AGIA PELAGIA BEACH CRETA GREECE (FLYING IN AGIA PELAGIA)
Agia Pelagia beach is about 20 kilometers west of Heraklion on the north coast of the island Crete
the name is taken from the village that is there and now is turned to a quiet small touristik town that offers everything
to the traveller.
Agia Pelagia beach is very popular for locals and tourists becouse the beach is actually a gulf or a natural harbor
facing the east and that protect it from the north winds (meltemia) and turn it to a huge natural swimming pool with
crystal clear calm water that you can see the bottom even in deep water.
The visitors has to be extreme careful becouse there is no road junction and if you go from Heraklion or
you need to leave to the direction of Rethimnon you will have to cross the highway and at that point you need to
be very carefull.Road junction just started to be build so it will still need some time.

Crete | Agia Pelagia Beach. About 21 Km west of Heraklion, one can visit the beach of Agia Pelagia. You can get to this small village by car or more easily using the bus services from Heraklion.
There are many accommodation choices, taverns and restaurants, ATM's and super markets and all of them located within walking distance of the main beach of Agia Pelagia.
It is a narrow sandy beach with many sunbeds and umbrellas. The waters are shallow and the beach is often crowded.
Popular among locals who like to combine a swim with a tasty lunch or a cocktail in one of the beach bars, it is also a popular destination among tourists.
Make sure that you take a walk to Psaroumoura beach, which is a small distance away. Whether if you are the party type or you prefer a nice swim then Agia Pelagia is the place to be.

Crete Agia Pelagia
Agia Pelagia (Greek: Αγία Πελαγία, Saint Pelagia) is a seaside fishing village built in the centre of a picturesque amphitheatric bay, 23 km northwest from Heraklion capital city of the island of Crete.
It takes its name from the homonymous church, in the Monastery of the Sebbathians, ruins of which are found at a distance of 1 km west of the village. The town also has sandy beaches that attract tourists.[1]
In Agia Pelagia there are the post-minoan graves and the University (Prtanion) of the 4th century BC which were found in 1970 at the site Kladistos or Kladotos. Also there is a nearby cave, with the name Evresi, where - according to legend - local people found the icon of Agia Pelagia.
In Agia Pelagia there are outcrops of blue-greenschist rock. This rock was quarried and used to pave streets and floors of Minoan palaces between 1650 and 1600 BC.

Agia Pelagia (Santa Pelagia) is located 21km west of Heraklion, on the west side of a long peninsula, which has many small coves with beautiful beaches. Agia Pelagia, initially a small and picturesque village built from the residents of Achlada village, transformed into a very popular tourist resort with many hotels, restaurants, cafes, bars, internet cafés, ATMs, taxi, etc., that is connected with regular bus services to Heraklion.
The main beach of the settlement is a long and narrow beach with sand and greenish waters. The Turks named the Gulf of Agia Pelagia in Tsanak Limani, because the area reminded them of a plate (tsanak = plate). Indeed, the water is almost always calm here and the bay forms a tranquil harbor. The beach offers many options for watersports, diving,umbrellas, food and accommodation. In recent years thousands of locals have fun daily in the beach bars of Agia Pelagia and choose its beach for swimming.
