Alexandre Yersin, explorateur 1892-1894
Alexandre Emile Jean Yersin (22 September 1863-1 March 1943) was a Swiss and French physician and bacteriologist. He is remembered as the co-discoverer of the bacillus responsible for the bubonic plague or pest, which was later renamed in his honour (Yersinia pestis).
I bought this movie in his museum is located in Nha Trang, Vietnam. One very nice woman, Vietnamese, works there as head of the museum, offered to buy it. There are some notes on Vietnam made by the researcher. This film is very old and I hope he will be able to survive for long time on this site.

The advantages of Nha Trang Palace Hotel
- The convenient location, 100 meters from the Futa bus station and 100 meters from the bus to the airport. The embankment and the beach is across the road!
- The delicious and varied breakfast
- A water was brought twice a day, a cleaning was good.
- Nothing from the room was not lost.
- Near the hotel is a seafood restaurant with full buffet, lunch is about $10, evening dinner is about $12. The songs and dances are performed in the restaurant in the evening with the amateur level of performance.
- The suite room was very small, although the sea-view from the room was pleased!
- There is an outdoor pool on the 7th floor where we had room. The pool offers a beautiful view of the city. The water in the pool was cold and there was a strong wind on the terrace, although there was no wind at the bottom.
The disadvantages of Nha Trang Palace Hotel:
- There was a construction site Near the hotel! The work starts at 6 am, and ends in the middle of the night! The view from the window of our room wasn’t to the construction site, but the noise was still terrible !!!
- The prices in the shopping centers on the embankment are greatly inflated and calculated for tourists. There are shopping centers with normal prices (Maximark, Lotte Mart), even 2-3 times lower than near the hotel, but you need to go there by taxi.
The city of Nha Trang can be called Resort only conditionally! The quay and the first two streets with hotels are intended for tourists only. The further streets have the numerous shops of construction materials, stores, and repair shops. The very active traffic and the high level of exhaust.
We have rested in Nha Trang in January 2017. The weather was not so good. It was often heavy rain.

Nha Trang (Vietnamese pronunciation: [ɲaː ʈʂaːŋ] ( listen)) is a coastal city and capital of Khanh Hoa province, on the South Central Coast of Vietnam. It is bounded on the North by Ninh Hoà district, on the East by the South China Sea, on the South by Cam Ranh town and on the West by Diên Khánh district. The city has about 300,000 inhabitants, a number which is projected to increase to between 500,000 and 600,000 inhabitants by 2020[citation needed] according to an estimation of Nha Trang Administrative Board Statistics.
Nha Trang is well known for its pristine beaches and excellent scuba diving and is fast becoming a popular destination for international tourists, attracting large numbers of backpackers as well as more affluent travellers on the Southeast Asia circuit. It is already very popular with Vietnamese tourists. Nha Trang Bay is widely considered as amongst the world's most beautiful bays. Tourists are welcome to participate in the Sea Festival, held biennially. Nha Trang was the site of the Miss Universe 2008 Pageant on July 14, 2008 and Miss Earth 2010 held December 4, 2010.Besides, Nha Trang was also approved to host 2016 Asian Beach Games.
Historically, the city was known as Kauthara under the Champa. The city is still home to the famous Po Nagar Tower built by the Champa. Being a coastal city, Nha Trang is a centre for marine science based at the Nha Trang Oceanography Institute. The Hon Mun marine protected area is one of four first marine protected areas in the world admitted by the IUCN.
Commercial flights to Nha Trang no longer use the city's municipal airport, but fly to the larger Cam Ranh International Airport, a former U.S. Air Force Base (built during the Vietnam War) located approximately 35 km south of Nha Trang (see the Transport section below for additional details).
The French-Swiss bacteriologist Alexandre Yersin (who discovered the Yersinia pestis bacterium) identified himself with Nha Trang's life for 50 years (affectionately known as Ông Năm). He established the Indochina Pasteur Institute (now known as the Nha Trang Pasteur Institute) devoted to research on the bubonic plague. Yersin died in Nha Trang on 1 March 1943. A street in the city is named after him, there is a shrine located next to his tomb, and his house has been converted into the Yersin Museum.

We tried to make the drive up Hon Ba Mountain, where can be found a small museum dedicated to Alexandre Yersin. It was not to be; the upper part of the road was closed to tourists, so we merely got a nice long mountain ride out of it.
