and a DJI Phantom 3 4K.
Stabilized using a Glidecam XR1000, with camera mounted to a Manfrotto quick release plate
Audio Recorded Using a Rode Video Mic with Rycote Lyre Suspension System
Tripod used is a Manfrotto with a fluid head
Edited on Adobe Premiere Pro CC

Commercial logging in the West Bragg Creek area of Kananaskis
Many people think the Elbow Valley and Sibbald districts of Kananaskis should be a park. Many more think they already are. Think Park when you view this video.
A brief look at the cutblock adjacent to the Boundary Ridge trail. The audio is the information contained on a poster on display in the West Bragg Creek parking lot which lists the events and approvals obtained that enable Spray Lakes Sawmills to log a popular and important natural habitat; the source for 40 percent of the water supply for the city of Calgary.

Bragg Creek, Alberta, 2013 Flood Walk-through
This video starts at the Hwy 22 intersection at Bragg Creek and headd west toward Elbow Falls. This is footage at about 4pm MST on June 20, 2013. Bragg Creek runs alongside the Elbow River in Alberta and experienced massive flooding throughout the townsite. There are expectations that Southern Alberta will receive more significantly more rain over the next 48-72 hours, which causes increased concern for areas including Bragg Creek, Canmore, High River, and Okotoks.
Ever get your butt kicked by a dude in pink? | Mountain Biking West Bragg Creek in Alberta, Canada
My trip to Canada came to a close on a pretty fun little trail system near Calgary called West Bragg Creek. Laura from Alberta 66 (link below) joined Aric and I for a really cool ride. I need to get in better shape! This video felt a lot like my early “lone wolf” videos where I had a lot of time to talk to myself.

Started out slow but after we left trail and hit the creek it was way more fun! Not a bad little spot, we saw next to no one out there. I'd go again :)
