Don't Skip Out On Railay! - Ao Nang, Thailand Travel Vlog 2019
Ao Nang was the COOLEST small town in Thailand so far! We walk the beautiful beaches and enjoy the scenery of some stunning cliffs amazing race style as I refer to them. We also take a long tail boat ride over to the famous Railay beach and spend the day walking the Island.
*** New videos on Saturday, and now WEDNESDAY as well so be ready!
After leaving Koh Tao and taking a ferry back to mainland, it was on to a bus to Krabi. Krabi is a bigger city above Ao Nang and even has airport access if you choose to fly in. We then took a bus from Krabi to Ao Nang and settled in to our AirBnB condo which was probably our nicest one yet. (Besides the fact the darn neighbours must have had a family of roosters but you get used to that... A little ha.)
Ao Nang has stunning landscapes with rocks shooting straight up out of the ocean and all over on mainland even, it really is quite a sight to see. The locals here were some of the nicest we had met and we instantly felt settled in to our new home. A short walk from our condo got us to the main beach area where there is all sorts of local food vendors and merchants as you would expect. We did find one corner little food market on the way though that had some of the best food we've had in Thailand, right on the corner near our house. The spring rolls may have been the best in my life. There was also a smoothie shack that sold good sized smoothies for 30 baht which was a steal at just over a dollar Canadian. The beach itself in Ao Nang wasn't a popular one for swimming but still had a few spots, however we mainly just walked it and went to the tidal pools and watched the crabs.
They may not have the best swimming beach IN Ao Nang, HOWEVER, for 200 Baht ($8) round trip you can take a fun long tail boat ride to the famous Railay beach. This area was stunning. The boat ride in you go close and past some of the standing rocks out of the water, and then after maybe 5 minutes you're there. This little tourist paradise has a great selection of little restaurants and places to grab a drink off the beach, huge stretches of sand, monkeys, hiking to view points and probably even more. There are even resorts we saw located over on Railay which must be by boat access that looked beautiful.
Once on Railay, we walked the main beach that was pretty populated in tourists and all the boats coming and going to drop people off. We knew there was Railay East as well opposed to the west side we were on so we took off to check that out as well. On the way through the beautiful village we saw 10+ monkeys all playing and jumping off the roofs and that was a pleasant surprise for us as the animal lovers we are. Was not expecting to suddenly see monkeys, bonus. After exploring the village we got to Railay East which was really just a shallow muckier looking beach with a long dock out to a few boats coming and going. I believe it was used more so for the Resorts on the Island to get their guests too and from Railay.
Still trying to find the best spot to swim we pushed on as we also knew on the tip of the area there was one more beach besides East and West beach, Phra Nang beach. The walk there took you under the cliffs and past a very popular rock climbing spot on the Island. We even saw a different species of smaller, short black haired monkeys so we had to watch them too of course. Arriving at Phra Nang, it was amazing. Less busy than Railay West, nice sand and super clear, warm water. We spent a good chunk of time just floating and enjoying how beautiful it was surround by all of the cliffs right beside you and one out of the ocean. I would recommend swimming here to escape the busyness of Railway West and also less boats pull in to this beach. (however some still do from tour groups, we do too in a coming soon video for the 4 island tour we took!)
We swam right up until it was time to head back, and we ended up leaving ourselves only roughly 15 minutes to navigate our way back and catch the boat back to Ao Nang. Luckily we found the way back and made it right near the end, as the last boats leave at 6:00p.m that is included as part of your round trip ticket you buy before coming over.
Hope you guys enjoyed checking out Railay and getting introduced to Ao Nang as much as we enjoyed it there! Be sure to catch our next video WEDNESDAY now as well where we take a kayak tour around the mangrove forests in the area and see some more beautiful areas and sights in the lovely Ao Nang.
Thanks for tuning in and we'll catch you all Wednesday next, woohoo for 2 videos a week now right? haha.
Cheers friends,
Luke & Alysha

