Avoid this tourist SCAM in Colombo, Sri Lanka. ????????
When travelling in Sri Lanka as a foreigner you'll no doubt be approached by men who try to appear as friendly citizens. They will attempt to coax you to somewhere, such as a beautiful temple that you must go and see. Watch as this man follows me through the streets, desperately trying to convince me to go see the (fake) Tsunami Temple, despite me showing zero interest in it.
These scammers and their cheap tricks are not representative of the genuine good people of Sri Lanka. Unfortunately, as foreigner, they will be seeking you out so it would be easy to think that every local is bad when in fact it's a very small number of bad people.

FIRST TIME IN SRI LANKA - Best things to do in Colombo
It is our first time in Sri Lanka and what a beautiful country it is! We found the best things to do in Colombo city and will take you guys to see local Sri Lankan culture, street markets, and temples. Come along to see some of the most famous places in Sri Lanka!
We started off our Sri Lanka trip by taking a self guided Colombo city tour. Because it is our first time in Sri Lanka, we wanted to dive right into the local culture, so we headed to the Pettah district. The Pettah Market in Sri Lanka is a famous local street market in one of the oldest districts in all of Colombo city. When we arrived, the market was filled with people, vendors, street food, and signage all over. Talk about sensory overload! If you are looking to experience the real Sri Lankan culture, don’t miss visiting Pettah during your Colombo travel day.
Next up, we remained in the Pettah district and visited Jami Ul Alfar Mosque, otherwise known as the Red Mosque of Sri Lanka. This place was absolutely stunning and is one of the oldest mosques built in Colombo Sri Lanka dating back to 1905. The candy stripe appeal is what brought us there, but the architecture and history is fantastic as well. Although tourists aren’t able to visit much of the mosque, we were happy to visit and take a look around.
Heading outside of Pettah, we rode our first Sri Lankan tuk tuk to Colombo 02. Although Colombo is one of the biggest cities in Sri Lanka, the ride only took us about 15 minutes from Pettah to Colombo 02. When you come to Colombo Sri Lanka, don’t miss the fantastic buddhist temples which are so different from any we’ve seen across Southeast Asia. We visited both Gangaramaya Temple and and Seema Malakaya. They were beautiful.
If you’re wondering what to do in Colombo Sri Lanka, this video will serve as a great guide for things you can see in just one day. Many travelers skip over Colombo while visiting Sri Lanka, but it has some of the best places in Sri Lanka in terms of culture and liveliness. If you’re interested in more Sri Lanka travel vlog videos, you’re in luck! We have a full month of videos coming showing you the best cities in Sri Lanka along with the most stunning beaches in Southern Sri Lanka.

Tuk Tuk Scammers Colombo Sri Lanka 2016
You should visit this site if you're going to Sri Lanka
I read about scammers in Colombo Sri Lanka who lure people that are alone and vulnerable into their Tuk Tuk with the intention to rob them. I read about one girl who was lured into a Tuk Tuk by a man who befriended her on the street and told her it was a special day and there was a big ceremony a short distance away. As he was talking a Tuk Tuk pulled up and the man told her it was a government Tuk Tuk with a meter and was very cheap, he showed her a coin and put it next to the sign on the number plate as proof it was a genuine government Tuk Tuk..The girl fell for the story and got into the Tuk Tuk and was taken to a remote part where she was forced to pay a fare of $100 dollars or be stranded. She paid out of fear. I was testing out my GoPro camera when I was approached by a man who told a similar story I left my camera running and pretended to show some interest. I knew they were scammers from the start. There are no government Tuk Tuks in Sri Lanka.

How authentic is a Scottish hotel in Sri Lanka? Are there any deep-fried Mars Bars on the room service menu? Can I get a glass of Irn Bru from their Scottish pub? Follow me as I take a wee look.
The Steuart Hotel is located in the Colombo Fort area and is a great location if you're travelling in and out by train as it's near the city's main railway station.

