Anastasia State Park - St Augustine FL
We went to St Augustine to celebrate Rhonda's sister Janice's birthday and to get some Atlantic ocean beach time in. We spent our first night at a harvest host - documented in our previous video
Anastasia state park was very accommodating and let us in early.
St. Augustine a city on the Atlantic coast of northeastern Florida. Founded in 1565 by Spanish explorers, is the oldest continuously inhabited European-established settlement in the continental United States.
It was the capital of the Spanish colony of Florida until 1819 (except for a 20 year period under England). When the us took it from Spain. If the streets of the old city could talk - the history they could tell.... pirates, Indian slaves, Spanish gold ... but no fountain of youth.

Places to see in ( St. Augustine - USA )
St. Augustine is a city on the northeast coast of Florida. It lays claim to being the oldest city in the U.S., and is known for its Spanish colonial architecture as well as Atlantic Ocean beaches like sandy St. Augustine Beach and tranquil Crescent Beach. Anastasia State Park is a protected wildlife sanctuary. The Castillo de San Marcos is a 17th-century Spanish stone fortress with views of the St. Augustine Inlet.
St Augustine is a small jewel of a city on the east coast, full of romantic ambiance and old world charm. It is best known for its remarkable historic streets, Spanish style architecture, and panoramic bay. Do take time to wander down St. George street, a promenade of sorts, and enjoy the art galleries, quaint shops, and restaurants.
St. Augustine is best known as the oldest European settlement in the United States. Spanish explorer, Juan Ponce de Leon, claimed the land now known as Florida in the name of Spain on March 27, 1513. Originally the land was named La Florida, which means Land of Flowers. The city was founded by Spanish explorer Pedro Menendez de Aviles in 1565. What makes St Augustine so genuinely endearing is the accessibility of its rich history via countless top-notch museums and the authenticity of its centuries-old architecture, monuments and narrow cobbled lanes. Unlike Florida's numerous historical theme parks, St Augustine is the real deal.

St. Augustine, Florida ????
On April 11th, I took my best friend and her husband to St. Augustine Florida while they were here visiting me from Chicago. It was a brief visit because it was hot and I wasn't feeling all that well that day. But here are a few pictures from our trip to historic St. Augustine Florida and some information about the city.
I loved the visit from my best friend but she flew back to Chicago today. I'm going to miss her!!
St. Augustine (Spanish: San Agustín) is a city in the Southeastern United States, on the Atlantic coast of northeastern Florida. Founded in 1565 by Spanish explorers, it is the oldest continuously inhabited European-established settlement within the borders of the continental United States.
St. Augustine was founded on September 8, 1565, by Spanish admiral Pedro Menéndez de Avilés, Florida's first governor. He named the settlement San Agustín, as his ships bearing settlers, troops, and supplies from Spain had first sighted land in Florida eleven days earlier on August 28, the feast day of St. Augustine. The city served as the capital of Spanish Florida for over 200 years. It was designated as the capital of British East Florida when the colony was established in 1763 until it was ceded to Spain in 1783. Spain ceded Florida to the United States in 1819.
The Castillo de San Marcos is the oldest and largest masonry fort in the continental United States; it is located on the western shore of Matanzas Bay in the city of St. Augustine, Florida.
The Castillo is a masonry star fort made of a stone called coquina (Spanish for small shells), which consists of ancient shells that have bonded together to form a sedimentary rock similar to limestone. Native Americans from Spain's nearby missions did most of the labor, with additional skilled workers brought in from Havana, Cuba. The coquina was quarried from the 'King's Quarry' on Anastasia Island in what is today Anastasia State Park across Matanzas Bay from the Castillo, and ferried across to the construction site. Construction began on October 2, 1672, and lasted twenty-three years, with completion in 1695.
