.....
And, if you haven’t been to Sedona yet, add it to your next road trip stop west!! And, make sure to see the landscape with @pinkjeeptours because it is such a fun adventure!!! ????????????????

Family trip to Sedona, AZ; 4x4 jeep tour, bears, howling wolves, animals, nature hikes, snow
Family Roadtrip to Sedona, Arizona! The kids absolutely loved it! Sedona and its surrounding areas have so much to offer for all ages - so many fun things to do. Here's a quick list of some of the things we did!
- Hiked at Slide Rock State Park; Beautiful rock formations and awesome river (was too cold for us to try out the natural slide at Slid Rock)
- Went on a 4x4 Jeep Tour with Pink Jeep Tours (we did the most extreme one they offered and we all loved it!) They took us to a couple areas with the best views.
- Visited Out of Africa Wildlife Park; It's definitely not a zoo! They created habitats for the animals to roam freely and some areas they drove us into the area to see the animals up close - we were able to feed a giraffe from our tram and feed a Tiger! Just a half hour or so outside of Sedona.
- Couple other activities or places to see are the Cathedral Rock Trail, Coconino National Forest, Flagstaff, Art galleries in town, more 4x4 rentals to tackle the numerous trails and of course all the spas!
- On the drive home we got lucky and found a place called Bearizona! This was another intro animal expedition for the kids where we were able to drive 3 miles through the Ponderosa Pine Forest - we saw black bears, brown bears, wolves, huge bison, rams to name a few just roaming freely within there natural habitat. Some came so close to the car that i got a little nervous. By the entrance they have a walk-thru area that is more like your typical zoo - a must visit when you're in the area!
- Last thing! Drive on the historical Route 66 - it goes for-ever! We found a spot that reminded us of Radiator Springs from the movie Cars - the town is called Seligman. A few places where Pixar visited and based it loosely on these towns.
We'll be definitely coming back because there are so many more things to see and do here. So many hikes, bike trails, 4x4 riding, eating, relaxing and did I mention longer hikes?

Information on the forest fire:
The north fire shut down our original route to Santa Fe, but thankfully the fire to the south enough was not severe enough to shut down the other freeway so we were able to make it to our destination, just had to drive a couple extra hours. The fire to the north of us was the one that was very severe. It started small, as all do, but due to the small 8% humidity the fire spread rapidly. This fire took place at Slide Rock park (the place we had been less than 24 hours before). Our pink jeep tour guide said the canyon (Oak Creek Canyon) itself had not caught fire in over 30 years and that due to the wind and the canyon giving the fire the option to burn upwards, the fire can spread at 40 to 50 mph. Interestingly enough, he added that meteorologists are assigned to forest fires to track the weather and its patterns since as they grow, they create their own weather patterns. (He also mentioned that he had seen fire tornadoes be created in the past from the fire's own weather pattern, but we tried not to think about that because that is absolutely terrifying.) As of 5/22/14, the fire has burned over 7,500 acres and is reported to have some containment. Not exactly sure how much that means, but for the day and a half that we were close to the fire, there was 0% containment so it is good that they can say some. As Michiganders, forest fires are not something that we are remotely familiar with as Michigan is covered in water. Not only with the great lakes and the plenty of smaller lakes that pepper the state, but also with extremely high humidity levels. This experience made us realize how lucky we are to live in a place that has very, very few natural disasters.

Pioneer Trail with A Day in the West
The Pioneer Trail jeep tour with a Day in the West, is the shorter version of the ride up Schnebly Hill Road. Some of the most beautiful scenery in the Red Rock area, Schnebly Hill was the main route for settlers in the Sedona/Verde Valley area. The road can be rough at times, but not too extreme as far as off-road tours go, but don't try it in a regular vehicle!

Sedona Arizona | The Most Beautiful Place on Earth?
The city of Sedona, Arizona claims to be The Most Beautiful Place on Earth, and we just had to check it out for ourselves.
Sedona is located about 2 hours North of the Phoenix, Arizona area and has a slightly cooler climate than most of its desert neighbors. It is a land of rustic red sandstone found nowhere else on Earth. Many people even claim that there are many Vortices (plural for vortex) surrounding the city area, and that draws a lot of spiritualists to the area.
Archaeologists believe that Sedona has been inhabited for up to 13,000 years by various tribes of people. Some even settled in the area permanently and build dwellings on the sides of the cliffs. You can visit some of those ancient ruins today.
In this video we set out to visit the following locations:
Downtown Sedona
Bell Rock
Red Rock State Park
Coconino National Forest
Honanki Ruins
Chapel on the Rock
Devil's Bridge
Amitabha Stupa Peace Park
ARIZONA: The Red Rocks of Sedona By EMIL WEST
Sedona is a city and community that straddles the county line between Coconino and Yavapai counties in the northern Verde Valley region of the U.S. state of Arizona. According to 2005 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the city is 11,220.
Sedona's main attraction is its stunning array of red sandstone formations, the Red Rocks of Sedona. The formations appear to glow in brilliant orange and red when illuminated by the rising or setting sun. The Red Rocks form a breathtaking backdrop for everything from spiritual pursuits to the hundreds of hiking and mountain biking trails.
Sedona is named after Sedona Miller Schnebly, the wife of the city's first postmaster, who was celebrated for her hospitality and industriousness.