Karnataka vs Sri Lanka Karnataka state Sri Lanka country Karnataka view Sri Lanka view
Contact: topvideosuma@gmail.com
The modern state of Karnataka was created on 1 November 1956,
with the passage of the States Re-organisation Act.
Earlier the state was known as the State of Mysore,
it was renamed Karnataka in 1973.
The state is associated with a horde of historical activities since the ancient prehistoric civilization.
The earliest of recorded history dates back more than two millenniums. The Satavahana dynasty ruled for around 300 years from 230 BCE till 3rd Century CE. This period led to the kingdom
being given an independent stature and the Kannada language
gave an administrative status.
After Independence, the Mysore State was created in 1953,
wherein all the Kanada dominant areas under different dispensations
were unified and the enlarged Mysore state carved in 1956 and was
renamed Karnataka in 1973. The word “Karnataka” is derived from
the Kannada words “Karu” and “Nadu” which means “Elevated Land”.
Karnataka is the place where the two main river systems of India flow out to the Bay of Bengal. These are the river Krishna and Kaveri.
Srilanka
Just located southeast of India, Sri Lanka is a hidden gem of the Indian Ocean. Beyond its ancient ruins, beautiful beaches, and amazing wildlife, the island nation has many other stories to uncover. Sri Lanka is known for these two lovely names. Pearl of the Indian Ocean is given to this small island nation probably due to its incredible natural beauty, extraordinary biodiversity as well as its precious gemstones. Besides, the island has a teardrop shape and is off the coast of India, which is easier to see from the map. That’s why it is also called teardrop of India.

Exploring Sri Lanka's Peaceful City. ????????
After a 6 and a half hour train journey from Colombo we arrived in Jaffna, the capital city of Sri Lanka's northern province.
Jaffna is so far from other points of interest in Sri Lanka that I hadn't visited up until now. We took the first morning train so that we'd arrive just after midday and not waste a whole day travelling.
My hotel, North Gate by Jetwing was conveniently right next to the train station so no need to deal with the tuk-tuk guys. At 11,000 rupees (without breakfast) I felt like it was overpriced for the size of the room and hotel facilities. My friend Jeremy stayed at a nearby hotel that was much cheaper and was just as good as mine. Check out Jeremy's channel here:
Our first mission was to explore for food outside of our hotels. We went searching for seafood but somehow ended up at some local vegetarian joint where we ate some stale Dosa.
Our exploration of Jaffna by foot eventually led us to Jaffna Fort which is amazingly free to enter. Tourism is so low in Jaffna that they haven't yet though about screwing over the foreigners with absurd ticket prices like they do in places like Sigirya and Horton Plains National Park.
Apart from a few that came off the train I didn't see another white face the whole day. Although Jaffna is easily accessible by train from Colombo, it doesn't fit in well with a typical tourist's itinerary. Especially if they are either limited by time. You would have to take another 6-9 hour train journey back to Colombo before taking another 7 hour train journey to somewhere like Ella or Sigiriya. It seemed that every bus only went to Colombo too. We tried and failed to find a bus to Kandy.
I found Jaffna to be a peaceful and relaxing city to explore by foot. There's no touts harassing you and no scammers targeting tourists, just genuine people going about their everyday lives.
At the end of the day I did get that Jaffna Seafood Curry and was feeling pretty good about the day's adventures.

Top 5 Places to eat in Colombo Sri Lanka - Food Tour Sri Lankan - Restaurants in Colombo -
A short trip around Colombo in Sri Lanka to check out our top 5 places to eat. This is taken from Part 1 of of our Food doc.
I am joined by my good friend Arqam, a local with a nose for good food who is going to take us to 5 spots in Colombo he thinks are worth a look. Lets Go.
1) Pilawoos (Cheesy Chicken PALANDI Kottu)
Pilawoos is a street food late night institution, it has been going for years, has a few branches around town and is a great place for a cheap midnight snack. We are going for the Cheesy Chicken Kottu. Cheap, tasty a must visit when in Colombo.
2) Shafa Hotel Dehiwela : POL ROTTI WITH BEEF CURRY.
3) Jaadi Samaga kema : RICE & CURRY
Jaadi Samanga Game Kaema is a popular eatery down Kesbewa road, that does some great rice and curry at affordable prices. Is the food good, you bet ya.
4) Mayuri/a Hotel: JAFFNA STYLE DISHES
The Ministry of Crab I am afraId is just not as good as this amazing institution of fine food. It small, it is tight, it is a bit rough around the edges but the crab we think is the best in town. 46 Sri Kathiresan St, Pettah, 11.
5) Hullsdorph:
From 6 or 7 onwards until very very late check out the Hullsdorph area of town, pretty much everything you can imagine is for sale from 100s of street food vendors.

