5 Haunted Places in California
******************************
Alcatraz Prison - Located in San Francisco Bay, California, Alcatraz was one of the most notorious prisons in the United States and also one of the most haunted as mysterious sounds and voices have been heard all around the prison.
Hollywood Sign - Built in 1923, the Hollywood Sign is perhaps the most famous sign in the world. But what if I told you that the sign we know and love had a much morbid side to it? One of Hollywoods saddest stars, Peg Entwistle, who jumped off the sign, is known to haunt the sign.
Colorado Street Bridge - Located in Pasadena, California, the Colorado Street Bridge has been nicknamed, “Su--cide Bridge” due to the extraordinary amount of people jumping off of it. No one is sure why so many people have chosen this place to be there last destination, but rumour has it that a construction worker who accidentally fell off the bridge is known to call on those who are at the lowest points of their life to join him in the afterlife.
The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel - The most famous haunted hotel is the Hollywood Roosevelt. This hotel is said to be haunted by famous actress Marilyn Monroe and many more. You better be careful before you book a hotel in Hollywood!
Disneyland - Disneyland, located in Anaheim California, deemed the happiest place on Earth, the park has been around since July 17, 1955. Over 600 million people have walked through the gates of the magical kingdom, but unfortunately, not all have made it back out.

Hollywood Blvd New Year Eve 2020
Hey Guys, please enjoy the new year eve from one of the most famous streets in the United States, Hollywood Boulevard.
The People, the places, the sounds.... All have a unique feel at night. Especially at Night.
Heres is some info on Hollywood Blvd.
Hollywood Boulevard is a major east–west street in Los Angeles, California. It begins in the west as a winding residential street at Sunset Plaza Drive in the Hollywood Hills West district. After crossing Laurel Canyon Boulevard, it proceeds due east as a major thoroughfare through Hollywood, Little Armenia and Thai Town to Vermont Avenue. It then runs southeast to its eastern terminus at Sunset Boulevard in the Los Feliz district. Parts of the boulevard are popular tourist destinations, primarily the fifteen blocks between La Brea Avenue east to Gower Street where the Hollywood Walk of Fame is primarily located.
Hollywood boulevard was originally named Prospect Avenue until 1910, when the town of Hollywood, created by H.J. Whitley, was annexed by the neighboring City of Los Angeles. After annexation, the street numbers changed from 100 Prospect Avenue, at Vermont Avenue, to 6400 Hollywood Boulevard.
In the early 1920s, real estate developer Charles E. Toberman (the Father of Hollywood) envisioned a thriving Hollywood theatre district. Toberman was involved in 36 projects while building the Max Factor Building, Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel and the Hollywood Masonic Temple. With Sid Grauman, he opened the three themed theatres: Egyptian, El Capitan (The Captain) (1926), and Chinese.

RUNNING FAIL at the Rock 'n' Roll Los Angeles Half Marathon 2018
Running FAIL!
---------
Website:
More than 6,000 registered runners took to the streets of the Los Angeles this morning to participate in the running of the United Airlines Rock ‘n’ Roll Los Angeles Half Marathon. With a renewed focus on the core pillars of great music in a community environment, thousands of runners hit the streets of Downtown LA in costumes to enjoy the sights and sounds of the World’s Largest Halloween Half Marathon.
The best-in-class running event took place on Sunday morning when both the 5K starting and the half marathon began at the corner of S. Figueroa St. and Pico Blvd. with runners from 43 states and 30 countries receiving a first-class tour of Downtown LA. The new half marathon route gave runner’s a tour through some of the best music venues and landmarks in the area, such as The Wiltern, the Grammy Museum, LA Live, the Staples Center, Microsoft Theater.
In the half marathon, Sergio Reyes (Palmdale, Calif.) won the race with his first-place effort clocking a time of 1:06:39. Steven Underwood (Chula Vista, Calif.) was second with a time of 1:09:18. Hunter Paris (Santa Monica, Calif.) followed in third place finishing in 1:09:33. Rachel Miura (Los Angeles, Calif.) was the women’s champion with a final time of 1:21:43 with Chloe Fata (South Pasadena, Calif.) next behind her at 1:22:38. Elizabeth Scott (Los Angeles, Calif) rounded out the podium in 1:23:57.
Elite runners and fast times aside, Sunday’s races were all about the party atmosphere. Several local bands, including at the Navy Band Southwest, The Destroyers, Cali Conscious, Pullman Standard and Crown the Yeti performed live on improved band stages along the route interspersed with cheerleaders and themed water stations. Participants moved along to more music than ever with all new mile-markers that included speakers while taking in the local scenery and city streets packed with spectator support.
The musically themed road race celebrated the day’s accomplishments with the sounds of Huntington Beach based artist, Matt Costa, who headlined the Toyota Rock ‘n’ Roll Concert Series at the finish line festival held at LA Live.

