Woodbridge Tide Mill
Woodbridge Tide Mill is one of only 2 working tide mills in Britain. It is open daily with running demonstrations at low tide. At high tide the mill pond is filled from the incomming sea. At low tide this captured water is then used to power the mill.

Woodbridge Tide Mill Demonstration Video
An educational video created for the Woodbridge Tide Mill Trust to show how the mill works.
The trust was granted almost £1m to restore the 18th Century mill and create a modern visitor centre. Eggbox Studios was commissioned by creative agency 'Spring' to create an animation to be displayed on video screens inside the mill.
The mill is scheduled to re-open to the public in spring 2012.
Woodbridge Tide Mill
An example of 17th century technology that survived well into the 20th century. An excellent restoration job funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, and the efforts of a team of dedicated volunteers have resulted in a fine and interesting tourist attraction. This material was shot completely ad hoc, handheld on my Panasonic DMC-TZ80, at up to ISO800, so it's all a bit wobbly and grainy!

At Woodbridge Tide Mill, man has worked for over 800 years harnessing the totally reliable and predictable green energy from the tides to drive a mill producing flour and animal feed. This was the last commercially working tide mill in the UK and it has now been restored to working order.

Wonderful Woodbridge
The lovely town of Woodbridge in Suffolk, East Anglia has seen the area inhabited since the Neolithic Age, and was under Roman occupation for 300 years after Queen Boadicca's failed fight-back. Featuring heavily in Anglo-Saxon history, the area itself has seen some important archeological finds. During the Middle Age it was the commercial centre for rope-making, sail-making and boat building and was even hit by the infamous Black Death too.

Here's another short film of Woodbridge, but I have adjusted the Litchi mission to focus on the Tide Mill. On the last video, I noticed I completely ignored it and it's a lovely building. The weather was perfect for flying with wind at just over 5 knots. I had to remove the music from the video due to an inexplicable copyright claim.