Rock Climbing in Railay / Phra Nang, Krabi - Thailand

If you've never climbed before, Railay is one of the best and cheapest places to do so. Numerous climbing schools will take absolute beginners for a day of safe climbing. The half-day courses (around US $30) are a great way to try your hands at an exciting sport -- and are enough to exhaust most beginners. Well-trained instructors provide safe equipment; climbs start easy then gradually increase in difficulty.
Experienced climbers can take advantage of over 700 bolted routes along limestone and sea cliffs ranging from easy to multi-pitched nightmares. You'll even find technical bouldering in soft sand along the beach, or the truly adventurous can try deep-water soloing -- climbing without ropes -- finished by a drop into the sea!
Shoes, ropes, and equipment can be rented from climbing schools. If you're accustomed to the grading system used in the US (e.g., 5.8) you will want to purchase a climbing guide or talk to a school: Railay uses the French grading system (e.g. 6a).

Our 2 day trip to Krabi through a Vlog style video.
This is our first attempt at Vlogging so please share your feedback :)
We took a bus from Phuket to Krabi for a 2 day getaway from work and found more than we expected. What a beautiful place!
The bus ride took around 4 hours, so a better option would be to take the ferry, that takes around 1,5 hours.
We stayed at ,,Beyond resort Krabi'' It was a really nice hotel with a beautiful garden, a nice big pool and a private beach.
The first day we rented a scooter and we went on a road trip to ,,Emerald pool'' (Sra Morakot, Crystal Pool) It's an underground natural springs that is just perfect to swim in! The water is replenished by natural streams running into the pool from freshwater sources on the limestone hill above.
We filmed half a day at Emerald pools, but the memory card failed and we lost all that footage! Such a bummer!
The second day we went for a hike up ,, Khao Hang Nak'' (also known as Dragon Crest mountain and Hang Ngon Nak) or Khao Non Nak Nature Trail. The hike is 3,7 km one way and it took around 2 hours to get to the top. The hike is kind of challenging but totally worth it! The view on top is just AMAZING. This was definitely the highlight of our trip to Krabi.
We hope you enjoyed the video :)

What is up everyone! My name is Dave, I am a fitness coach, health coach, men’s lifestyle coach and model, marathon / long distance runner, weight lifter and all around nice funny guy lol from London, currently living in Canggu / Amed Bali Indonesia and Krabi / Ao Nang Thailand.
I have been traveling for a couple of years and documenting along the way … I have been training in the gym / strength training , running and skateboarding for many years plus been a fully qualified personal trainer / fitness coach for nearly 3.
In this video I show you our trip to Wat Tham Sua ... an amazing temple that has been around for nearly 5 decades. Apparently, a tiger used to go and sleep in the cave, and the local people could hear it speak / roar / call out . Eventually a few people went to pray and worship and now there is an amazing community and giant temples in the area.
You have to climb nearly 1300 steps up the mountain in order to see the top of the temple and giant buddha statue
The inside of the cave is absolutely beautiful with lots of statues and offerings , plus some wonderful architecture .
It is a 25 minute drive from Ao Nang and about 20 minutes from Krabi in south west Thailand . (I strongly recommend you visit, we personally prefer it to the neighboring cities such as Phuket . )
We also have some local thai food , Pad Thai with tofu and the iced coffees / smoothies / juices / coconuts here are phenomenal .

Thailand,Phra Nang Beach Rock Climbing / Princess Cave Krabi
Thailand,Phra Nang Beach Rock Climbing Princess Cave Krabi
Phra Nang Beach is surrounded by stunning limestone cliffs and is located on the southern most tip of the Railay Peninsula, just south of West Railay.
Out of the four beaches within this peninsula this beach would have to rate as the best with calm clean waters.
The limestone cliffs that tower above the beachfront, provide shade from the hot sun.
I think you enjoy with my video.
Thanks for tuning in. I hope this video is helpful.

I did a half day course (it's enough for a beginner as me). This video I just finished climbing on A+ Route or the called Far Away I was so proud as I'm beginner. :D
