Portuguese Food Tour - FULL DAY of Eating in Lisbon, Portugal!

►Camera I use:
On Day 27 in Lisbon, Portugal, I made up my mind to eat as much Portuguese food and at some of the best local restaurants in Lisbon. It turned out to be a fantastic day in Lisbon with some seriously good Portuguese food!
00:36 Cafe Martinho Da Arcada at Praça do Comércio - The first place we stopped in the morning is a legendary cafe in Lisbon that is the oldest cafe in Lisbon called Cafe Martinho Da Arcada. The main reason I wanted to go there was to try their pastéis de bacalhau, classic Portuguese food codfish fritters. The coffee and ambience and of the cafe was also nice. Total price - 9.30 EUR
Restaurante Zé da Mouraria (I think it was closed for holidays) - I really wanted to eat at this restaurant during my visit to Lisbon, but unfortunately they were closed for holidays, so if you go to Lisbon and are looking for local Portuguese food, check this place out.
5:32 Restaurante Cantinho do Aziz - For our next meal, although not Portuguese food, but more Mozambican food, we headed over to Restaurante Cantinho do Aziz. The food was remarkable, one of the best meals I had in Lisbon. I first began with some beef samosas which were insanely good, and then had spicy bakra piri piri, spicy lamb ribs. Total price - 35.00 EUR
11:14 Restaurante A Merendinha do Arco - Finally, to try some authentic Portuguese food in Lisbon, we headed over to a restaurant called Restaurante A Merendinha do Arco. This small family run restaurant serves delicious Portuguese food and many of the classics. I ordered bacalhau com grão, codfish with garbanzo beans and carne de porco à alentejana, pork with clams. Along with the delicious local food, what I loved was the ambiance and feel of the restaurant. Total price - 20.15 EUR
22:10 Oceanário de Lisboa (Entrance price - 17 EUR per person) - By this point on this Portuguese food tour of Lisbon, I was feeling pretty full, so we headed over to Oceanário de Lisboa and walked around one of Europe’s biggest aquariums.
24:22 Cafe on Avenida da Liberdade (Coffee - 1.40 EUR) - One of the things I love about Lisbon is the social cafe culture and atmosphere. In the afternoon I was starting to feel pretty sleepy, so before dinner, I had a cup of coffee at an outdoor cafe along Avenida.
25:12 Solar dos Presuntos - For the last Portuguese meal in on this food tour of restaurants in Lisbon, I decided to eat at a restaurants called Solar dos Presuntos. I didn’t know it was going to be such a fancy high end restaurant, but it was our last night in Lisbon, so we decided to go for it. I started with the pata negra, a plate of incredibly good ham. Then I ordered the polvo à lagareiro, some of the most tender octopus I’ve ever had in my life. Finally we also ordered dourada grelhada - gilt-head sea bream fish. The food was expensive, but delicious. Total price - 60.85 EUR.
This was a fantastic day of Portuguese food in Lisbon, and many of the places we ate today were the best restaurants I tried in Lisbon.

3 + 1 Things to do in Porto
Porto has undeniable charm and history. It is most known as the city where Port wine originates, due to its close proximity to the Duoro Valley and wine producing region of the country. Its an absolute must to visit one of the many port wine galleries that located just across the Douro River in Gaia. There are plenty of local restaurants as well and on a beautiful day, it is worth taking a trip on a Rabelo Boat that cruises the Douro River under all 6 of the city's famous bridges.

Serras de Aire e Candeeiros Natural Park is the full name of where we went today. And it was an absolute surprise how great this nature park turned out to be.
Because very few people go here. It's only an hour away from Lisbon and yet everyone drives right past it, which means you have it all to yourself.
And you won't be bored here. The vast nature alone is enough to come here with epic hiking trails and scenic landscape as far as the eye can see. And in addition to that, this is also where you can see actual dinosaur footprints, which was quite an unusual experience.
It was super fascinating to explore these original footprints and think about the crazy fact that they are more than 65 million years old.
In many ways this nature park is the real world Jurassic Park.

