Adventuring Delhi’s history

When Babur invaded India and laid the foundation of an extensive Mughal empire in 1526 in Agra, which lay along the eastern bank of river Yamuna, the city experienced an unparalleled era of glory, wealth, grandeur and architectural splendour.
The Taj Mahal was built by the Third mughal emperor Shahjahan which he created this eulogy of love in the memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz who died during childbirth.

What is special about Taj Mahal ?
* Taj Mahal is a breathtaking white-marble mausoleum commissioned by Mughul emperor Shah Jahan for his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal
* Located on the southern bank of the Yamuna River near Agra, India
* It took 22 years to build and finally reached completion in 1653 and cost approximately 32 million rupees
* 28 types of jewels are set in the marble
* It is built of white marble that reflects hues according to the intensity of the sunlight or the moonlight
Best time to go Taj Mahal ….
* You can visit the Taj Mahal any time of the year, but I recommend visiting in the winter months from November to February to avoid the heat or the summer rainy season.
* Can Visit during full moon day (Nighttime: 08:30 pm to 12:30 am. The night view of the monument is only available 5 days a month: the full moon night and 2 days before and after that day)

Taj Mahal is located at Agra, which is just 204 kms from the capital city of India, New Delhi. Hence the place is easily accessible via

Travel vlog in India!!!! I went on a study abroad trip to India and visited the cities of Delhi, Agra, Varanasi, and Mumbai. Here is a small taste of this wonderful country! Comment below with your experiences in India and any must see sights you visited. :)
New Dehli
In New Dehli, we did a variety of activities. We explored government buildings, shopped at bazaars (one of them called, Chandi Chowk and another Dilli Haat), and discussed social justice issues with a Dalit Neighborhood. We visited DMS-IIT University and shortly after we stopped by the theatre to watch a show at Kingdom of Dreams. Some of the sight seeing destinations we visited included parts of Old Delhi like Red Fort (a red sandstone marvel), Raj Ghat (memorial to Mahatma Gandhi), and the Jama Masjid which is the largest mosque in India. We also had a meeting and discussion with the Dalit Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry Representatives about business in India and struggles of the Dalit businesspeople in India. Other landmarks we visited included the Lotus Temple (a non-denominational religious temple) and Nizamuddin Basti. Some restaurants we ate at included Lazeez Affaire, Le Meridien Hotel, and The Lodi Restaurant.
Agra
In Agra, we visited the Taj Mahal which was built by Shah Jahan in 1560 in memory of his queen Mumtaz Mahal. To this day, her mortal remains stay in the Taj in a shrine. 20,000 people worked on this wonder of the world that took 17 years to complete from many countries including Persia, Turkey, France and Italy.
Varanasi
Varanasi is the religious center of India and it was an honor to experience it firsthand! In Varanasi, we did a historical walk, boat ride for sight seeing and a tour to Sarnath. Sarnath is a the place where Lord Buddha delivered his first sermon, teaching about the principles of Buddhism. Sarnath is a cite of building remains that date back to 3rd century BC when Emperor Ashoka founded many institutions, monasteries and pillar Edicts. In addition, we visited the Archaeological Museum, Dhameka Stupa (monastery ruins area), the Mahabodhi Buddha temple, and Deer Park.
Some places we had lunch at included Apex restaurant and Vatika Cafe.
Mumbai
In Mumbai, famous for Bollywood, we visited the Colaba market, explored Karjat, and went on a Blue Bombay tour with a professor. One of the greatest sights we saw were the Elephanta Caves on Elephanta Island. To get to the island, we went on a boat ride by the Gateway of India. Some placed we dined at include, Alibaba restaurant, Lings Pavilion and Pizza By The Bay.

The Taj Mahal from Persian and Arabic, crown of palaces, pronounced also the Taj is a white marble mausoleum located in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India. It was built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his third wife, Mumtaz Mahal. The Taj Mahal is widely recognized as the jewel of Muslim art in India and one of the universally admired masterpieces of the world's heritage.
Taj Mahal is regarded by many as the finest example of Mughal architecture, a style that combines elements from Islamic, Persian, Ottoman Turkish and Indian architectural styles.In 1983, the Taj Mahal became a UNESCO World Heritage Site. While the white domed marble mausoleum is the most familiar component of the Taj Mahal, it is actually an integrated complex of structures. The construction began around 1632 and was completed around 1653, employing thousands of artisans and craftsmen. The construction of the Taj Mahal was entrusted to a board of architects under imperial supervision, including Abd ul-Karim Ma'mur Khan, Makramat Khan, and Ustad Ahmad Lahauri.Lahauri is generally considered to be the principal designer.
