One of our favorite spots to spend the day is Arbor Hills Nature Preserve in Plano, TX. With 200-acre of land, the park has several amenities including: 3 miles of paved hiking trail, 3 miles of unpaved hiking trail, a 2.8 mile off-road bike trail, restrooms, a covered pavilion, and a playground. Plenty of activities for the whole family to enjoy!

Brandon and I went hiking at Arbor Hills Nature Preserve the other day. Hiking is going to be one of the activities that we do together. Ever since our hike in Vegas, we've started doing more things together.
For this trip, we brought Justice along so he could get some exercise and away from the apartment. The scenery was beautiful, the weather was bearable and the bugs were on the prowl as we trekked through wooded areas and clearings. We had to stop for a moment to hop across a ditch and accidentally left one of our phones in the dirt (we got it back though!). Of course, Justice was outraged every time he saw a fellow canine but we managed to keep him at bay. Eventually we found two rivers. The sound of the water was so relaxing!

This short 2.2 mile track is more on the beginner side. There are a couple of small drops and a few short down hills sections. You can lap it a few times for a good workout. All in all it's a pretty fun little trail if you happen to be in the area. There are a few sections that are real stop and go, and a quite a few tight turns. Other areas are have a little more flow to them.

Arbor Hills Natural Preserve Bike Trail
Saturday September 27, 2014 12:30 pm. This is the middle section of the trail, approximately from 1-1.7 miles. This is a great park in the middle of Plano, TX. Not for beginners, but not a challenge for advanced riders. If your not in shape, you will be winded by the end of the ride.

Plano enjoys a reputation as one of the most desirable cities to live and work in. Plano was recently named as one of the “Safest Cities in America” and “Best Run Cities in America” by Law Street Media and 24/7 Wall Street respectively.
The city is a hub for many corporate headquarters. Approximately 80% of Plano's visitors are business travelers, due to its close proximity to Dallas and the many corporations headquartered in Plano. The city also has a convention center that is owned and operated by the city. Plano has made a concerted effort to draw retail to its downtown area and the Legacy West in an effort to boost sales tax returns. There are three malls in the city: The Shops at Willow Bend, Collin Creek Mall, and The Shops at Legacy, an area that has apartments, shops, and restaurants constructed with the New Urbanism philosophy. Some of the country's largest and most recognized companies have their headquarters in Plano. Tree-lined Legacy Drive in the 75024 ZIP Code, between Preston Road and Dallas North Tollway, has many corporate campuses.
Although Plano is named for the flat plains of the area, large trees abound in the city's many parks. One such tree, estimated to be over 200 years old, resides in Bob Woodruff park near Rowlett Creek on the city's east side. There are two main open space preserves: Arbor Hills Nature Preserve (200 acres) and Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve (800 acres). Bob Woodruff Park and Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve are connected by biking trails, making the green space one large uninterrupted park space that is larger than Central Park in New York City (840 acres).
There are five recreation centers: Tom Muehlenbeck Recreation Center, Carpenter Park Recreation Center, Oak Point Recreation Center, Liberty Recreation Center, and Douglass Community Center. Carpenter Park Recreation Center, Oak Point Recreation Center, and Tom Muehlenbeck Recreation Center have an indoor pool, while Liberty Recreation Center, has an outdoor pool.[42] Plano Senior Recreation Center is a recreation center dedicated to seniors. There are three swimming pools owned by Plano Parks & Recreation: Harry Rowlinson Community Natatorium, Jack Carter Pool, and Plano Aquatic Center. All of the pools are indoor except for Jack Carter Pool. Douglass Community Center houses the Boys & Girls Club of Collin County. For pet owners, there is The Dog Park at Jack Carter Park.
Plano is also the home to two campuses of Collin College, one at the Courtyard Center on Preston Park Boulevard and the larger Spring Creek Campus on Spring Creek Parkway at Jupiter.
