Ali'i Drive, Kailua Kona, Hawaii 4K
Please enjoy a mid-morning 45 minute walk down Ali'i drive from the Royal Kona Resort down to the harbor. I stop and take lots of short video clips up and down Ali'i Drive to give you the feel of the town. This video was shot on February 24th, 2017.
Ali'i Drive is the main street in Kailua-Kona on the western side of Island of Hawaii, United States. It is a coastal road, which faces the Bay of Kailua, which is home to many historical sites, resort hotels, souvenir shops, markets and churches.
Ali'i Drive starts from the crossing with Kuakini Highway, just north of Kailua Pier, and ends at Keauhou Shopping Center in Keauhou, with the northern part of the drive being busiest.
At Kailua Pier, passengers from cruise ships come ashore by launches. Along the road are souvenir shops for tourists as well as local businesses, a farmers' market and many resort hotels of varying sizes.
The historical sites are: Ahuena Heiau where King Kamehameha spent his retired life, the Hulihee Palace which was used by the royal family of the Hawaiian Kingdom, Mokuaikaua Church which was the first church in Hawaii, and St. Michael's Catholic Church.

Ancient ruins? Human sacrifice?
If you are the kind of person who enjoys the excitement of archeology, then this next spot on your tour around the island maybe just what you are looking for. Centuries ago the inhabitants of this region built a series of sacred temples, or heiaus, which were originally used for the purpose of sacrificing human beings to their war god, Kuka'ilimoku. This particular archeological site is called Ahu'ena Heiau, which in Hawaiian means Hill of Fire.
Take a moment to stop here for a look, who knows what you may find. Who knows what spirits you my encounter. In any event, as you take the time to examine the reconstructed grounds of this particular heiau, keep in mind that to this very day these are places of sanctity and solace for many of the native Hawai'ians. As with all such places, remember to respect this setting as well by not removing anything whatsoever from the site. Meanwhile, as you ponder in your minds just what it is you're looking at, consider a little history...

Gate mysteriously opens on the Kona Haunted Hele ghost tour | Big Island Ghost Tours
Last Friday night, July 17 2015, we had a really awesome Kona Haunted Hele tour, one of the best yet. All the guests, which included three youths who have done ghost tours in the past with mom, experienced a major supernatural event, and there was no short supply of chicken skin! A locked gate mysteriously opened right in front of everyone, multiple anomalies captured on film around the same time, and lots of activity on the dowsing rods and Mel Meter in response to our questions. Needless to say, everyone had a really good time!
The guests each had a cool research instrument courtesy of Kahuna Research Group, and were well prepared to deal with such an event. Our guides are certified paranormal investigators specifically trained to understand the supernatural, who not only know the stories and legends, they have actually investigated them and are currently involved in active paranormal cases.
Each tour is like an investigation / historical tour in one...which makes it more exciting than any other ghost tour in Hawaii.
