Begin your transfer tour with a pick-up at your downtown hotel at 10 am. Complimentary beverages and snacks are provided for your comfort. During our scenic drive down Turnagain Arm, your guide will point out possible wildlife like sheep, mountain goats, beluga whales, and eagles. We'll make a photo stop at the famous Beluga Point for some beautiful views and a great backdrop for stunning photography!
Next, we'll visit the quaint town of Girdwood for the aerial tram ride up the longest double black diamond ski slope in North America. From the top you can view several glaciers and the farthest northern reaches of a temperate rainforest that stretches from here all the way south to Northern California. On select days our guests visit the Roundhouse Museum. This museum is perched on the mountainside and surrounded with a panoramic viewing deck for your viewing pleasure.
Then we'll visit our favorite Girdwood bake shop for lunch (included) and bottomless homemade soup, sourdough bread, beverages, and dessert. Next, visit the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, located on 140 acres at the southern edge of Turnagain Arm. The Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center provides wildlife education and awareness, and care and rehabilitation for Alaska's wildlife. Get close, safely observe and photograph some of Alaska's largest land animals, including moose, bison, elk, deer, caribou, bears, and musk ox. Our guests also enjoy seeing small mammals like lynx, and stunning birds of prey, such bald and golden eagles.
Then we'll explore Portage Valley. Several Alpine glaciers can be seen here and, depending on the season, you may be able to view salmon spawning in one of the small creeks! Finally, enjoy a ride through the 2.5 mile Anton Anderson Memorial Tunnel, the longest one-way train and vehicle tunnel in North America. We'll arrive in Whittier at approximately 3:30 pm and transfer you directly to your cruise ship. Have plans to stay at a Whittier hotel? We'll be glad to drop you off at the hotel of your choice.

20150721: Day 44, Anchorage to Whittier, The tunnel!
The 21st July 2015, a Tuesday, was our 44th day on the road. This video is simply a travelogue depicting selected segments of the 1.5 hour trip from Anchorage to Whittier, AK where we were to meet a Phillips Cruises Tour aboard the M/V Klondike Express, the fastest catamaran in Alaska (said to be capable of speeds in excess of 45 mph) for the 12:30 PM 26 Glacier tour of Prince William Sound.
We travelled the Seward Highway (Alaska I-1) from Anchorage to the Portage Glacier Highway where we experienced a unique trip through the Anton Anderson Memorial Tunnel, otherwise known as the Whittier Tunnel on our way to Whittier. At 2.5 miles in length through Maynard Mountain, this tunnel is the 2nd longest highway tunnel and longest combined rail and highway tunnel in North America which shares both train and automotive traffic through a single bore. Ingenious! We've recorded and included the entire trip through the tunnel! Those with claustrophobia may not want to watch this segment!
We documented our travel along these two highways which comprise some of the most beautiful scenery in America with a Cobra Dash Cam recording every inch of our journey. This resulted in over 2 hours of video total, including that of Whittier as we toured the community looking for a place to park...as well as a stop at the Alaskan Maritime Highway office to pick up our ferry boat tickets for our 3rd of August 2015 ride to Bellingham, WA.The challenge was to shorten the length of this video to something time wise under 1 hour. We managed to do so while trying to keep some of the best video along the way intact.
This video was taken beginning at 6:30 AM, which in part contributed to poor lighting along the way...resulting in sometimes not the best of video quality.
The trip begins 6:30 AM on 21 July 2015, a Tuesday, at the JBER RV Park located near Anchorage, then continues into Anchorage where we admitted our two dogs to the Hound Lounge Kennels for the day while we travelled on to Whittier for the tour. We followed the Seward Highway to the Portage Glacier Highway located near the former village of Portage, destroyed by the 1964 earthquake. The trip continued to and through the Whittier Tunnel, an adventure in its own right...and on to Whittier.
This segment actually was originally part of an over two-hour video, which included the glacier tour as well. We decided that just getting to Whittier was worth its own dedicated segment...which is what this video is all about. If you bore easily, and don't enjoy windshield tourism...then you may want to pass on this video. On the other hand, we hope you will watch it, and enjoy the scenery as we did!

