Denver, the capital of Colorado, is an American metropolis dating to the Old West era. Larimer Square, the city’s oldest block, features landmark 19th-century buildings. Denver is also a jumping-off point for ski resorts in the nearby Rocky Mountains.
Denver is a vibrant city with plenty of attractions for visitors, plus a diverse collection of neighborhoods that can be attractions in themselves. Many of Denver's older areas are the perfect density for exploration; you'll find an interesting mix of apartments and homes with flowery front gardens, wide flagstone sidewalks, bright green lawns and big, shady trees. U.S. Presidentes Exhibit at Eloise May Library in Denver, CO
U.S. Presidents is an itinerant art exhibit going around public libraries and public schools in Colorado. The idea is that art be accessible to everyone, especially our kids. By looking at my art, I want people, especially kids to go “WOW!, that is cool, I’d like to be able to do something like that one day” and by knowing my statement of being a self-taught artist, kids and adults alike get motivated to create on the idea that art is something that can be accomplished by anyone so long as that anyone believes he or she can do it. The creation process requires an incentive, a motivation that can sometimes be found in eye appeal, and the beauty contained within a piece of art.
Why U.S. Presidents? Because the history of a country is important to its citizens to understand society better. By learning our past, we can understand our present better and have a better feel of the future. The presidents I have chosen hold, in my own point of view, an important episode of the history of this country which I have learned to love as an immigrant.
U. S. Presidents has been at Belmar Public Library, Deane Elementary School, East High School and is currently at Lincoln High School for the month of November. Next month the show will be travelling to Eloise May Library and remaining there for the whole month of December. In January, the exhibit will be going to West High School in Denver.
The exhibit will be available for any school or library, who wishes to host it for one month as of January, 2015. The requirements are simple: 1. a wall space, glass cage or any type of space ample enough to fit six canvas paintings that measure 30”X24” each (as shown in photo) and 2. The space has to be within eyesight of teachers or librarians for safety reasons. CA, NV, UTAH, CO USA: Road Trip part 2: Cities & Streets: episode #16
Continue in part two of this three-part road trip into Utah and Western Colorado.
While still in Utah we take US Highway 70 East towards Colorado. Travel along the Colorado River to Fruita in western Mesa County, Colorado, United States.
Enter Colorado National Monument on the west (Fruita) side and see Fruita Canyon, Lizard Canyon, Balance Rock and drive up to the visitor center. Continue on the Rim Rock Drive and see Independence Monument View, the Grand View, Coke Ovens Overlook, Artists Point and Highland View, Fallen Rock Overlook, Ute Canyon View, Cold Shivers Point. The East entrance is at Grand Junction on Monument Road.
Attend the Western Slope Vietnam War Memorial Park or drive by Hwy 340 and Jurassic Ct. in Fuita, Colorado and take in the Dinosaur Journey Museum of Western Colorado waiting for you to venture inside.

Original Footage from the Denver Mint, 1934
I found this video in the MIRC archives. It provides an interesting glimpse into the final phases of the minting process from the Denver Mint in the 1930s.
This video features uncut footage of U.S. Mint Director Nellie T. Ross visiting the Denver Mint during the Great Depression. Mrs. Ross served as U.S. Mint Director from May, 1933 to April 1953.
The footage shows the area of the Denver Mint where newly minted 1934 Buffalo Nickels and Lincoln Cents were inspected, counted, placed in Mint bags, weighed, and prepared for shipment. The nickels were placed in $50 Mint bags; the cents were placed in $20 Mint bags.
Note the overall lack of safety equipment on the machinery, as well as the U.S. Mint Policeman armed with a shotgun.
This footage in this video was recorded on September 10, 1934 by Fox Movietown News, and was retrieved from the MIRC (mirc.sc.edu). I attenuated segments of the audio track, and removed what noise I could. I also added a title and credits to the video, and adjusted the white balance throughout the video to provide more consistent whites and grays.
