AM New York | On The Pulse
AM New York, Manhattan's largest daily newspaper, hired Indigo to create a unique promo video about their hip, upscale, and in-demand publication.
Indigo shot for ten days all over New York City, documenting scores of amazing recommendations pulled directly from their pages. Our marathon production included stops in all 5 boroughs, a Beyonce concert, time lapse photography of a dramatic NYC sunrise, and location shoots for twenty other amazing things.
The hardest part about the post production was deciding what to leave out. After a really fun edit, some custom-designed motion graphics, and an infectiously-groovy pop track, the video eventually took on a life of its own.
It premiered in front of a packed house on the Yankee Stadium Jumbotron, and played for several additional months on numerous video billboards all over New York City, including Times Square Billboards and inside Madison Square Garden.

Mayor Bill de Blasio Unveils Housing New York in the Bronx
Read the full plan at nyc.gov/housing
Mayor Bill de Blasio Unveils Housing New York: A Five Borough, 10 Year Housing Plan to Protect & Expand Affordability
$41 billion total investment to yield 200,000 new and preserved affordable apartments over the coming decade—the largest and most ambitious affordability plan of its kind in nation's history
City to double HPD's capital budget, target vacant and underused land, protect tenants in rent-regulated apartments
Streamlined rules and processes to unlock new development opportunities, contain costs and accelerate affordable construction
Mayor Bill de Blasio today laid out a 10-year plan to build or preserve 200,000 affordable apartments across all five boroughs—enough housing to serve more than a half-million New Yorkers. The $41 billion Housing New York: A Five-Borough, Ten-Year Plan is the most expansive and ambitious affordable housing agenda of its kind in the nation's history, and Mayor de Blasio pledged it would reach New Yorkers ranging from those with very low incomes at the bottom of the economic ladder, all the way to those in the middle class facing ever-rising rents in their neighborhoods.
We have a crisis of affordability on our hands. It touches everyone from the bottom of the economic ladder, all the way up to the middle class. And so we are marshaling every corner of government and the private sector in an unprecedented response, said Mayor Bill de Blasio. This plan thinks big -- because it has to. The changes we are setting in motion today will reach a half-million New Yorkers, in every community, and from every walk of life. They will make our families and our city stronger.
Housing New York outlines the broad principles and the specific policies City agencies will implement to reach Mayor de Blasio's ambitious goal. The plan emphasizes:
• Unprecedented Scale: The plan calls for 200,000 affordable units over 10 years—120,000 preserved and 80,000 newly built.
• Affordability for a Wide Range of Incomes: Affordability programs will serve households ranging from middle- to extremely low-income (under $25,150 for a family of four).
• Proactive and Strategic Preservation of Existing Affordability: Agencies will use every tool at their disposal to protect tenants in both subsidized affordable housing and rent-regulated housing from the tide of deregulation, and to combat neglect and disrepair that threatens many affordable buildings.
• New Opportunities for Growth and Density: The City will undertake ground-up neighborhood planning to identify corridors and communities with opportunities for more housing (both affordable and market), and coordinate greater density with necessary infrastructure.
• Quality Jobs: Approximately 194,000 construction jobs and nearly 7,100 permanent jobs will be generated by the housing plan, and the City will work with stakeholders to make sure they are quality jobs and integrated into the City's workforce development ecosystem.
• Fewer Unnecessary Barriers and Delays: The City will streamline the development process and help to contain construction costs by overhauling outdated regulations and removing duplicative agency processes.

2017 New York Auto Show Ready, Set, Go; Saratoga Auto Museum, Lucid Air, too RPM News Ep17 S1
All roads lead to New York City this week as the annual New York International Auto Show kicks off a ten day public celebration of everything automobile starting Friday April 14th.
In a tribute to the city’s role in making the auto industry as ubiquitous as it is today, the show will feature a special exhibition curated by the Saratoga Automobile Museum that pays homage to the more than 100 different automobile manufacturers that once called New York state their home.
Some, such as Pierce Arrow and Franklin made an enduring mark, while many others have nearly disappeared into the pages of history. With New Yorkers of the early 1900s owning 50 percent more cars than the residents of any other state, demand for cars turned the wheels of entrepreneurship.
Buffalo was home to the Thomas Flyer that, in 1908, won the challenging 169-day New York to Paris race, a competition that took the participants west across the United States, Asia and Europe to Paris.
Long Island coachbuilders Brewster & Company did bodywork on an electric car in 1896. Later, from 1915 through 1925, the company used available components to build their own cars and eventually was acquired by Rolls Royce.
Ultimately, the automobile industry remains integral to New York remaining the economic powerhouse of the nation.
******
From the minds of some of today’s greatest innovators, new concepts continue to emerge, presented to public at the 2017 New York International Auto Show.
While everyone is gushing at the all-new Buick Regal wagon that refuses to be called a wagon, RPM News Weekly turns its eyes to Lucid Motors, a Silicon Valley-based luxury mobility company that recently unveiled the Lucid Air electric vehicle.
Promising a range of 400 miles on a charge and fitted with an in-house designed powertrain, the Air ventures into entirely new space with its form, proportions and technology.
Short on specifics about the proprietary systems in the Air up until now, Lucid comes to the New York International Auto Show at a time when most industry watchers anticipate rapid changes in the transportation landscape in the near future.
We’ll see where the Lucid leads and keep you posted.

