The Altoona Railroaders Museum tells the story of the people whose lives helped designed, shaped and operated The Pennsylvania Railroad. Most recently, the museum has opened up their Bennett Roundhouse which houses the parts of the state's official locomotive, PRR 1361.

This shows how rubber gloves were tested. The gloves were for the Pennsylvania Railroad crews who worked on high tension wires. Even the smallest flaw could be fatal. I'm not sure what the second clip is, but it looks neat. The thumbnail is of the museum's exterior.

ABOUT THIS FEED:
Horseshoe Curve is the three-track (formerly four-track) railroad curve on the Norfolk Southern Railway's (NS) Pittsburgh Line, the former Pennsylvania Railroad (PRR) mainline, between Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. Approximately 50 freight trains travel the Curve each day.
The 360 camera can pan the entire curve, when an operator is available. During the daytime hours when an operator is not present the camera is placed on an automatic script (program), which does auto pans from one predetermined position to another, but it is not capable of panning with the movement/direction of a passing train.
Amtrak's Pennsylvanian passenger train (between New York City and Pittsburgh via Philadelphia) passes this camera twice daily, once per direction.
There is an ATCS layout available, with server (data) coverage to the east of the Curve down in Altoona itself.
There are 3 radio streams available, see links above. You will also hear conversations (between the dispatcher and crews) from said radio feed being broadcast over the speaker at the Curve.
The engine on display is former PRR GP9 #7048, built by EMD in December 1955 in Order #5408, to Penn Central (PC) #7048, to Conrail (CR) #7048, then donated for display.
When’s the next train? Yeah, we get this a lot. There’s no schedule for freight trains, but some of our more knowledgeable members will provide real-time information when it’s available. Please refrain from asking.

PRR K4s #1361 Hauling The Excursion
Pennsylvania Railroad 1361 is a 4-6-2 Pacific type steam locomotive built in 1918 for the Pennsylvania Railroad by their own Altoona Works. It is one of the only two remaining K4s locomotives and, along with PRR 3750, was designated the official state steam locomotive in 1987 by the Pennsylvania General Assembly.
As a member of the K4 locomotive class, it served its active career hauling mainline passenger and mail trains. Retired from revenue service in 1956, it was restored to operating condition in 1987 when mechanical problems sidelined the locomotive after only a year and a half of operation. The engine is currently owned by the Railroaders Memorial Museum in Altoona, Pennsylvania, which is attempting another restoration for the locomotive.

Here is the PRR Railroaders Excursion Train. This happened in June 2009. It is circling around Horseshoe Curve in Altoona PA. The last car on the train is PRR Business Car # 120. aka: Pennsylvania. It was used to move Robert Kennedy - for his funeral - in 1968.
Pennsylvania Railroad 1361: The Restoration Update.
Today I was I Altoona Today to Do some Railfanning in Altoona Area! We stopped at the Altoona Railroaders Memorial Museum, in Downtown, Altoona! As we explored the yard, we entered in the Roundhouse, and then saw The famous Pennsylvania Railroad 1361! 1361 is a Famous Steam Locomotive used on the Pennsylvania Railroad, and was used as some Excursions in Pennsylvania. Now she is expected to be Restored to Operating Conditions, in the sometime future! She was taken apart some time back, and is now at the railroaders Museum being restored. The wheels and cab appears to be at other railroads working on it! She is a Beautiful Engine!
PRR 1361- is a 4-6-2 K-4 Locomotive, built by the Altoona Juniata Shops, in 1918. She was used on the Pennsylvania Railroad Hauling Mainline Passenger Trains, and mail service. After years of Service she was retired in 1956, at the Time when the Steam Era Ended. As the years went By she was put on Display at the Famous Horseshoe Curve in 1957, until 1987, when she was Restored to Operating conditions, until Her wheel bearings failed and stopped Excursions a year later. After that she was taken to Steamtown where she was dismantled as Partnerships, with RMM. Now she has been taken apart, and Is now, able to be Restored in the future! With Work to be Done. In 2018, she celebrated her 100th Birthday from 1918 to 2018. In the video you will see 1361 Headlights, Boiler, Tender and other parts of 1361.

The Current State of PRR 1361
Resting in historic Altoona, PA is one of its own creations: Pennsylvania Railroad K4 no. 1361. Being built in 1918 by Altoona’s own Juniata Shops, the locomotive had only seen one year operating in excursion service in the 1980s before mechanical problems sidelined her. The locomotive has since been fully dismantled, and work seems to be picking up again. So let’s take a look behind the scenes at the revival of Juniata’s Jewel.

PRR GP9 leads freight at Railroader's Memorial Museum
09/02/17 At the Railroader's Memorial Museum in Altoona. Running a Pennsylvania Railroad model freight with EMD GP9 and Alco FA-1 on a looped display track. The passenger train with the E8's wasn't working. Had way too much fun running and filming the train lol. It consisted of a gondola full of coal, boxcar, gondola, gondola, hopper, and a little red caboose. Enjoy

We are introduced to Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson, co-founders and lead investigators for The Atlantic Paranormal Society (TAPS). Their Technical Manager, Brian, tells them of an interesting case. The home they are to investigate is in Altoona, PA which is several hours away, but because of the dramatic nature of the case they decide to make the long drive.
They investigate reports of poltergeist activity in a home with a very young girl who seems to see the spirits. After uncovering some dramatic Electronic Voice Phenomena (EVP) they return to the site and inform Brenda, the girl's mother, of their findings.
