Whitney-On-Wye, Herefordshire - ringing St Simons
Ringing a post-quarter course of St Simons on this cracking five, originally cast in 1740 by William Evans of Chepstow when the church was rebuilt following the terrible flood of that year which destroyed the church and village. The 4th was recast in 1869 by Blews of Birmingham but blends in well, and Mears & Stainbank rehung the bells in a new steel frame in 1906, fitting ball bearings at a later date. The bells handle beautifully and, as will be heard, sound lovely. In between the tenor and 4th ropes is a deep hole in the floor, now covered, but it still makes me nervous! Whitney has been one of the most-pealed five bell towers and rightly so because the bells are a joy to ring.

Hay-on-Wye: UK's Town of Books
In an age when the unceasing invention of digital gadgets is encroaching on the enjoyment of reading paper books, there's a small town in the UK sticking to the old tradition. Internationally renowned as the Town of Books, Hay-on-Wye in Wales is literally piled with used books, from recently published titles to second-hand books dating back 300 years.
Three-on-Wye
The railway from Hereford to Brecon incorporated parts of the historic Hay Railway which had opened as early as 1816. Nevertheless, despite its ancient origins, it was slated for closure on the last day of 1962. Worked by the Midland Railway and its successors since 1869 it ran along the Wye Valley and three of its stations incorporated the words -on-Wye in their titles. We see all three in its last year of operation and, keeping to the Three theme, its junction with the Mid-Wales line of the GWR at Three Cocks.
