Harriman Fjord paddle - Prince William Sound Alaska
Harriman Fjord in Alaska's Prince William Sound much surely be one of the best kayaking destinations in the world. It is sheltered and stunningly beautiful, with many calving glaciers and abundant wildlife. This 4 day trip in late May 2017 started off in Whittier, a strange town born out of second world war secrecy. From here a private charter took us 35 miles in to Harriman. We use local outfitters Alaska Sea Kayakers owned by the very helpful Pete Denmark. Our guide for the trip was Victor Shen and he was both a fantastic companion and very knowledgeable guide. If you love kayaking add this paddle to your list. We recommend

A Sea Kayaking Trip to Alaska's Prince William Sound in 1987
The photos in this video/slideshow were taken over a six day period in the summer of 1987 during a sea kayaking trip through Alaska's Prince William Sound.

Alaska Yellow Eye & Lingcod Fishing
Many argue Alaska offers the best yellow eye, rockfish and lingcod fishing in the world. Without hesitation, Team Pautzke flew north to Anchorage, hopped on a plane to Kenai and drove to Seward to hop on a boat in search of trophy bottomfish action.
Rather than hire a guide, two of our pros, Luke Haman of Kenai River Guides and John Albrich searched the topographic charts to find remote islands where we could test our brines and scents and see how well we could catch fish, even with no prior experience. None of us had ever fished this area, roughly 100 miles from Seward. Fortunately, success echoed the entire three days we spent on the Pacific Ocean.
Armed with herring marinated in Pautzke Chartreuse Fire Brine and Halibut & Rockfish Nectar, we dropped our herring tipped jigs to bottom in search of rocky pinnacles and were able to induce strikes on every drift from various rockfish species. Combined with world class scenery, intimate encounters with wildlife and rare calm, sunny days on the open ocean, it was an unforgettable experience we'll all never forget.

EXPLORING CASTLE ISLANDS in SOUTHEAST ALASKA VLOG EP. 5
Southeast Alaska has 2,670 named islands to explore! The adventures are never ending, if you have a way to get there. We were in invited to visit Castle Island with some friends. So after work on a Friday we packed our bags and loaded up the skiff to head out to see an island I had never been to, part of the Castle Island cluster. Funny how you think you can go somewhere and that no one has EVER been there before. That was not the case, but still as you see the footage I hope you are as amazed as I was at the beauty of this island.

Matanuska Glacier Walk Tour - Anchorage, Alaska
After being picked up from your hotel, we'll make our way towards the Matanuska Glacier where you will spend over 2 hours directly on the glacier with a glacier guide by your side, learning how the Matanuska Glacier was born and how it shaped the landscape in the Matanuska Susitna Valley. Explore blue meltwater pools, the ice formations and deep crevasses.
Walking on ice is slippery fun, so our guests are equipped with a helmet, a walking stick and crampons that attach to your shoes. We require our guests to bring sturdy footwear and suggest that you bring an extra pair of socks.
Don't be surprised that your shoes get filthy with glacial flour. This glacial till is finely ground rock the glacier has created - it makes for great facials! This tour does require walking for about 2 hours. Our fully-guided transportation includes a pick up at your hotel in Anchorage as well as water and snacks in the touring vehicle.
We will also stop for lunch where we'll overlook the glacier while enjoying some yummy Alaskan fare.

Portage Pass Trail Hike to Portage Glacier - Alaska April 2019 - Travel Vlog
Alaska’s natural beauty (and wildlife) should be a wake up call to help preserve and conserve the Earth’s health. It’s absolutely amazing how mankind fits in the universal scheme of things, and how precarious nature’s reserves have become.
We had a free day, and I read about a 1-2 mile hike (one way) that would take us to a stunning vista of a glacier just 1.5 hour drive south if Anchorage to Whittier down Turnagain Arm, which provides a stunning scenic drive. You will take the Anton Anderson Tunnel (Whittier Tunnel), which was designed for one-way train use, although it shares the passage with cars, so there is schedule for taking turns. Once you are through, cross over the railroad tracks onto a gravel road. As for parking, we copied other cars that parked right outside the trailhead.
Well… I did not read the fine print, because the hike takes an incline towards 750-800 ft (above sea level) up Maynard mountain! There is no map or trail signs to point the way, just a fairly established trail. The “lookout” will not be obvious, so just head towards people resting on a small plateau. It’s also dog friendly, however, I’m not sure about it being kid friendly. It is a great hike that rewards you with a view of Portage Glacier.
