FES MOROCCO - INSIDE THE MEDINA - VLOG
FÈS is the religious and cultural center of Morocco. In this vlog, we go inside the medina and tour the city life, view the architecture, and explore the artisan crafts that made Fes famous around the world.
1. Muslim Cemetery
The best view of the Medina of Fes is from the Muslim Cemetery which sits atop a hill.
2. Fes el Bali - The oldest walled part of Fes Morocco founded between 789 and 808 AD. It has Andalusian design as opposed to Berber influence and it is a recognized UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Medina is home to over 2,000 mosques and 80,000 people. It is filled with food shops, crafts, and artisans. The medina is a car-free city and the main method of transportation is by donkey.
3. University of Al-Karaouine - The oldest university in the world established in 859 AD. We see the stunning traditional Moroccan architecture including the marble floor, tile walls, fountain, open ceiling and cedar wood work.
4. Moroccan rug - One of the most famous artisan works is the carpets, which are hand woven by women. Some have traditional Berber designs while others are woven with the Fes blue color.
5. Nejjarine Museum - We visit the museum of wood arts and crafts, a beautiful historic building with a rooftop view of Fes.
► ►
6. Tannery of Fes - We get a tour of the tanneries in Fes, a huge outdoor leather making processing center where artisans work to color and tan the leather to create handbags, jackets, shoes, and more.

Morocco Adventure From Fes to the Sahara
My son Nate and I continue on our journey around Morocco. We push onward on our quest to camp and ride camels in the Sahara desert. We hire a tour company to get us from Fes to the sahara desert to our hotel and base for our trip into the desert.
Merzouga is the nearest town and many day tours to the desert are offered out of there
We really appreciate you taking the time to watch our vids!

FES, MOROCCO - 1/2 Day Tour (BAD Travel Day)
We arrived in Fes having had planned for lots of time to walk around the Medina. However, our Riad had tried to scam us by not buying our bus tickets to Chefchaouen as we had agreed upon. Instead, they offered me tours since there was no way to make it.
I ended up spending several hours running around all over the city before finally buying tickets for a local bus for the next day.
Sometimes these things happen and you deal with it as best you can.

Tour Morocco in 2 Weeks with Intrepid Travel
On this two-week journey with Intrepid Travel through Morocco’s landscapes and cityscapes, you’ll explore the country’s best attractions. Enveloped in the country’s warm hospitality, experience cosmopolitan and cultural hubs, desert sands, medieval towns, ancient Roman ruins, historical monuments, mountain ranges, and insane views of the ocean.
Morocco borders the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. This fascinating country is immersed in Berber, Arabian and European traditions, and where the fusion of old and new speaks through architecture and artwork. Morocco is also an incredibly diverse country. On the one hand, you have buzzing cities and on the other are the daily rituals of nomadic tribes.
As dusk falls on your first evening in this North African gem, start in the famous city of Casablanca before going on to towns like Rabat and Fes, wandering along desert sands in the Sahara and Djemaa El Fna in Marrakech, and even visit the epic snow-capped peaks of the Atlas Mountains.
As well as heading to coveted destinations in Morocco, this two-week trip also includes remote must-see spots. There’s the sleepy town of Midelt where you can watch local farmers go about their day and spend the night listening to local musicians perform traditional folksy jams. You’ll also ramble along the limestone river canyons of Todgha Gorge in the eastern part of the High Atlas Mountains, sleep under the stars in the mountain village of Aroumd and visit Ait Benhaddou, a famous ksar in the Ounila Valley and UNESCO World Heritage site.
This two-week journey ends with a bang in the metropolis of Marrakesh, a happening modern city with all the splendour of the past. Marrakesh’s heady concoction of intricate lanes, souks, opulent architecture, and fragrant cuisine is the perfect finale to the best of Morocco.
