.Anniston AL Place in Civil Rights History (Part 2 of 3 Parts)
y 14, 1961-Mother's Day-the eyes of the world focused squarely on Anniston. As the bus carrying Freedom Riders entered the Anniston station an angry, violentmob attacked and later burned the bus. That night all major television networks carried images of the burning bus, and those images made their way around the world. That act thrust Anniston into the glare of an international spotlight and, in doing so left a permanent reminder.
So many are no longer here to share their stories, and while their voices may be silenced they are very much alive in the memories of others for what they accomplished This is their story ...

Mine Eyes Have Seen....Anniston AL Civil Rights Documentary (Part 1 of 3 Parts)
This 2012 Documentary captures the intense passion and pain the City of Anniston citizens witnessed and felt during the turbulent times of the early Civil Rights Movement. The incident that catapulted Anniston AL into the national and international spotlight is remembered by the men and women who witnessed first hand the Freedom Riders Bus Burning Incident. Personal stories and reflections about what it was like to live through that turbulent time. The other side of the story that represents the black and white leaders who rose to the occasion and to try and create biracial unity. An effort that would be recognized by President John F. Kennedy in 1963. This 3 part documentary takes you on the journey and allows you to view what life was like during early 60's through the integration of schools in the early 70's. The documentary was developed to capture a part of history that is quickly disappearing as the lives of these men and woman come to an end. The lessons learned as a result of the Civil Rights Movement are valuable and must be remembered in such a way that no one will ever have to witness this type of inhumane behavior and suffering again. said current Anniston Mayor Vaughn Stewart. This 3 part documentary was funded and produced by the Anniston Museum of Natural History and Vista Productions

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! If you are planning to listen a lot, you could try using a bone conduction headphone, or a standard speaker instead of an earphone.

SUMMARY
=======
Anniston is the county seat of Calhoun County in Alabama and is one of two urban centers/principal cities of and included in the Anniston-Oxford Metropolitan Statistical Area. As of the 2010 census, the population of the city was 23,106. According to 2013 Census estimates, the city had a population of 22,666.Named The Model City by Atlanta newspaperman Henry W. Grady for its careful planning in the late 19th century, the city is situated on the slope of Blue Mountain.
Along with Selma, Alabama, it ranks as one of the top cities by most violent crimes in the United States, according to FBI data.
Alabama's First Capitals
As a separate territory and state since 1817, Alabama has had five capitals. Saint Stephens, in southwest Alabama, was designated in the Congressional act creating the territory as the temporary seat of government.
The territorial legislature, however, had chosen Cahaba (also spelled Cahawba), at the confluence of the Cahaba and Alabama Rivers, as the site for the capital of the state, so the second session of the legislature met there in 1820.
Tuscaloosa was a thriving community located on the shoals of the Black Warrior River and had been a strong candidate for the capital site when Cahaba had been chosen for the honor in 1819.
Andrew Dexter, one of the founders of the town, had held on to a prime piece of property in long anticipation of the capital's eventual move to Montgomery.
