The Alyeska ski resort has a wonderful tram ride in the Fall months, with breathtaking views of the Alaska mountain range. This is also a good town if you want to see the Northern lights at night.

Riding the Aerial Tram at Alyeska Resort, Alaska
Alyeska Resort is the largest ski area in Alaska, 27 miles from Anchorage in the Chugach mountain range. An aerial tram takes visitors up Mount Alyeska during the summer season for stunning views of the Turnagain Arm of Cook Inlet. Hotel Alyeska is located at the base of the mountain and, when I visited on June 3, 2017, it was during the Fiddlehead Festival, a musical celebration of the Fiddlehead Fern Season. Dealer tables and a festival stage were set up under tents in the Pond Courtyard.

Alaska Vacation: Snowboarding & Skiing at Alyeska Resort in Girdwood Alaska
This video is our journey skiing & snowboarding on Mt. Alyeska, in Girdwood, Alaska. Avery took a lesson from the Ski School there and I went up and did some skiing myself. After, we took a stroll around the block from our Air BNB and played in the snow.

Mt Alyeska Aerial Tram & Hike
Mt Alyeska is 2,300 feet in elevation and features the easy way, the aerial tram, and the hard way (aka, rewarding) of walking up. Regardless of your choice, you will be rewarded with panoramic views of the Turnagain Arm, the Chugach Mountain Range and seven hanging glaciers. You'll also experience a unique hand-powered tram to ford a creek.

South of Anchorage, AK we stayed at the Alyeska Resort in Girdwood, AK. Great little resort town with amazing restaurants. We had been here in the Winter as well. We were with a talkative group and an informative Tram operator so there was no reason to say much. At about 1/2 way you can see the other tram coming up, and shortly after you can see the resort.
The scenes are amazing. The water you can see in the distance is the turnagain arm

This is one of the most beautiful drives in America. From Anchorage, we take the Seward Highway southbound, out of town, across Potter Marsh and onto the coast of Turnagain Arm, for a stunning view of the Kenai Peninsula's snow-capped mountains. The video ends with a brief tour of the Alyeska Resort area, at the upper end of Turnagain Arm.
