THERE AIN’T NO PARTY LIKE THE WHARF REVUE PARTY.
“No political party is left unstoned, nor cultural shibboleth unmauled.” Stagenoise
In 2015, The Wharf Revue turns 15. Or is it 16? Everyone is getting too old to care about birthdays, but we do care about satire. So, once more unto the political breach step Jonathan Biggins, Drew Forsythe and Phillip Scott with their signature style of seriously side-splitting satirical silliness and musical mayhem.
As ever, there will be up-to-the-second sketches on whichever cultural malaise or governmental gaffe is news of the day. But no birthday party is complete without a dose of nostalgia, so you can also count on a parade of past indignitaries – a who’s who of 21st century embarrassments, from the politicians to the celebrities. Who will make the cut? Who has the numbers in the caucus room? It’s anyone’s guess.
Rest assured, that whomsoever should return, there will be song, there will be dance and there will be some very silly wigs.
If you have yet to experience a night with The Wharf Revue, make this year the one. Laughter is guaranteed.

TALK
By Jonathan Biggins
John Waters plays a radio talkback host with a city in the palm of his hand. He fills Sydney’s airwaves with biting wit and easy answers, hard facts be damned.
Yesterday, he overstepped the mark. Today, the police have come knocking and a trial-by-media threatens to get out of control.

The Wharf Revue
The Wharf Revue
15-26 September 2015
Over 15 years and 21 shows, they’ve mercilessly mocked all the usual suspects. We’ve watched Howard Tampa with refugees, Rudd give pennies from Kevin, Gillard refuse to be lectured by “that man”, “that man” scrap the carbon tax, stop the boats and – um – get the budget back into surplus… But no one has been able to outplay, outwit or outlast The Wharf Revue. So, we’re throwing a party and everyone’s invited.
This year, The Wharf Revue will be a parade of past and present indignitaries – a who’s who of 21st century embarrassments, from the politicians to the celebrities – all skewered on the stake of seriously side-splitting satirical silliness and musical mayhem.
Who will make the cut? Who has the numbers in the caucus room? It’s anyone’s guess.

Q&A is a television discussion program that focuses mostly on politics but ranges across all of the big issues that set Australians thinking, talking and debating.
It is driven by interaction: Q&A provides a rare opportunity for Australian citizens to directly question and hold to account politicians and key opinion leaders in a national public forum and Q&A is broadcast live so that not only the studio audience but also the wider audience can get involved.
We aim to create a discussion that is constructive, that reflects a diverse range of views and that provides a safe environment where people can respectfully discuss their differences.
It’s impossible to represent every view on a single panel or in one audience but we’re committed to giving participants a fair go.
In order to be as inclusive and diverse as possible, the program is presented from a range of locations around the country and all Australians are encouraged to get involved through social media as well as by joining the audience.
This is an official Australian Broadcasting Corporation YouTube channel.
Wharf revue warms cockles
Sydney's annual Wharf Revue cast have been sending up politicians of all colours.
The Wharf Revue 2016 – Canberra Theatre Centre 13–24 September
We’ve had a long election year… so finally sit back, relax and let The Wharf Revue team deliver a laugh out loud politically charged night filled with a smorgasbord of satirical goodies including songs and dancing inspired by (according to Paul Keating) the straight men, fixers and maddies who represent us.
From the movers to the shakers, from the winners to the losers, the stage will be filled with a year’s worth of foolishness.
“What’s so brilliant…is how the material constantly falls between sharp, incisive satire and deliriously cheap gaps.” – Daily Review

Travelling to Sydney and never been to Woolloomooloo? Here are some more interesting things about Woolloomooloo.
Woolloomooloo is a harbourside, inner-city eastern suburb of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Woolloomooloo is 1.5 kilometres east of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the City of Sydney. It is in a low-lying, former docklands area at the head of Woolloomooloo Bay, on Sydney Harbour. The Domain sits to the west, the locality of East Sydney is near the south-west corner of the suburb and the locality of Kings Cross is near the south-east corner. Potts Point is immediately to the east.
Woolloomooloo was originally a working-class district of Sydney and has only recently changed with the gentrification of the inner city areas of Sydney. The redevelopment of the waterfront, particularly the construction of the housing development on the Finger Wharf, has caused major change.

Woolloomooloo is home to the Finger Wharf, known for its remarkable size. It is 400 metres (1,310 ft) long and 63 m (210 ft) wide and stands on 3,600 piles.
The Sydney Harbour Trust built the Finger Wharf, or Woolloomooloo Wharf, between 1911 and 1915 with the charter to bring order to Sydney Harbour's foreshore facilities. The wharf became the largest wooden structure in the world. The area's commerce was dominated by shipping at the wharf and by the regular influx of sailors and officers from the Garden Island base of the Royal Australian Navy.
In the mid-1990s the wharf was renovated into 300 private residential apartments and a boutique hotel with 104 guest rooms. It also has several restaurants and bars, including the popular Water Bar, frequented by many visiting celebrities. At first the hotel was launched as W Sydney - Woolloomooloo and was the W Hotels brands' first internationally launched property outside of the United States. The hotel's licensing expired in 2007 and rebranded as Blue Hotel, managed by Taj Hotels & Resorts. Notable residents include actor Russell Crowe, who lives in a $14 million penthouse which as a result has become famous in Australia and abroad and one of the most expensive and sought after places in the country. Another prominent resident is controversial former Australian radio presenter John Laws.
The Andrew Boy Charlton Pool, sits on the western side of Woolloomooloo Bay, amongst the Royal Botanic Gardens.

Tusk Tusk
By Polly Stenham
She'll be calling soon. She's never left them alone for this long before.
An unfurnished flat, strewn with unpacked removal boxes and unsupervised by adults, would be a veritable playground for any child yet for Maggie, fourteen, Eliot, fifteen, and Finn, seven, this space has become a fortress. As they joke, tease, spit like fireworks and laugh like soul mates, they also hide from a terrible truth: All three of them are hanging by a silent mobile phone.
Dancing a fine line between hilarity and heartache, Tusk Tusk is the new offering from 22-year-old English sensation, Polly Stenham (That Face). Sydney Theatre Company teams up with ATYP to present the Australian premiere season of this haunting work that will stay with you long after you have left the theatre.
From 14 August, Wharf 1, Sydney Theatre Company
