York Art Gallery dates back to mid 1800s. During refurbishment specialist contractors Simpson & Co worked with Decor Systems to develop the shading solution which would be suited to the heritage environment.
The South Gallery featured 35 square metres of motorised horizontal roller blinds in a blackout material, and the Secret Gallery had 85 square metres of tensioned roller blinds to the vaulted roof. These were done in a screen material to gently attenuate the natural daylight entering through the roof windows.
Some of the rooms featured bottom-up roller blinds in our decor 365 system, providing privacy for the room users from passers by, but still allowing them a view outside.

I create original linocut prints inspired by nature and the great British countryside.
My linocut prints are designed, carved, inked and printed by hand in my studio, making each one subtly unique. My most recent work takes inspiration from the Yorkshire landscape and coastline.
My linocuts are the middle three. Robin Hood's Bay, Roseberry Topping and Staithes.
Our members use a variety of printmaking techniques, including long and wood cuts, collagraphs, monoprint, screen printing and etching.
