#40 Exploring St Dunstan's and Whitehall
Meeting up with my friend Patricia in Cheam Village in the London Borough of Sutton, we take a local walk around St Dunstan's Churchyard (...including a Paranormal Flashback at Lumley Chapel from 2007!) before visiting the newly re-furbished Tudor Building of Whitehall. Whitehall is a timber-framed historic house museum in the centre of Cheam Village, Surrey UK. It is thought to have been a wattle and daub yeoman farmer's house originally. It is Grade II* listed on Historic England's National Heritage List.
Recorded: Sunday 5th August 2018

Royal Britain: An Aerial History of the Monarchy (British History Documentary) | Timeline
Check out our new website for more incredible history documentaries: HD and ad-free.
British History is punctuated throughout with legendary stories of Kings and Queens, Princes and Princesses, Dukes and Duchesses, who have all played a vital role in shaping the Britain we know today.
Beautifully filmed from the air, Royal Britain tells the story of the monarchy through the places that bore witness to murder, romance, politics, execution and celebration. We explore the sweeping landscapes where battles were fought for the crown and dynasties changed.
Current day Britain was eventually formed after centuries of war between England, Scotland and Wales. The castles, palaces and houses where these battles were masterminded and fought still exist to connect the thread of Royalty from the Norman invasion in 1066 up to the present House Of Windsor. This is a unique aerial look at the history of the monarchy that will inform and entertain.

How Aldwych Station saved the Sutton Hoo treasures during the blitz
On 23 August 1939 it was announced in the press that the Anglo-Saxon treasures recently excavated at Sutton Hoo had been given to the British Museum. These amazing objects would be displayed in their entirety, for anyone to see, free of charge. But just hours later, the Museum was preparing to put the Sutton Hoo finds back underground.
Why? The British Museum had just received a message from Whitehall. War with Germany was imminent, and the Museum was to evacuate the most important objects to locations beyond the reach of the expected aerial attacks on London.
This is the story of how an unused tube tunnel, in an underused and unfinished London underground station, was used to protect thousands of British Museum objects from the Blitz.