Relive - Rock 'n' Roll Los Angeles Half Marathon 2018 (Aleta)
We decided to run the Rock 'n' Roll Los Angeles Half Marathon 2018! For a big city with straight roads and wide streets, the course was fun! It wasn't too flat, so that added a little challenge too! It's almost secretly halloween themed. The medal was halloween themed and there were some costumed people on stilts and zombies around mile 7 too, the halloween theme ended there though. I would probably run it again, so that's always a plus! The expo the day before was downtown, which is really annoying, especially having to make two downtown trips in two days. It would be nice to have the expo out of the city and only have to brave downtown once and on the Sunday! Luckily, we managed to park for free both times down a side street, so all in all, not too bad!

In this case, Garcia combines his tabla, ghatam, kanjira, Yaqui water drums and Paiste metals with the sarode and surbahar of the gifted and versatile John Stephens and multi woodwind player Pablo Calogero on bansuri, bass flute, bass clarinet, soprano and tenor saxophone. With Garcia always successful in his role as multicultural musical ambassador as well as sensitive and tasteful manifestor of thoroughly enjoyable musical experiences, this trio is sure to fascinate and satisfy.”

Garcia’s drumming cut through, complemented, and grounded the reverberating echoes of
L. Shankar’s masterful slides on the violin throughout the hall. Highlights included Garcia’s percussion solo in which he built upon various rhythms for several uninterrupted minutes, beating every drum in front of him, including tapping his face to a comedic, yet fascinating effect….”

We hear a variety of percussion, including instruments from India, Mexico and MesoAmerica. They sing and throb to the pulse of a single person, Christopher Garcia. JOHN STEPHENS REVIEWS
John Stephens is a sitar, surbahar and sarode player based in Los Angeles. He earned his bachelor’s in music from Berklee College of Music (2006), majoring in Jazz Composition. After living in India for a year, he went on to earn his MFA in North Indian music at CalArts (2011). John continues to learn from maestro Ustad Aashish Khan, eldest son of Ustad Ali Akbar. Aashish Khan learned primarily from his grandfather, Baba Allauddin Khan, who was one of the most influential musicians in the history of Hindustani music, having taught Pandit Ravi Shankar, Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, and many others. John began his training with Aashish Khan in 2009, after spending four years learning sitar from Pandit Amarnath Mishra in Banaras.
John is a performing musician, recording artist, music and podcast producer, and music educator. In addition to teaching privately, he is a regular teacher at the California State Summer School for the Arts, and substitute teacher for world music faculty at CalArts. He is also a published author on ancient Indian microtonal theory, and his article, “The Microtones of Bharata’s Natyashastra,” appears in Volume 6 of Analytical Approaches to World Music
PABLO CALOGERO REVIEWS
“Calogero can groove, solo and lift the band with any of his multiple horns and flutes, each showing a very different side of his musical personality but each with their own organically developed sound within the hands of a musician who has played with Tito Puente, Jaki Byard, Anthony Braxton and Carla Bley…”
PERFORMING ARTS LIVE
Pablo Calogero …… his postulation of vibratory sounds through the medium of that clandestine wooden piccolo, that monumental yet unimposing bass flute, and the bass clarinet a seemingly rare yet integral part of the repertoire of sound, flowed with such elegance and grace, while from time to time awakening me to a heretofore unheard articulation, that let me know that there’s much more that I have yet to hear....

