#GettingfromCuscotoMachuPicchu
The easiest way to get to from Cusco to Machu Picchu is to take the train to Aguas Calientes (the town located a few miles from the site). It’s a scenic 3.5-hour trip each way along tracks that run right along the Urubamba River in the Sacred Valley, with dramatic canyon walls on either side.
#MachuPicchuTours
The way to get from Cusco to Machu Picchu is to walk as part of a multi-day Machu Picchu tour. Thousands of people hike to Machu Picchu each year. Here’s how.
The most famous way to hike to Machu Picchu is along a section of one of the hundreds of Incan Trails built as the empire expanded. Dozens of tour operators offer Inca Trail hikes to Machu Picchu, with varying durations and levels of comfort (though all require camping). Note that the Inca Trail leading to Machu Picchu is closed for the entire month of February every year.
For those who would like a less crowded experience, or are looking to see and experience other aspects of Peru on their way to Machu Picchu, there are a number of diverse hiking alternatives: the second most popular way to hike to Machu Picchu is around massive Salkantay Mountain, one of the most imposing peaks in the Peruvian Andes at 20,569 feet. Many tour companies offer Salkantay Treks, but Kondor Path Tours Peru, an established and well-regarded Cusco tour company with a focus on sustainable and responsible tourism, offers the Express Salkantay Trek, which shaves a day off the normal itinerary for those who want to push their physical limits on their way to Machu Picchu.
Travelers interested in archaeology should consider the Choquequirao Tour with a Machu Picchu extension. This itinerary includes spectacular (but very tough) hiking in the steep Apurimac Canyon and exploration of the Choquequirao archaeological site before arriving at Aguas Calientes and then exploring Machu Picchu.
The Lares Trek Adventure of Peru offers a great combination of Andean hiking and cultural encounters within Andean - Quechua communities before arriving in Aguas Calientes to explore the ancient citadel.
#VinicuncaRainbowMountainTrek, also known as Montaña de Siete Colores or Rainbow Mountain, can be visited from Cusco, one of Peru’s most attractive tourist hubs, from where you can also visit Machu Picchu. The top of Rainbow Mountain sits at 5,100 m / 16,732 feet.
Cusco City Tour, Once the capital of the Inca Empire, Cusco is now known for its archaeological richness and Spanish colonial architecture. Climb up to the Archeological Park of Sacsayhuaman and visit a fortress with the same name, a beautiful place that radiates peace and quiet. Admire the enormous rocks measuring up to 4 meters high that were used in its construction.
Next, head to Q'enqo and the ancient temple of the Puma, where you observe an altar in the inner part of a huge rock that was once used for sacrifices, and then Tambomachay, once believed to be sacred fountains of life and health. On the way, take in a panoramic view from Puca Pucara, a watchtower that controlled the entrance to the city.
Cusco, Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu Tour.
On this Cusco city tour, Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu tour, you will combine the stunning scenery that has the power to stop travelers in their tracks, a rich history, and a legacy of fascinating cultures. Besides, you will experience the modern-day city of Cusco, living alongside the ruins of the once thriving Incan capital.

Peru Travel : Machu Picchu and Cusco
Nestled behind heavy green pastures, Peru’s Machu Picchu allows travelers to literally walk into history. As Peru’s most popular historical site, many tourists flock to the country simply to experience the history of this Inca settlement.
Existing for centuries, the artifacts of Peru’s former Inca Empire can still be found while hiking these grounds. One of the main focal points of Machu Picchu, the Temple of the Sun serves a central role during Peru’s summer solstice. During this time, the sun shines directly through the temple, in complete symmetry with the peak of a nearby mountain.
With a proximity of 50 miles from nearby Cusco, this 15th century stone settlement can be found deep in a high valley, surrounded by the Andes mountains. Many tourists often wonder how to get to Machu Picchu without scaling dangerous mountains in the process.
Modern tourists are transported to the Inca stronghold through a four hour train ride and a handful of miles walking along a road built within the mountains. Many backpackers opt for the traditional weeklong hike through the Inca Trail in order to reach this breathtaking destination.
Tourists will notice the over 700 terraces still present at Machu Picchu. These terraces were used for soil preservation, agricultural pursuits and to distribute water throughout the settlement. Terraces also assisted in water conservation and decreased the chance of erosion to the settlement.
Travelers to the region also make a stop in Cusco a must on their to do list. In Cusco, tourists will notice the fusion of ancient Andean culture with the fingerprints of Spain’s colonial conquest of the country. Today, Cusco serves as a must see tourist destination for travelers, with many ruins and natural wonders to be enjoyed while in Peru.

The Sacred Valley of The Incas I Cusco Peru Travel Vlog
On this episode of the travel vlog, we're in the Sacred Valley of the Incas in Peru.
We left Cusco, Peru early this morning for the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Everyone knows of Machu Picchu, but what lots of people don't realize is that there are thousands of beautiful ruins in Peru. In The Sacred Valley, there are some of the most impressive ruins in all of South America.
We started our day, though, playing with a bunch of Alpacas and llamas at a farm just outside the valley. It was way too much fun.
Eventually, we started our Sacred Valley tour with a stop at the Pisac Ruins. Pisac is one of the most impressive sets of terraces anywhere in the world. The ruins are just unbelievable, and no matter how many times I come back here, it still amazes me.
Afterwards, we headed down into the village of Pisac for a quick wander through the market. I managed to try on a bunch of different hats to get by hat game to the next level.
After lunch, we continued the travel vlog with a drive down the Sacred Valley to the ruins of Ollantaytambo. Like Pisac, the Ollantaytambo ruins are some of the most impressive anywhere in the world, let alone in Peru. We climbed up to the top of the ruins and were left with some of the most impressive views anywhere in Peru. It is absolutely stunning here.
Then, finally, in the evening, we jumped on the train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes to finish out our Sacred Valley tour. Town of Aguas Calientes is also known as Machu Picchu Town because it's right at the base of the famous ruins.
Tomorrow, the Peru travel vlog will continue the journey up the hill to Machu Picchu. I can't wait.

First Time Travel Vlogging! Cusco, Machu Picchu, & Rainbow Mountain in Peru 2017
Here is the second part of my Peru trip in the summer of 2017. After staying in the capital of Lima for a two weeks, my friend Karina and I set out for a new adventure, Cusco. Remember, I filmed this clips long before I ever thought about making a YouTube channel so once again it's not very good. However, this was the first time I ever 'vlogged' because I teach about the Incas and Machu Picchu in my 6th grade social studies class! You can tell how awkward I am and how uncomfortable I was actually doing it but I'm glad I did. During this trip we visited Cusco, Aguas Calientes, Machu Picchu, and Rainbow Mountain. It was a very physically demanding week but it was very worth it! I hate that my friend didn't get to travel this week with me, but I still had a lot of fun!
On the Rainbow Mountain clips I know it sounds like I was just complaining the whole time but please don't think I didn't enjoy it. I honestly was just so exhausted from all the hiking and walking I did the day before that I literally could barely walk so the last thing I wanted to do was hike even more, and I was told the horse would take me all the way to the top. I highly recommend going, just not if you did a huge hike the day before. :)
I will probably make more videos about my trip here because there were some things that happened that I didn't talk about!
