Join us as we visit Stellenbosch, South Africa showcasing the best things to do in Stellenbosch in this travel guide to the Cape Winelands region of the Western Cape. Our focus was of course touring around world class vineyards and wine farms in and around Stellenbosch; however, we also covered some of best outdoor activities and cultural experiences such as going on a vineyard segway tour, wine safari, visiting a township and eating a local Xhosa meal. Stellenbosch town has numerous attractions worth visiting and a wonderful cafe, restaurant and nightlife scene. Fortunately, we had a chance to explore on foot and bicycle to see a different side of town. On our very first trip to South Africa we spent one day in Stellenbosch where we did a wine tour and hit up a total of 5 wineries. It was an action packed day but we knew we had only seen a fraction of what this place has to offer and we were itching to return! Fast forward two years, and we found ourselves with an invitation to come and experience Stellenbosch, this time with a week to spare. Naturally we said yes! This being the winelands meant that our itinerary was wine heavy, but we also got to see sample the food, visit the markets, check out the nightlife and get close to nature. The following is our travel guide to Stellenbosch, pour yourself a glass of wine, sit back, and join us on this ride!
In between all the feasting and vineyard hopping, we also found a bit of time to explore Stellenbosch itself. Stellenbosch is a charming town located in the Western Cape, and it’s the second oldest European settlement in the province after Cape Town. The streets are lined with oak trees, the buildings are all painted white, and you have a cool mix of Early Cape, Cape Dutch, and Victorian architecture.
And while Sam was off hiking, I did a biking tour of Stellenbosch with the Adventure Shop, where I learned a bit more about the town’s history, and got out in nature, before biking over to the Lanzerac Wine Estate where we met up with the group again. Here we had a light lunch featuring a spread of cheese, deli meats, fresh fruits, and of course, wine!
And just like that our week in Stellenbosch was over! I think it’s fair to say that we left a few pounds heavier, but with a newfound appreciation for South African wine and a taste of what the winelands have to offer. With a star studded guest list and the beautiful Stellenbosch mountain range as the backdrop, Layla & Cheslin started the day with great excitement and a slight hint of nervousness.
With both parties getting dressed at Webersburg it was a mini battle between bride and groom to not sneak a peek throughout the morning.
Shooting both Layla & Cheslin was so easy as this couple needed no help being intimate and full of love during the couple shoot. Cheslin could not get enough of his wife and all we needed to do was point our cameras in their direction.

Stellenbosch Forum: South-Africa: 20 years later
Is South Africa better or worse off after 20 years of democracy? Is the current political landscape an outcome of specific decisions that were taken (or not) in 1994?
These are just some of the questions panellists tried to answer during a special Stellenbosch Forum discussion on Monday (7 April 2014). The event, which commemorates our country's first democratic elections held on 27 April 1994, took place in the Auditorium of the JS Gericke Library at Stellenbosch University (SU).
Proff Willie Esterhuyse, Willie Breytenbach and Sampie Terreblanche discussed the topic South-Africa: 20 years later.
The Stellenbosch Forum lecture series was started in 1990 and provides regular opportunities to staff and students at SU, as well as interested people from the public, to learn more about the relevant, world-class research that is being done at SU.

This video just sums up the week I had in Cape Town. I Visited the Creamery with a high school friend of mine , learnt how to eat Ice cream and waffles efficiently, My friends at STELLIES invited me over to kerkies to enjoy a braai, a delicious chocolate pudding and good music. I went home and was met with the mischievous gaze of ALU, my next door neighbor's child and to top it all of, was treated to Rocco Mams in Rondebosch by my cousin-Bae.

You know I am always complaining about how wine consultants always rush through a tasting- I was so lucky to experience, for second time actually a wine tasting that made me love wine!
They treated me to their new wine range called #SEAWARD which is just launching and I am one of the few people that have been exclusively invited to try it out.