Flying on TAP Portugal and Roast Chicken (Frango Assado) - Lisbon, Portugal, Travel Guide!
►Check out my Lisbon travel guide:
►Subscribe to my videos:
►Camera I use:
On Day 24 of our Round the World Trip for Food with Star Alliance, in the morning we flew from Barcelona to Lisbon, Portugal on TAP Portugal airline. After checking into our hotel in Lisbon, we had lunch at a rather tourist Portuguese restaurant and then continued to do a little bit of sightseeing in Lisbon. For dinner, I enjoyed a trend Portuguese meal at Taberna da Rua das Flores.
1:30 Star Alliance Flight #7 on TAP Portugal - The first thing we did during the day was head to the Barcelona airport to catch out flight to Lisbon. Our flight was with TAP Portugal airline, and the flight took about one hour. The flight was nothing special, but it was alright and we soon arrived to Lisbon Portela Airport. From the airport, we decided to take the Aero Bus #1 (3.5 EUR per person) to Avenida da Liberdade which was right next to the hotel we would be staying at in Lisbon.
4:34 The Fontecruz Lisboa Hotel (Marriott Hotel) - For our trip to Lisbon, we stayed at The Fontecruz Lisboa Hotel. It’s a boutique hotel in Lisbon, located along the very pleasant Avenida da Liberdade, a wide and tree lined shopping street in Lisbon. I loved the area, and the hotel was alright, but I wasn’t a huge fan of the dark black theme.
7:25 Lunch at Restaurante Bonjardim - When we arrived to Lisbon we hadn’t eaten lunch, so Ying and I were both extremely hungry. Unfortunately we just didn’t have the energy to go very far to eat lunch (Ying was pregnant and she needed to eat fast!). So we went to a Portuguese food restaurant just down the road from our hotel, and though it wasn’t the most local Portuguese restaurant, we were hungry and the location was right (this is how it sometimes works when you’re traveling). We both ordered the frango asado (roast chicken) and then a bowl of aroz Brasileiro, and a bowl of esparregado. The food was alright, not spectacular, but pretty decent, and it did feel great to eat some a big piece of chicken for some good protein. Total price - 25.10 EUR
12:08 Ascensor da Glória (Price - 3.60 EUR per person roundtrip) - One of the coolest things about Lisbon is the history of the city and the fact that it’s so hilly - and for this reason there are some old vintage funiculars in the city. Right across the square from where we ate lunch we went to the Ascensor da Glória and took the funicular up the hill to Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara, which is a lookout viewpoint on the top of the hill. The views of Lisbon were spectacular and it was a good place to get my bearings for Lisbon.
14:42 Igreja de São Roque - From the Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara, we walked over to Igreja de São Roque, the first Jesuit church in Lisbon. The outside of the church looks quite plain, but inside it’s one of the richest churches in Lisbon.
16:52 Café A Brasileira (Price - 1 EUR per cup) - Café A Brasileira is a legendary coffee shop in Lisbon that was a favorite hangout spot for a number of famous Portuguese poets and writers. I’m happy to report the coffee was amazing, and a decent price as well.
18:48 Taberna da Rua das Flores - For dinner, we walked over to a restaurant called Taberna da Rua das Flores. I have to admit that I was hoping to have some good classic traditional Portuguese food. What I didn’t know was that Taberna da Rua das Flores restaurant only serves Portuguese food for lunch and for dinner they serve a fusion of recipes cooked with Portuguese ingredients. Although a little on the trendy side, the food was excellent. Total price - 32.50 EUR.
It was a good day, I was a little disappointed that I didn’t get really good Portuguese food, but that’s alright, that’s sometimes the way traveling can be. It was still an excellent day and we enjoyed some good restaurants in Lisbon.