COLOMBO, SRI LANKA - We went on an ultimate Sri Lankan street food tour of Colombo, starting from the outskirts of the city and working our way into the market, and all the way to the Galle Face coast. Colombo is a fantastic city, vibrant, and calm and relaxing all the at the same time, and an array of delicious food.
Breakfast roti - We started in the morning for a classic Sri Lankan food breakfast, roti, stuffed with egg, chopped up and topped with curry sauce and dall. It was delicious, especially followed with ginger tea. Total price - 200 LKR ($1.12)
Milano Hotel (Restaurant) - For lunch, Ruzaina and I went to eat at one of her favorite Sri Lankan local restaurants serving a mix of rice and curry. Highly recommended. Total price - 760 LKR ($4.24)
New Paris Hotel - One of my favorite Sri Lankan foods is hoppers, and more specifically egg hoppers - a combinations of rice flour batter and coconut milk, fried in a rounded skillet and topped with an egg. Egg hoppers - 40 LKR ($0.22) each
Pettah - We continued this Sri Lankan street food tour to Pettah, a busy business district of Colombo. We met up with Abram: to do some more eating.
Fruit - 100 LKR ($0.56) - First we stopped to eat some pickled and candied fruit. I especially liked the black pepper rub on some of the fruit like the pineapple.
Bombay Sweetmeat Mart - One of the popular local Sri Lankan things to eat in Pettah is faluda and samosas. Pretty good, but I’m not huge on faluda. Total price - 320 LKR ($1.79)
Intestines and chicken necks - 390 LKR ($2.18) - Next we stopped to eat intestines and tripe, and chicken necks. All of it was pretty tasty, my kind of snack.
Brains - 660 LKR ($3.68) - Next up on this Sri Lankan street food tour, we had a huge bite of brains, all of us.
Galle Face - Finally, to end this Sri Lankan food tour, we headed to the most iconic area of Colombo - Galle Face. In the evening you’ll find food vendors setting up, selling snacks and quick meals. Isso Vadai - 200 LKR ($1.12) - are fried little fritters of shrimp and crab, and it’s something you’ve got to try. I ended with special kottu roti - 600 LKR ($3.35).
It was a great time of eating Sri Lankan food. Special thank you to Ruzaina for taking me around:

???? Sri Lankan Street Market - Food Travel Blog - Sri Lanka Vlog - Street Food - Local market in a small village just outside Negombo. Every village has a market day, lots of dried fish and fresh vegetables. One of several videos we filmed while in Sri Lanka, this video vlog was shot just outside Negombo. Pol sambola (coconut sambol) is a traditional Sri Lankan dish made from coconut, mostly used as an accompaniment with rice, string hoppers, hoppers, and many more meals. Sri Lankan cuisine has been shaped by many historical, cultural, and other factors. Foreign traders who brought new food items; influences from Indonesian cuisine and the cuisine of Southern India have all helped to shape Sri Lankan cuisine. Today, some of the staples of Sri Lankan cuisine are rice, coconut, and spices. The latter are used due to Sri Lanka's history as a spice producer and trading post over several centuries. Kottu is a spicy stir-fry of shredded roti bread with vegetables. Optional ingredients include eggs, meat, or cheese. It was invented in Batticaloa and literally means 'chopped roti' in Tamil. Hoppers (appam) are based on a fermented batter, usually made of rice flour and coconut milk with spices. The dish is pan-fried or steamed. The fermenting agent is palm toddy or yeast. Hopper variants can be either savory (such as egg hoppers, milk hoppers, and string hoppers), or sweet (such as vandu appa and pani appa). Kool is a seafood broth from Jaffna containing crab, fish, cuttlefish, prawns, and crayfish. It also contains long beans, jak seeds, manioc, spinach, and tamarind. The dish is thickened with palmyra root flour. Short eats are a variety of snacks that are bought by the dozen from short eat shops and restaurants. These are eaten on the go, mainly for breakfast or during the evening. Short eats include pastries, Chinese rolls and patties. A popular short eat among Tamils is the mutton roll, made from tender pieces of mutton with potato and seasoned with spices. This can be a very spicy dish. Mutton rolls are served all over the world wherever there are Sri Lankan Tamils. - - - -
