Oldest Settlement in Britain? Older than Stonehenge C.8500 BC
Greasby now has new boundary signs to mark the historical discovery that the area contains the earliest dated settlement in Western Britain - and one of the oldest in the country. C8500BC
The work that led to the latest ‘dating’ of Greasby began with excavations near Greasby Copse between 1987 and 1990 by archaeologists from Liverpool Museum.
They uncovered a substantial settlement complete with a stone floor, pits, large working hollows and fireplace together with more than 12,000 early stone tools.
Now everyone who visits or passes through Greasby will know the significance of the village.”

Half an Hour at (97) - Hoylake Manor Road Station 11.4.2015 - Wirral Merseyrail
Video 97 comes from the first stop on my afternoon tour around the Wirral. Manor Road is one of two stations which serve the town of Hoylake, and lies down a narrow pathway behind a row of terraced houses. Merseyrail provide regular EMU services between West Kirby and Liverpool. This station opened in 1940 to serve the growing commuter town which is famous as one of the venues of the Open Golf Championship at the Royal Liverpool Golf Club.

My trip to the Spaceport centre in Seacombe over in the Wirral with lots of cool Doctor Who props, I also go on The Mersey Ferry.
