This is a B Roll taken of the Aklan Freedom Shrine, a Tomb and Monument of the Brave XIX Martyrs of the Aklan Province that has been newly refurbished with the aid of the National historical Institute. The XIX Martyrs of Aklan with Gen. Castillo led the KKK revolution against the Spaniards in Aklan but less publicized. They died fighting for freedom.

Went to the Plaza and looked at the Monuments in the park, afterwards I went to the Aklan Freedom Shrine in Veteran's Avenue were even more memorial tombstones and plates are installed on and around the monument.
I literally wrote something about the Freedom shrine, which is wrong, I will redo a video about the 19 martyrs and General Castillo anyway, were I promise I will get it right... Can't remember who told me that version of the story I used in the video, but it sounded very dramatic... And in my sick head I missed to check my research first before the edit. Anyway, I never said I am an historian...

KASAYSAYAN:
Ang AKLAN kasama ang tinaguriang Capiz sa kasalukuyan, ay tinawag na “Minuro it Aklan” ng mga lumikas mula Borneo noong 1213. Dahil dito, ang Aklan ay itinuturing na pinakamatandang probinsya sa bansa. Ito ay isa sa tatlong sakop na bumubuo sa isla ng Panay. And dalawa pa ay ang Hamtic ,na ngayon ay Antique at Irong-Irong na ngayon naman ay Ilo-Ilo . Ang pangalan ng unang pinuno ng Aklan ay si Datu Bangkaya. Patungo sa katapusan ng ikalabing-apat na siglo, inilipat ni Datu Dinagandan ang kabisera mula sa Batan ng pangkasalukuyan. Ito ay naganap matapos itong sakupin ng mga manlalakbay na tsino sa pamumuno ni Kalantiaw, na naging daan upang makuha niya ang trono. Noong 1433, ang apo at tagapagmana ni Kalantiaw na si Kalantiaw III ay gumawa ng mga batas na tinatawag sa kasalukuyan na Code of Kalantiaw. Isang mananaysay na nagngangalang William Henry Scott ang nagsasabi na peke raw ang mga batas na ito. Noong 1437, and maigsing pangunguno ng angkan ni Kalantiaw ay natapos noong napuksa si Kalantiaw III sa isang duwelo kalaban si Datu Manduyog, and lehitimong tagapagmana ni Datu Dinagandan. Noong namuno na si Manduyog, inilipat nya ang kabisera sa Bakan (na ngayon ay tinatawag na Banga). Mga ilan ding datu ang sumunod kay Manduyog hanggang dumating si Miguel Lopez de Legaspi sa Batan noong 1565. Ang namumuno noong panahong iyon ay si Datu Kabanyag at ang kanyang kabisera ay Libacao. Mula noong pinamunuan ng Espanya ang Pilipinas hanggang naitaguyod ang Pilipino bilang pambansang wika, ang Aklan ay ibinaybay na “Acean”, at ang pangunahing bayan nitong Kalibo ay ibinaybay namang “Calivo”. Naging hiwalay na probinsiya ang Aklan mula sa Capiz ayon sa Republic Act 1414 na nilagdaan ni Presidente Magsaysay noong 25 Abril 1956. Opisyal na nakilala ang Aklan noong 8 Nobyembre 1956.
Katipunero Candido Iban, the first OFW from Aklan born in 1863 | Today in History
On October 3, 1863, Visayas' Katipunan leader Candido Iban was born in Capiz. He is one of the 19 martyrs of Aklan who died during the revolution and the first OFW from Malinao when he worked in Australia, diving for pearls.