Travel with Scenic | Spain & Portugal
Visit our website for more information:
See below for a transcript of the video:
Let Scenic take you on an unforgettable journey to discover the spectacular sights of Spain and Portugal.
From the magnificent architecture of their palaces and cathedrals, to the colour and spectacle of their dancers, you’ll be astounded by the rich diversity of these fascinating countries.
Our journey begins in the vibrant city of Barcelona. Revitalised for the 1992 Olympics, this picturesque city is renowned for Europe's best-preserved Gothic Quarter.
A special highlight will be a visit to Gaudí's unfinished masterpiece…
the Cathedral of the Sagrada Familia
a visually stunning Cathedral and Barcelona's most important landmark.
We also visit Guell Park, a playful urban park featuring peaceful greens,
winding paths and many sculptures and mosaics designed by Gaudi himself including gingerbread gatehouses, patchwork lizards and much more.
Following the coastline south we’ll visit the fortified seaport of Pensicola before our arrival to the coastal city of Valencia. Among the highlights of our included guided tour, will be the ‘City of Arts and Sciences’ – the most important modern tourist destination in the city. From here we head to the hilltop town of Granada, nestled amongst the Sierra Nevada, Spain's highest mountain range.
At the centrepiece of the city lies one of the most brilliant jewels of world architecture …the Alhambra, a series of magnificent palaces, fountains and gardens, built in the 14th century. Within the Alhambra stands the massive Palace of Charles the fifth, an outstanding example of Spanish
Renaissance architecture.
Visit Sacromonte (Sac-Ro-Mone-E), famous for its cave dwellings and once the home of Granada's large gypsy community. Here we enjoy a Scenic exclusive: an evening of authentic flamenco dancing in the caves.
Retire to the Palacio de Santa Paola, located in the historic centre, surrounded by stunning garden terraces. A short trip finds us in Cordoba, for a guided visit of the incredible Mezquita, a Gothic Christian cathedral housed inside a large Moorish Mosque.
Travel to Ronda, one of Andalucía’s loveliest towns, steeped in history.
It stands on a towering plateau in the mountains of Malaga Province
and is famous for the plunging river gorge which divides the medieval and 18th century parts of the town.
It is the oldest and the most beautiful in Spain and the arena itself is also the country's largest. We continue towards the Portuguese border to Seville, one of Spain's most charming cities. Enjoy exploring the city sights including the Cathedral housing the tomb of Christopher Columbus and step aboard a horse drawn carriage which will wind through the city’s streets and alleyways.
In Lisbon, we visit the lovely port area, the Alfama (Al-Fam-A) Quarter, with its picturesque cobbled streets and the Avenida de Liberdade (Aven-Knee-Da der Liber-Dad) – the monument to the famous Portuguese explorers – as well as the Belem (bell-eim) Tower.
Located on the Douro River Estuary in Northern Portugal, Porto is one of the oldest European centres and was once an outpost of the Roman Empire. Among the highlights of our stay in Porto is a special dinner cruise aboard a traditional ‘Rabelo’(har-bell-o) boat in this fabulously pretty city and a tasting of the city’s namesake.
You’ll have a fun filled afternoon where you may try your hand, and your feet, at a local ‘Tablao’ (tab-lowe) for a fun and energetic afternoon of Flamenco Dance, or for the sportsters you may choose to visit the Bernabeau Football stadium as well as the Trophy Museum of Real Madrid!
Scenic also offer an exciting Spain & Portugal itinerary. On our journey we’ll meet the locals at the charming villages, explore UNESCO World Heritage sites and cities, and absorb the intoxicating culture that is unmistakably Spain & Portugal.
If you would like to extend your journey and discover more of Europe’s treasures, some only accessible by water, why not add a river cruise along Europe’s grand waterways?
Including, new is 2016, Scenic’s newest spaceship will begin to cruise the Douro river from Portugal to Spain.
This river cruise will let you see the best of Portugal and its famed Douro Valley; discover this regions colourful history or simply enjoy the tantalizing tastes and flavours of one of Europe’s Hidden gems.

France is a country whose territory consists of metropolitan France in western Europe, as well as several overseas regions and territories. The metropolitan area of France extends from the Mediterranean Sea to the English Channel and the North Sea, and from the Rhine to the Atlantic Ocean. The overseas territories include French Guiana in South America and several islands in the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian oceans. The country's 18 integral regions (five of which are situated overseas) span a combined area of 643,801 square kilometres (248,573 sq mi) and a total population of 67.15 million (as of October 2017). France is a unitary semi-presidential republic with its capital in Paris, the country's largest city and main cultural and commercial centre. Other major urban centres include Marseille, Lyon, Lille, Nice, Toulouse and Bordeaux.
During the Iron Age, what is now metropolitan France was inhabited by the Gauls, a Celtic people. Rome annexed the area in 51 BC, holding it until the arrival of Germanic Franks in 476, who formed the Kingdom of France. France emerged as a major European power in the Late Middle Ages following its victory in the Hundred Years' War (1337 to 1453). During the Renaissance, French culture flourished and a global colonial empire was established, which by the 20th century would be the second largest in the world. The 16th century was dominated by religious civil wars between Catholics and Protestants (Huguenots). France became Europe's dominant cultural, political, and military power under Louis XIV. In the late 18th century, the French Revolution overthrew the absolute monarchy, established one of modern history's earliest republics, and saw the drafting of the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen, which expresses the nation's ideals to this day.
In the 19th century Napoleon took power and established the First French Empire. His subsequent Napoleonic Wars shaped the course of continental Europe. Following the collapse of the Empire, France endured a tumultuous succession of governments culminating with the establishment of the French Third Republic in 1870. France was a major participant in World War I, from which it emerged victorious, and was one of the Allied Powers in World War II, but came under occupation by the Axis powers in 1940. Following liberation in 1944, a Fourth Republic was established and later dissolved in the course of the Algerian War. The Fifth Republic, led by Charles de Gaulle, was formed in 1958 and remains today. Algeria and nearly all the other colonies became independent in the 1960s and typically retained close economic and military connections with France.
France has long been a global centre of art, science, and philosophy. It hosts Europe's third-largest number of cultural UNESCO World Heritage Sites and leads the world in tourism, receiving around 83 million foreign visitors annually. France is a developed country with the world's seventh-largest economy by nominal GDP, and ninth-largest by purchasing power parity. In terms of aggregate household wealth, it ranks fourth in the world. France performs well in international rankings of education, health care, life expectancy, and human development. France is globally considered a great power in the world, being one of the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council with the power to veto and is an official nuclear-weapon state. It is a leading member state of the European Union and the Eurozone. It is also a member of the Group of 7, North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the World Trade Organization (WTO), and La Francophonie.