Union Square, San Francisco Walking Tour - 4k 60FPS Binaural ASRM
Union Square is a 2.6-acre (1.1 ha) public plaza bordered by Geary, Powell, Post and Stockton Streets in downtown San Francisco, California. Union Square also refers to the central shopping, hotel, and theater district that surrounds the plaza for several blocks.[citation needed] The area got its name because it was once used for Thomas Starr King rallies and support for the Union Army during the American Civil War,[2] earning its designation as a California Historical Landmark.[1]
Today, this one-block plaza and surrounding area is one of the largest collections of department stores, upscale boutiques, gift shops, art galleries, and beauty salons in the United States, making Union Square a major tourist destination and a vital, cosmopolitan gathering place in downtown San Francisco.[3] Grand hotels and small inns, as well as repertory, off-Broadway, and single-act theaters also contribute to the area's dynamic, 24-hour character.[4]
The Dewey Monument is located at the center of Union Square. It is a statue of Nike, the ancient Greek Goddess of Victory.
Union Square was originally a tall sand dune, and the square was later set aside to be made into a public park in 1850. Union Square got its name from the pro-Union rallies held there on the eve of the Civil War. The monument itself is also a tribute to the sailors of the United States Navy.[5]
Union Square was built and dedicated by San Francisco's first American mayor John Geary in 1850 and is so named for the pro-Union rallies by Thomas Starr King that happened there before and during the United States Civil War.[2] Since then the plaza has undergone many notable changes, one of the most significant happening in 1903 with the dedication of a 97 ft (30 m) tall monument to Admiral George Dewey's victory at the Battle of Manila Bay during the Spanish–American War. It also commemorates U.S. President William McKinley, who had been recently assassinated. Executed by Robert Aitken, the statue at the top of the monument, Victory, was modeled after a voluptuous Danish-American stenographer and artist's model, Alma de Bretteville, who eventually married one of San Francisco's richest citizens.[6] Another significant change happened between 1939 and 1941 when a large underground parking garage was built under the square; this meant the plaza's lawns, shrubs and the Dewey monument were now on the garage roof. Designed by Timothy Pflueger, it was the world's first underground parking garage.[7]
During the late 1970s, and through the 1980s and 1990s, the area became somewhat derelict as the homeless began to camp in the space. San Francisco's rowdy New Year's parties used to happen yearly at the plaza with some sort of civil disruption and rioting happening afterward. In early 1998 city planners began plans to renovate the plaza to create more paved surfaces for easier maintenance, with outdoor cafes, and more levels to the underground garage.[8] Finally in late 2000, the park was partially closed down to renovate the park and the parking garage.[9] On July 25, 2002, the park reopened and a ceremony was held with then Mayor Willie Brown.[10] In 2004 Unwire Now, a company founded by entrepreneur Jaz Banga, launched a free Wi-Fi network in Union Square which was championed by Mayor Gavin Newsom.[11]
Union Square hosts many public concerts and events.[12] Public views of the square can be seen from surrounding high places such as the Sir Francis Drake Hotel, Macy's top floor, and the Grand Hyatt hotel. The Union Square Business Improvement District was founded in 1999[13] and focused primarily on cleaning and safety issues. The BID also deals with marketing, advocacy, streetscapes and capital improvement programs.[14] The Union Square BID has been criticized by some as acting in a harassing manner toward homeless people at times, to deter them from being there.[15]
At the center of Union Square stands the Dewey Monument, an 85-foot (26 m) column on which stand a 9-foot (2.7 m) statue of Nike, the ancient Greek Goddess of Victory.[16] The monument is dedicated to Admiral George Dewey, a hero of the Spanish–American War for his victory at the Battle of Manila Bay in 1898.[17] The monument was dedicated in 1903.[2]
Beginning in 2009, painted heart sculptures from the Hearts in San Francisco public art installation have been installed in each of the four corners of the square.[18]

From Wikipedia:
The Empire State Building is a 102-story[c] Art Deco skyscraper in Midtown Manhattan, New York City. It was designed by Shreve, Lamb & Harmon and completed in 1931. The building has a roof height of 1,250 feet (380 m) and stands a total of 1,454 feet (443.2 m) tall, including its antenna. Its name is derived from Empire State, the nickname of New York, which is of unknown origin. The Empire State Building stood as the world's tallest building for nearly 40 years until the construction of the World Trade Center's North Tower in Lower Manhattan in late 1970. Following the September 11 attacks in 2001, it was again the tallest building in New York City until it was surpassed by the new One World Trade Center in 2012. As of 2019, the building is the seventh-tallest building in New York City, the sixth-tallest completed skyscraper in the United States, and the 45th-tallest in the world. It is also the sixth-tallest freestanding structure in the Americas.
The site of the Empire State Building, located in Midtown South on the west side of Fifth Avenue between West 33rd and 34th Streets, was originally part of an early 18th-century farm, then became the site of the Waldorf–Astoria Hotel in 1893.[15] In 1929, Empire State Inc. acquired the site and devised plans for a skyscraper there. The design for the Empire State Building was changed fifteen times until it was ensured to be the world's tallest building. Construction started on March 17, 1930, and the building opened thirteen and a half months afterward on May 1, 1931. Despite the publicity surrounding the building's construction, its owners failed to make a profit until the early 1950s.
