Kagoshima City - Japan - Sakurajima - Gourmet Street - Hokke Hotel
Living in the Shadows of a Volcano
Kagoshima City is the administrative, economic, and cultural center of Kagoshima Prefecture and is a castle town dating back to the 14th century. The city and its suburbs are located on the northeastern part of Satsuma Peninsula and face the Kagoshima Bay, which is more commonly known as Kinko Bay.
The smoking Sakurajima centered in Kinko Bay is one of the main symbols of Kagoshima Prefecture. Throughout history Sakurajima (4 km from central Kagoshima City) has been the site of multiple massive eruptions and continues to be one of the most well-known active volcanos in the world. Sakurajima was originally an isolated island however, as a result of the eruption of 1914, the island was joined to the adjacent Osumi Peninsula. The leva fields can still be seen on the island as testament to the history of the volcano's eruptions. - Japan Tourism

We ate at a popular seafood and dessert restaurant and took a stroll by the beach with the intense wind blowing through our hair.
Ate some amazing MOCHI on the ride, and danced to music in the car.

Pohnpei Completes Major Renovation Of Hospital
By Rolynda Jonathan
A planned $1.2 million dollar renovation on the Pohnpei State Hospital has been completed with major work done. 22 soldiers from the U.S. Army's 6th Engineering Battalion and 30 Pohnpeian construction workers completed the renovation in early April 2013.
The workers along with the U.S. soldiers replaced the old roof with a new roofing system that lowers the temperature in the hospital. The team also installed new ceiling tiles, drywalls and painted the hospital anew. Old wirings were brought up to code including installation of fixtures, switches and ceiling fans.
Lt. Nicole Thompson, who led the team revealed in her report that the plumbing throughout the hospital was in a poor condition prior to the renovation. But through the renovation phase, new toilets, sinks and faucets were installed.
This renovation, according to reports is the first that the hospital has undergone since it was built in the 1970's. During the re-dedication ceremony last month, Governor Ehsa thanked the team and urged hospital personnel to maintain the new renovated facility.

Exploring Kyoto, Japan|Day 63 - Kyoto
Formerly the capital of Japan, Kyoto’s rich cultural and religious history is preserved as it was over 1,000 years ago. This beautiful, historic city and prefecture makes the top “must-see” lists in travel books and magazines every year. Over 2,000 religious sites are scattered across the city, most of them in perfect condition as Kyoto was spared from air raids during World War II. One of the most famous temples in Japan and a popular sightseeing spot is the Temple of the Golden Pavilion (Kinkaku-ji). In honor of the vegetarian lifestyle of the monks and priests working at the prefecture’s many temples and shrines, Kyoto fare has developed over the centuries to spotlight local heirloom vegetables. Kaiseki Ryori, a traditional Japanese multi-course haute cuisine, originated from this culinary tradition. In contrast to Tokyo’s fast-paced and modern vibe, Kyoto is elegant and refined. To fully enjoy it visitors should slow down, savor, ponder and stroll.

Hiking the Koburi Pass in Saitama Prefecture (January 28, 2017) - 顔振峠ハイキング
I went hiking the Koburi Pass in Saitama-ken at the end of January 2017. The weather was nice and it is an easy hike through the woods. The beginning/end of the course (Agano and Higashi Agano) are easily reached from Tokyo (on Seibu-sen for just 600Yen - it takes about 90min to 2h).
Coffee and cake were delicious at Cafe Kinoca near Higashi Agano station at the exit of the hiking trail (

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Persona 4 Golden, released in Japan as Persona 4: The Golden , was announced in August 2011 as an enhanced remake of Persona 4 for the portable PlayStation Vita. It was originally planned by Atlus to be a PlayStation Portable title, similar to Persona 3 Portable, which would have required removing some of the features of the PlayStation 2 game. However, the Vita provided sufficient resources that allowed Atlus to expand the game. It is an expanded version of the PlayStation 2 title, adding new features and story elements to the game. A new character named Marie was added to the story. Additional Personas, character outfits, and expanded spoken lines and anime cutscenes are included as well as two new Social Links for Marie and Tohru Adachi. The game supports the wireless networking features of the Vita, allowing a player to call in help from other players to help in dungeon battles. Another new feature is a garden that produces items the player can use in the various dungeons. The game was released in Japan on June 14, 2012.
