Pueblo County is located in the southeaster quadrant of Colorado. There are 2,386 square miles of land and only 12 square miles of water.

STORYLINE:
A powerful snowstorm dumped 18 inches of snow in parts of the Colorado mountains on Thursday.
The storm spread eastward, snarling traffic and shutting down dozens of school districts.
The National Weather Service said snow was falling at a rate of about 3 inches an hour in the southeast Denver area at one point.
Red Cross officials sent supplies to Byers, about 50 kilometres (30 miles) east of Denver, in case the weather stranded travellers along Interstate 70, the state's main east-west route.
But some locals said this was not as bad as the weather could get.
It's probably a seven, on a scale of one to ten, Bruce Yoder said as he drove through the storm.
Avalanche experts said recent storms have left a snowpack of up to 2 feet in the mountains and several avalanches had already been reported, including 10 in the past week on the east side of Ten Mile Range in Summit County.
A forecaster from the Colorado Avalanche Information Centre said recent snowfall did not bond well with the snow surface from a late-September storm, creating ripe conditions for avalanches.
A 207 kilometre (125 mile) corridor from Colorado Springs to the New Mexico border was under a blizzard warning.
The storm left wet and slushy highways in cities from Pueblo to Colorado Springs and Denver to Fort Collins.
A jack-knifed tractor-trailer blocked part of Interstate 25 near Colorado Springs, where visibility was down to two to three feet.
Up to 80 outbound flights were cancelled on Thursday at Denver International Airport, mostly on United Airlines, the airport's busiest carrier.
On Colorado's wide-open Eastern Plains, residents and emergency managers braced for blowing snow and wind forecast to reach up to 76 kilometre per hour (45 miles per hour).

Greenhorn Mountain is the highest summit of the Wet Mountains range in the Rocky Mountains of North America. The prominent 12,352-foot (3,765 m) peak is located in the Greenhorn Mountain Wilderness of San Isabel National Forest, 5.2 miles (8.4 km) southwest by west (bearing 238°) of the Town of Rye, Colorado, United States, on the boundary between Huerfano and Pueblo counties. The summit of Greenhorn Mountain is the highest point in Pueblo County, Colorado. The peak's summit rises above timberline, which is about 11,500 feet (3,500 m) in south-central Colorado.

Bartlett Trailhead, San Isable National Forest, Colorado
According to the USDA Forest Service's website, the Bartlett Trail is about 19.47 kilometres (12.1 miles) long starting at an elevation of 2,438 metres (8,000 feet) and gains 1,091 metres (3,580 feet) to 3,529 metres (11,580 feet) elevation. The trailhead is located in the San Isable National Forest in Pueblo County, Colorado near the town of Rye.
In another video on my channel I feature the trail register that's located 50 metres or so further up from this trailhead.
The Bartlett Trail provides access to the Greenhorn Wilderness Area, Greenhorn Mountain (featured in my other videos on this channel), and other points of interest to outdoor enthusiasts.
Directions:
Access - The Bartlett Trail has two Trailhead access points.
The first Trailhead is located near the town of Rye, Colorado Southwest of State Highway 165. Head West through the town of Rye on main street, then left on Boulder, Then left on Graneros road, right on Hunter, then right on Baxter.
The second Trailhead is located off Forest Service Road # 369. To get to F.S. #369 travel on State Highway 165 to Ophir Creek Forest Service Road # 360. Travel on F.S. Road #360 for 12 miles, then left on Greenhorn Road F.S. #369 to the end of the road which is about 17 miles.

Paria Canyon/Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness - A Lasting Legacy
In Utah, the spectacular Paria Canyon/Vermillion Cliffs Wilderness Area is about 45 miles east of Kanab. The Wilderness area encompasses 112,000 acres of redrock canyons and upthrust fault mountains.
Coyote Buttes is a Special Management Area of the Paria Canyon/Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness. It has become one of the most popular destinations for many people visiting the Colorado Plateau. It is colorful but fragile Navajo Sandstone slickrock. The attraction is the thin ledges that swirl in wild contours of color and stone that are Coyotte Buttes Northvery brittle and breakable. It has grown as an attraction over the years due to the many published photographs and other media coverage of this small area. Nature has fully used its imagination to converge with the appreciation of our individual minds in all their variety of thought and wonder.
Before highways and railways, before pioneers, even before Columbus...the land we know as the United States was truly a vast wilderness. To protect these last remaining areas, in 1984, Congress created the Paria Canyon/Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness. Coyote Buttes' outstanding scenery, desert wildlife, colorful history, and opportunities for primitive recreation will remain free from the influence of man and are protected in this condition for future generations. Its 112,000 acres beckon adventurers who yearn for solitude, scenic splendor, and the chance to explore one of the most beautiful geologic formations in the world.

Rocky Mountain National Park - Colorado

This gave us easy access to Rocky Mountain National Park. From Mexico to Alaska, for 2,700 miles the great Rocky Mountain chain forms the backbone of North America, the world's longest mountain barrier. We explored the Trail Ridge Rd which is the highest major highway in North America topping out at 12, 183 feet above sea level. Here is one of the most expansive areas of Alpine terrain in the United States. Nearly one-third of the park is above treeline - 11,400 feet of elevation in the park, the limit above which conditions are too harsh for trees to grow. The park holds 72 named peaks above 12,000 feet of elevation. Long's Peak is at 14,259 feet.
