2018 USDB Graduation Video and Slideshow
Congratulations to our 2018 Senior Graduates at the Utah School for the Deaf and the Blind! USDB just learned Utah is #1 in the nation for deaf students completing high school! This video shares a recording of the commencement ceremonies on May 17, 2018 at the Jean Massieu School of the Deaf Auditorium.
Utah Schools for the Deaf and the Blind offers comprehensive educational programs and services for Utah’s deaf, hard of hearing, blind, visually impaired, and deaf-blind children from birth to age 21 at no cost. Students receive services at either USDB campuses or through programs statewide thanks to collaborative agreements with districts and charter schools where they attend school.
USDB has served students with sensory impairments throughout Utah since 1884, when a school for the deaf first opened. When Utah attained statehood in 1896, members of the Constitutional
Convention created a school for the blind. The two merged into what is known as USDB and were housed at Ogden’s old Territorial Reform School. Over the years, services provided by USDB have met the changing needs of students and families using modern technology and individualized, child-centered teaching strategies.

Utah Shakespeare Festival - Organization Leadership in the Arts
The 2011 Governor's Leadership in the Arts Awards were presented by Governor Olene Walker at a luncheon concurrent with the Mountain West Arts Conference on May 5, 2011 at the Utah Cultural Celebration Center.
Honorees included: A. Scott Anderson - Individual Leadership in the Arts; Kanab City - Community Leadership in the Arts; K. Newell Dayley - Education Leadership in the Arts; Utah Shakespeare Festival - Organization Leadership in the Arts
The Governor's Awards were created in 1980 to honor individuals and organizations who encourage and support arts and culture in Utah. In 2002 the awards were put on hold as the state prepared for the Olympics. As part of the first annual Mountain West Conference on the Arts the awards were reinstated in 2007. In a time when innovative artistic and cultural projects are continually emerging throughout the state, we look forward to many future years of honoring Utah's artistic visionaries and supporters.

Shakespeare's Globe
Shakespeare's Globe is a reconstruction of the Globe Theatre, an Elizabethan playhouse in the London Borough of Southwark, on the south bank of the River Thames that was originally built in 1599, destroyed by fire in 1613, rebuilt in 1614, and then demolished in 1644. The modern reconstruction is an academic approximation based on available evidence of the 1599 and 1614 buildings. It was founded by the actor and director Sam Wanamaker and built about 230 metres (750 ft) from the site of the original theatre and opened to the public in 1997, with a production of Henry V. The site also includes the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse, an indoor theatre which opened in January 2014. This is a reconstruction of the Blackfriars Theatre, another Elizabethan theatre.
