2018 Grand Canyon Star Party:
An audio described version of this video is located on this page:
Grand Canyon In Depth is a video podcast series that explores the natural and human history of Grand Canyon National Park. Produced by the National Park Service in association with Bristlecone Media and Grand Canyon Association, the official nonprofit partner of Grand Canyon National Park.
North Rim Lodge, Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona, United States.
A brief look at the cabin area of the lodge (unfortunately I forgot to video inside my room) and a look inside the lodge itself.
Compared with the South Rims GC Village, the North Rim lodge area is more like the quiet sister to the loud, look-at-me, look-at-me older sister. What is lacks in facilities (no tv, no wi-fi apart from in a cafe a few mins drive away) it more then makes up for in simply doing what is is supposed to and make your stay comfortable and focused on the canyon, all of 100m from just about any cabin.
Grand Canyon | Helicopter Tour | Williams AZ | RV Living!
After visiting the Sedona area, we wanted to move closer to the Grand Canyon! Neither of us had been to the Grand Canyon before and it was one of the first things we put on our must-see list once we knew we were going to do this RV thing!
⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️ Click Show More ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️
For this leg of our journey, we decided to stay at Railside RV Ranch ( which, you guessed it, is right beside the railway line that runs from Williams to the Grand Canyon. Luckily, that railway is strictly a passenger line and doesn't run late at night like the one in Williamsburg!
Williams is a very cool little town right along historic Route 66. There are plenty of shops, restaurants, and breweries and, of course, we frequented a bit of each.
The highlight of this location was obviously the grand canyon! We checked it out by truck, motorcycle, and HELICOPTER!
Since the day we started planning our adventures out west, we knew we wanted to take some kind of air tour of the Grand Canyon. Since our visit to the area happened to coincide with Tara's birthday, that seemed like the perfect time! I took a seaplane ride to the Dry Tortugas on my birthday, so fair is fair! ????
We picked Maverick Helicopter because that's just a really cool name (and they had great reviews)! ????
They are big helicopters, holding about 8 people each with great views in both the front and back seat. Luckily, we got a front seat! The tour takes off from Grand Canyon National Park Airport just inside the park on route 64. The first few minutes are fairly uneventful while flying over the forest. Forest...forest...forest... BAM!! The bottom of the world just drops out leaving us thousands of feet over the canyon! That was AMAZING! The entire flight, we were completely overwhelmed with spectacular views in every direction! There's just not much I can do to explain it in words. Good thing this is a video post! ????
We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Williams and the Grand Canyon.
Next up in our travels, we have our first long term true boondocking stay on Lone Rock Beach in Utah! Stay tuned! ????

SEDONA AZ TO THE SOUTH RIM! VIA GRAND CANYON RAILWAY-WILLIAMS, AZ-EP44
While in Sedona AZ we road the Grand Canyon Railway train to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon.
The 1.5 hr drive to Williams AZ had to happen in the early am, because our train boarded at 9am sharp!
We took the bus excursion at the canyon that included lunch. If we could do it over again, with the limited time at the canyon, I would take the bus excursion WITHOUT lunch included.
We were on the Mary Coulter Luxury Parlor Train at $226/each.We would pick this same car again.

A Trip to the GRAND CANYON & UTAH ARCHES_0001.wmv
A road trip in the desert with my family. First stop was the Grand Canyon, AZ,It was amazing!!! The next day, we trekked up to the Horseshoe Bend and it really started to feel like the desert. Next, we headed to the famous Antelope Canyons and met some really cool locals. Our tour guide, Brandon, took us on a very bouncy ride on his Suburban and he also tried to get all up in our shots. Next stop was the controversial 4 corners -- where 4 states (supposedly) meet - AZ, CO, NM, UT. Headed to Utah next and drove for hours...it was a scary drive -- no lights, windy & narrow roads, with huge Semis next to us, our fuel gauge running low and with no gas stations in sight. But, the night was clear and you can see all the stars. Our last stop -- Arches Nat'l Park in Moab, UT. The 3 mile hike almost killed us!!! I know 3 miles is nuthin' but add the 100+ degree weather on a midday afternoon + the water shortage + the steep hills + Annabeth's wobbly legs and wobbly smile + the crazy people tellin us it's only another 10 min...it's just around corner...we're almost there + Adrian's hallucinations w/ the Pepsi vending machine. Overall-- an unforgettable trip!

This time I went on the road with my family to discover the west of the USA. Within two weeks I tried to put as many national parks on the route as possible :D. Whenever possible I would get some shots with my A7s or DJI Phantom 3 Pro, however, when traveling with friends I usually get a lot more time to film. After all, it was an amazing road trip, we had perfect weather all the way and saw so many amazing places. One drawback was that I wasn't allowed to film with my drone in most of the national parks, so I would get outside of the park borders to get some shots..
Here is a list of the locations:
San Francisco, California
Golden Gate Bridge
Mui Woods
Monterey / Highway #1, California
17 Mile Drive
McWay Falls
Yosemite National Park, California
Glacier Point
Vernal Falls
Death Valley, California
Las Vegas, Nevada
Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona
Mathers Point
Lake Powell, Arizona/Utah
Horseshoe Bend
Antelope Canyon (Upper)
Balanced Rocks
Zion National Park, Utah
The Narrows (Riverbed hike)
Angels Landing (Hike on the mountain ridge)
Bryce Canyon National Park, Utah
Drone shot outside of the park boundaries
Arches National Park, Utah
Stone arches
Aspen, Colorado
Maroon Bells (Drone Flip shot)

Ive heard many things about experiencing the Grand Canyon and the surrounding areas and how it will change you. Although there are stressful factors in my life, i feel, how can i say? pure. I feel great. The air is so different than the east coast. Certainly nothing like a populated city.
First stop was Phoenix. After flying in from Jacksonville and Houston, my friend and I immediately in great need of food. So the first stop was an In n Out Burger joint in Tempe, Az. Ive had this before back in 05' but I cant recall the deliciousness of the food. After i dropped of my car in Jax, i forgot my warm gear considering the desert gets down to 30 degrees while phoenix stays warm. My friend and i checked out a few shops. We didnt stay too long since we had a short time limit for our whole trip. From there we quickly drove right into Downtown and right out onto I17 north toward Flagstaff stopping at Montezuma Castle and Sedona for the red rocks scenery.
Next Day we took a long drive through Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado and driving through the Monument Valley in Utah .
And for day three we took a day trip to the south rim of the breathtaking Grand Canyon. Stop at all points east of the main entrance. Yes i sat on the edge several times as much as i told myself i wouldnt. It was necessary. :) Taking the drive toward Cameron and back south to Flagstaff we came across a smaller Canyon area along the way where I was able to yell and hear my echo 5 times over. It was the most amazing experience ever just like in the movies.
Every person should visit the Grand Canyon at least once in there life time, including other desert activities. Overall my Arizona trip was beyond a success and I am glad I had someone with me to enjoy the memorable experience.