15 most beautiful places in Alaska
15 most beautiful places in Alaska
Alaska is one of the most amazing and beautiful places on Earth. Untouched beauty and wilderness attract many tourists every year. Take a look at the 15 most beautiful places in Alaska.
Covers six million acres in Alaska, the park is crowned by the highest peak in North America (the peak of Denali, 6910 m).
Alaska is known for its inland water cruises. Here tourists can see during a trip on a boat like the majestic Glacier Margerie separate hundred-ton icebergs, while orcas, sea lions, seals and other marine animals frolic in the crystal clear waters around it.
With a length of 1387 kilometers and stretching from Delta Junction, southeast of Fairbanks, and to Dawson Creek in British Columbia, Canada, Alaska Highway (also known as alkanes) it is one of the most scenic highways in the world. Built during the Second World War, this well-maintained road runs through some truly spectacular scenery.
If you've seen one of those photos where the brown bear (grizzly) sitting on the edge of a waterfall catches salmon in the air, it is likely that it was taken in Katmai National Park waterfall at Brooks Falls.
Alaska is known as the last frontier. Here, in the vast tundra, Alaska Natives live side-by-side with one of the largest predators in the world: the polar bear. Inupiaq village of Kaktovik in, located on an island close to the mainland - one of the best places to see these huge mammals that flock here in large numbers in the summer, while they wait for the Beaufort Sea.
Ketchikan is known as the Salmon Capital of the World, but the South Town in Alaska, too, is in itself a tourist attraction. Based on the lush, wooded slopes, picturesque Ketchikan Revillagigedo Island hugs the coast for 50 kilometers.
The lush, green hills and mountains - Kodiak give his nickname Emerald Isle is quite enough. National Wildlife Refuge Kodiak offers an unprecedented opportunity to watch brown bears, foxes and sea lions.
Idyllic Kenai Peninsula is the Playground of Alaska and its main attraction - National Park Kenai Fords- this icy wonderland, which is popular with tourists, canoeists and nature lovers.
Coldfoot City - one of the northernmost stop on the Dalton Highway. This is a wonderful place where you can marvel at the phenomenon of the Northern Lights.
Intermittent wild rivers and ice carved the valley, the National Park, some call untouched area of Switzerland. Shelter for many animals, including 145 species of birds, the park was named in honor of two of dramatic mountains that flank the river Koyyukuk, forming something like a gateway to pass.
National Park and Preserve Wrangell and St. Elias big enough. It is not only the largest in the US national park, but it is one of the largest protected wilderness areas in the world. Clinging to the Canadian border, the park consists of nine of the highest mountains on the continent.
On is next to the coast of Russia, barren, windswept Aleutian Islands are 27 of the 46 most active volcanoes in the Americas. The pearl of the archipelago is the Eastern District, where intrepid travelers will be rewarded with wild scenery, steaming volcanic craters, and a variety of birds and marine life.
After rising on the eastern outskirts of Anchorage, you can see the stunning mountains of the Chugach. They not only provide a beautiful backdrop for the city, but also act as the most accessible nature reserve in Alaska. There is a lot of hiking and biking trails, a 1.5 mile hiking trail.
One of the main transportation routes during the Klondike Gold Rush, this was a 33 kilometer hiking trail that connects the village of Daya, near the picturesque Southeast cruise port Skagway with Bennett in British Columbia, Canada. But the Chilkoot Trail is not only famous for its historical relics, but also beautiful landscapes.
One of the most picturesque villages in the sun and water travel on Alaska - the quaint, artsy town. Every autumn, thousands of bald eagles congregate to feast on spawning salmon. There are so many that they were inspired to organize the festival bald eagle in Alaska, which is held here every year in November.
What's the difference between Alaska and Georgia and how to recover after a cruise!

The park covers an area of 669,984 acres (1,046.85 sq mi; 2,711.33 km2)[1] on the Kenai Peninsula in southcentral Alaska, near the town of Seward. The park contains the Harding Icefield, one of the largest ice fields in the United States. The park is named for the numerous fjords carved by glaciers moving down the mountains from the ice field. The field is the source of at least 38 glaciers, the largest of which is Bear Glacier. The park lies just to the west of Seward, a popular port for cruise ships. Exit Glacier is reachable by road and is a popular tour destination. The remainder of the park is primarily accessible by boat. The fjords are glacial valleys that have been submerged below sea level by a combination of rising sea levels and land subsidence.
Kenai Fjords National Monument was initially designated by President Jimmy Carter on December 1, 1978, using the Antiquities Act, pending final legislation to resolve the allotment of public lands in Alaska. Establishment as a national park followed the passage of the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act in 1980. The park protects the icefield, a narrow fringe of forested land between the mountains and the sea, and the deeply indented coastline. The park is home to a variety of terrestrial and marine mammals, including black bears, whales (humpback and killer whales), seals and moose.

Alaska earthquake today: Live coverage of aftermath of 7.0 magnitude quake near Anchorage
Back-to-back earthquakes measuring 7.0 and 5.8 rocked buildings and buckled roads Friday morning in Anchorage, prompting people to run from their offices or take cover under desks and triggering a warning to residents in Kodiak to flee to higher ground for fear of a tsunami
This is a developing story. Follow the latest news here:
Officials issued a tsunami warning for coastal areas of southern Alaska after earthquake, but that was later rescinded.
There were no immediate reports of any deaths or serious injuries. The U.S. Geological Survey said the first and more powerful quake was centered about 7 miles north of Anchorage, Alaska's largest city, with a population of about 300,000.
People ran from their offices or took cover under desks. Cracks could be seen in a two-story downtown Anchorage building, and photographs posted to social media showed fractured roads and collapsed ceiling tiles at an Anchorage high school.
One image showed a car stranded on an island of pavement, surrounded by cavernous cracks where the earthquake split the road.