Another video exclusive.
Listen & watch in fascination as Steven Luckert, curator of the US Holocaust Memorial Museum walks CoolCleveland through the exhibition State of Deception: The Power of Nazi Propaganda now open at the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage through 3/15/15.
Summoning the talents of thousands of graphic designers, filmmakers, designers, musicians, choreographers and other artists, Hitler's effective propaganda machine seduced a hungry German population in his rise to power, leading to some of the worst atrocities in human history.
Brooklyn Sunrise (Time Lapse) - In A Brooklyn Minute (Week 172)
- - It's a new dawn. It's a new day.
As of this past week, I'm back in the United States. First stop: Brooklyn. What this next phase will bring may be as unknown as what the coming day may bring. Certain is always that the sun will rise every day. Certain to me is also that I have people I love and who love me - living in many different places. I am so grateful for all of you who have walked with me and stood with me - especially during this last year of living in Berlin.
So I would like to dedicate this video to my family and friends, most of whom I miss right now and some of whom I finally get to see again now that I'm in NYC and others I will see very soon. This also includes my Berlin-Brooklyn friends Mike and Cassis, the later is the composer and singer of the lovely song in the video: Being There - performed by Cassis & The Sympathies.
The sunrise I photographed on Ginger's rooftop in Bedford-Stuyvesant. Thank you, Ginger, for letting me stay in your lovely apartment. And thank you, Erica and Van, for letting me stay in your vast Crown Heights mansion during the preceding days.
Question: what do you think... is that fast moving light at the top of the frame in the beginning of the video a star or a satellite?
Now let's make this a beautiful day!

TRAVEL USA
The United States of America (USA), commonly known as the United States (U.S.) or America
The history of the United States is what happened in the past in the United States, a country in North America. Native Americans have lived there for thousands of years. English people in 1607 went to the place now called Jamestown, Virginia. Other European settlers went to the colonies, mostly from England and later Great Britain. France, Spain, and the Netherlands also colonized North America.
In 1775, a war between the thirteen colonies and Britain began, when the colonists were upset over changes in British policies. On July 4, 1776, rebel leaders made the United States Declaration of Independence. They won the Revolutionary War and started a new country. They made a constitution in 1787 and a Bill of Rights in 1791. George Washington, who had led the war became its first president.
During the 19th century, the United States gained much more land in the West and began to become industrialized. In 1861, several states in the South left the United States to start a new country called the Confederate States of America. This caused the American Civil War. After the war, Immigration resumed. Some Americans became very rich in this Gilded Age and the country developed one of the largest economies in the world.
In the early 20th century, the United States became a world power, fighting in World War I and World War II. Between the wars, there was an economic boom called the Roaring Twenties when people became richer and a bust called the Great Depression when most were poorer. The Great Depression ended with World War II.
The United States and the Soviet Union entered the Cold War. This included wars in Korea and Vietnam. During this time, African-Americans, Chicanos, and women sought more rights. In the 1970s and 1980s, the United States started to make fewer things in factories. The country then went through the worst recession it had since the Great Depression.
The U.S. is a country of 50 states covering a vast swath of North America, with Alaska in the northwest and Hawaii extending the nation’s presence into the Pacific Ocean. Major Atlantic Coast cities are New York, a global finance and culture center, and capital Washington, DC. Midwestern metropolis Chicago is known for influential architecture and on the west coast, Los Angeles' Hollywood is famed for filmmaking.
When the weather is nice, I don’t think there’s a better city in the United States. Set on the shores of Lake Michigan, Chicago has world-class food (try the deep dish, sushi, and hot dogs), the fun and kitschy Navy Pier, Millennium Park with its famous bean-shaped statue, a aquarium, and iconic architecture (be sure to take an architecture tour). And once the winter deep freeze is over, Chicagoans burst out of their homes to enjoy the summer weather, so there’s positive, happy vibe emanating through the city. Take advantage of it.
Words can’t accurately describe how incredible the Grand Canyon is. It’s breathtaking in so many ways —its sheer size, fantastic depth, red hues, and striking vistas. Most people simply stand at the edge of the canyon and look out across it, but its true size and beauty are best appreciated with a hike down to the bottom. Make the time to hike down to the Colorado River, hike the less visited trails, spend the night, and hike back up for sunset.
Forever warm and sunny, San Diego’s weather creates a permanently happy population that’s friendly and outgoing and that loves the outdoors – from hiking, days at the beach, or running….and they are always happy to show people their city. The downtown Gaslamp area — as well as the famous Pacific Beach — is full of trendy seafood restaurants, bustling bars, and some seriously life-changing taco stalls. I love San Diego.

Wayne County Building, Downtown, and the Whitney (1990)
2015.008.169
U-Matic S tape containing footage shot of Cadillac Square, the interior of the Wayne County Building, the Financial District, the exterior of the Detroit Club, Washington Boulevard, Grand Circus Park, and the interior of the Whitney. Most of the footage is silent.
