Aliso Beach Park, Laguna Beach, CA
Aliso Beach County Park Laguna Beach California
Located right of the Pacific Coast Highway California route1 right where Aliso creek drains into the ocean. No fishing is allowed at this park, and there are restrooms and a concession stand nearby. Free entrance to pedestrians, and only one dollar an hour to park, as at all Orange County Beaches, which is cheap because I seen some beach areas, especially around Newport Beach, that charge up to 15 dollars to park. Southern California is known for its water sports and Aliso Beach Park is no exception. Swimming, skimboarding, surfing, skin diving and paddle boarding all take place in the waters off Aliso. Sunbathing, tidepool exploration and sand castle building are also beach related activities. A tot lot is provided for children. LAST. facebook.com/rishayan

Aliso Beach, Laguna Beach, CA (June 2019)
Aliso Beach County Park, a popular sandy beach in South Laguna Beach. Access to Treasure Island Beach is down a long graded concrete ramp on the southwest side of the Montage Resort. There is a large flat platform at the bottom of the Treasure Island wheelchair accessible beach access. West of this platform you can hike on the rocks around the point through a natural arch on the way to Middle Man Cove and Goff Cove beyond that.

Aliso Beach Pier 1997 Laguna Beach CA.- now demolished
Aliso Beach Pier was once located in south Laguna Beach California.
Built approx 1971 took many heavy beatings from a very powerful area of steep beach shore break surf year round.
It was especially the El Niño years that did the most damage 1983 and 1986, after closure for a few years, in 1989 a fairly expensive reconstruction process took place and actually did a good job with a reopening celebration which only lasted for a few more years, then the final blows came during winter 1997-1998!
The main problem is this small area of coastline has a deep drop off underwater canyon much like the pass you see on Pacific Coast Hwy as you drive through above sea level.
This funnels and magnifies unimpeded swells mainly from the south in summer, but general all year round from the west also,.after a few decades.the steel and porous concrete contruction could not hold up to mother ocean over time.
Basically almost like building a pier at Cylinders The Wedge (although not quite as much power as that ), Aliso Beach can still deliver quite a punch, and during high surf i suggest very experienced wave goers only!!
If you notice in this video, nobody swimming around out there, even though not much if any side current, the bottom has some leftover small concrete rubble mostly along the steep shoreline, so caution on that also! There is 1 person out which looks like a boogie boarder on the north side at approx 5:25 trying to get the manly imposssible to make left tube slider off the pier? I had my eye on that guy but i must have missed it, if he got one?
Also interesting is the beginning of this video starting at approx 0:40 secs you can hear that set wave hit those loose pilings making a loud thump!- it took a split second for the sound to travel to my camera's mic location.
Besides just a great view of Laguna Beach from the end of the pier approx 660 feet long and 35 feet high, the fishing was some of the best around!
An assortment of bass, perch, halibut, sheephead, mackeral, baracuda, croakers, bonita, just to name a few with the usual stingrays and sandsharks.
The pier had a unique open center diamond section that even lurd in afew lobsters and crabs.
Skimboarding is most popular here along with boogie boards, bodysurfing and sometimes surfing.
Occasionally the shape can provide a few very powerful tubey sections, winter north end off Aliso Creek, Sumner south end Camel Point and inbetween where the pier used to be.
Sometimes mostly winter during heavy rains water quality can be verybad washing out of Aliso Creek, although making a very tempting sandbar-hmmmm?
Parking is usually easy at about $1 per hour or with state pass, there are a few fire pits, restrooms and snackbar. It seems fishing is not allowed anymore?
The good thing is hornets, and yellow jackets that were known to infest the area at times due to the lure smell of fresh fish bait etc. are less likely now?
Aliso is Spanish for Alder which are some of the beautiful trees you can see here mostly along the creek, they also provide very nice shade.

Forgot to share that the snack bar offers vegetarian options and the trolley is free from June to August so you can go beach hopping. We also went to Downtown Laguna Beach and had delicious Gelato @ Gelato Paradiso. Laguna Beach had a great playground for the kids. The other beaches the Trolley can take you to is 1000 Steps Beach and Crystal Beach. There are probably more, if you know post below.

Aliso Beach and Gucci Mansion in Laguna Beach
Located at 31131 South Coast Highway, Aliso Beach Park is one of the most family-friendly beaches. Picnic tables, fire pits, playground equipment and tot lot, concession building, large sandy beaches and views of wildlife perched atop rock promontories just off the shoreline make Aliso Beach a great place for kids. Activities include surfing, tide pool exploration, sandcastle building and, of course, sunbathing.
