Celebrating Irish freedom Centenary 1916 - 2016 Go Home British Soldiers
Another in a long long list of Irish rebel songs going back hundreds of years. If anyone can tell me who this street singer is I'd like to give him credit please tell me.
In this year 2016 we celebrate the brave young men and women who were murdered by the British crown because they stood up to fight the entire British Empire for Irelands Freedom in 1916. Without this famous uprising Ireland would never have gained its freedom from a tyrannical and terrorist British empire who starved kicked and beat the Irish for 800 years.
Thanks to these men and women we now have the freedom to vote, Freedom of speech and a country to be proud of.
1916 Walking Tour Full Version Part 1
Members of Rostrevor Men's Shed enjoyed a great day on Saturday 11th June when they headed off to Dublin to participate in a 1916 Walking Tour.
This was the second of three events organised by The Down Rural Community Network and Altnaveigh House, Newry to commemorate the centenary of the Battle of The Somme and the Easter Rising of 1916.
Their guide Lorcan Collins was very entertaining and full of craic and at the same time informative and educational.
Even the heavy downpour didn't dampen his or the Shedders' enthusiasm!!
So we would like to offer our appreciation to him for a wonderful Tour which if you get the opportunity to participate in you will thoroughly enjoy.
The Shedders had a few hours to entertain themselves in the Fair City and headed off to a few local hostelries to shelter from the rain.
Thank you also to Clare Shiels, Rural Development Officer with DRCN and Wilbert McKee of Altnaveigh House, Newry for arranging a wonderful, informative and thoroughly enjoyable day, and to Rooney's Coaches for getting us there and home again safe and sound.
