What Lies Beneath - All Hallows By The Tower (HD)
All Hallows-by-the-Tower is an ancient Anglican church located in Byward Street in the City of London, overlooking the Tower of London. This episode allows you to explore the nave with its blackened walls from a WWII bomb explosion & fire, then descend to the crypts to see burial remains and an ancient Roman road. All Hallows is steeped in drama and history. It was first established in 675 by the Saxon Abbey at Barking and was for many years named after the abbey, as All Hallows Barking. The church was built on the site of a former Roman building, traces of which have been discovered in the crypt. It was expanded and rebuilt several times between the 11th century and 15th century. Its proximity to the Tower meant that it acquired royal connections, with Edward IV making it a royal chantry and the beheaded victims of Tower executions being sent for temporary burial at All Hallows. The church was badly damaged by a nearby explosion in 1649, which demolished its west tower, and only narrowly survived the Great Fire of London in 1666. It owed its survival to Admiral William Penn, father of William Penn of Pennsylvania fame, who saved it by having the surrounding buildings demolished to create firebreaks. In 1926 a Roman pavement together with many artifacts was discovered many feet below the church. Restored in the late 19th century, All Hallows was gutted by The Blitz in World War II and required extensive reconstruction, only being rededicated in 1957. Many portions of the old church survived the war and have been sympathetically restored [2]. Its outer walls are 15th century, with a 7th century Saxon doorway surviving from the original church. Many brasses remain in the interior (where one of London's brass rubbing centres is now located). Three outstanding wooden statues of saints dating from the 15th and 16th centuries can also be found in the church, as can an exquisite font cover which was carved in 1682 by Grinling Gibbons for ₤12, and which is regarded by many as one of the finest pieces of carving in London. In 1999 the AOC Archaeology Group excavated the cemetery and made many significant discoveries[3] . The church has a museum called the Undercroft Museum. All Hallows-by-the-Tower is celebrated and remembered throughout the world in the use of its name both in Dublin (All Hallows College) and in Brisbane, Australia (All Hallows' School). The Saxon Abbey of Barking founded the church of All Hallows by the Tower in 675CE. An arch from the original Saxon church remains. Beneath the arch is a Roman pavement, discovered in 1926, evidence of city life on this site for the best part of two thousand years.
Following their execution on Tower Hill, numerous beheaded bodies were brought into the church including those of Thomas More, Bishop John Fisher and Archbishop Laud.
In 1666 the Great Fire of London started in Pudding Lane which despite being only a few hundred metres from the church, did not actually destroy it thanks to Admiral Penn, William Penn's father.
John Quincy Adams, sixth president of the USA, was married in All Hallows in 1797.
In 1940 the church was bombed and only the tower and the walls remained, but the late Queen Mother laid a new foundation stone in 1948 and attended the re-dedication service some nine years later.
All Hallows continues an international ministry with a strong relationship with The Church of the Epiphany, New York, Christ Church, Philadelphia and the Diocese of Cyprus and the Gulf, for whom All Hallows is the London church.

There are a number of films here on the packaging industry. This is because I am the publisher of Central and Eastern European Packaging -- - the international platform for the packaging industry in this region focusing on the latest innovations, trends, design, branding, legislation and environmental issues with in-depth profiles of major industry achievers.
Most people may think packaging pretty boring but it possibly effects your life more than you really imagine!
Central and Eastern European Packaging examines the packaging industry throughout this region, but in particular in the largest regional economies which are Russia, Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Ukraine and Austria. That is not to say that the other countries are forgotten, they are not, but obviously there is less going on. However the fact that there are so many travel related films here is not from holidays but from business trips attending trade fairs around the region. Every packaging trade fair is a new excuse to make another film!

Not very far on Tower Hill is TRINITY HOUSE [established by King Henry VIII in 1514 - as Henry VIII incorporated Trinity House as The Master Wardens and Assistants of the Guild Fraternity or Brotherhood of the most glorious and undivided Trinity and of St. Clement in the Parish of Deptford Strond in the County of Kent (South East England)] that oversees the navigation marks around the British Isles - including all lighthouses [links back to the SEAMARKS ACT of 1566 under Queen Elizabeth I]. It is possible to visit TRINITY HOUSE if a person books with the office beforehand.

Trinity House aids to navigation are monitored 24 hours a day from the Planning Centre in HARWICH, Essex.
Trinity House has a fleet of 3 (three) purpose-built vessels: i) THV Galatea; THV Patricia; THV Alert. All carry out the important work of maintaining and supplying the offshore aids to navigation, routinely steaming skillfully into sea areas that all other ships are warned to steer clear of!
Be aware that up to 95% (ninety five per cent) of the UK's international trade is moved by the maritime industry - which keeps the lifeblood of our economy MOVING SAFELY & SWIFTLY and ensures the UK's place in the GLOBAL ECONOMY!
All Hallows by the Tower (of London) church
It's such a shame that most people who visit the Tower of London do not visit this church. It's the oldest in the City and dates back to 675 A.D. The Silver Jubilee plaque on the ground forms part of a walk.

Thames Festival 2013 - 'Adrift' at All Hallows by the Tower church
'Adrift' artist Hew Locke and All Hallows by the Tower church vicar The Reverend Bertrand Olivier talk about the soon to be installed large-scale artwork and the significance of it's placement within All Hallows - the mariners' church.
The work, a whimsical boat festooned with garlands of flowers and foliage explores the spiritual and metaphysical symbolism of the ship and sea travel: an evocation of the final funerary journey.

The punishment for TREASON - the most grave crime known to the criminal law - consisted of being HANGED, DRAWN [i.e. stretched on the RACK until the leg bones and arm bones came out of their sockets] and then the body was cut in to four quarters and sent to the four quarters of the country.
As for the head - it was beheaded and placed on a pikestaff on LONDON BRIDGE that overlooked the many boats that plied their trade along the tidal stretch of the River Thames.
The punishment for HANGING was not abolished until 1998 under section 36 of the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 passed by the B.liar New Labour [deceiving] government that took us to war in IRAQ and many other Middle Eastern sovereign countries based on an egregious DECEIT? What did the late Dr David Kelly [Operation Mason] tell us? What did Scott Ritter tell us? 'Class Seven Authorisation' (CSA)? The most senior politicians can not always be trusted to communicate the truth to the citizens/subjects of the UK?
