216 Green Lake Drive, Green Lakes, Myrtle Beach, SC 29572
A stunning all-brick home on a half acre of land with no HOA just a couple of minutes from the beach!
Located in the oceanfront Arcadian Dunes section of Myrtle Beach's prestigious Chestnut Hill, this home has a front row seat to the fairways of the Arcadian Shores Golf Course. Featuring high-end, strategic upgrades, from the textured coffered ceiling and gas fireplace in the living room to the soft-close cabinetry, built-ins, and tiled wood-grain flooring throughout. Upon entering, the abundance of natural light combined with a serene golf course view sets an exquisite tone for imagining your life here. The foyer and formal dining room to your right greet and welcome you into the common living spaces. The open concept of these areas triggers a surplus of opportunities for rest and the gathering of friends and family to entertain. The gourmet chef's kitchen showcases recessed lighting, high-end appliances and cabinetry, along with dual pantries, ample counter space, a work island with breakfast bar seating, and an eat-in informal dining area. This centrally-located kitchen allows you to overlook the living room, highlighted by the recessed coffered tray ceiling with textured panels and a gas fireplace surrounded by custom built-ins. Access to your rear screened porch is provided through sliding glass doors. A private corridor off of the living room lures you into the master bedroom with ensuite bath. Showcasing a walk-in closet with shelving, custom built-ins, and an ensuite bath with a dual sink vanity, linen closet, extra-large glass-encased tiled shower, and a garden tub. The additional bedrooms are located in what surely feels like it's own private three bedroom wing. This area features private bedrooms with their own storage, a common-use storage/linen closet, a full bath, and the laundry room with shelving and a utility sink. It would be imprudent to overlook the screened-in patio at the rear of the home as it's own resplendent sanctuary. This 25'x30' outdoor space serves as a blank canvas for your own sense of decor. However, this area is designed fruitfully with thoughtful details, including the four ceiling fans, surround sound speakers, outdoor outlets, pavers, and double screen doors leading to the backyard, simplifying the process of moving big furniture items or a hot tub into the screened-in area. Additionally, there is a tankless water heater and a generator for the home.
Your Green Lakes address, located ocean side of Highway 17 Business on the north end of Myrtle Beach, is just south of Barefoot Landing, putting you very close to all the Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach areas have to offer, from shopping, dining, and entertainment to area attractions, golfing (Arcadian Shores Golf Club), and the beach! Access to highways 17, 31, 22, and 9 prove immediate and convenient.

Possum Trot Golf Club - #13 - Hole Spotlight from Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday
MYRTLE BEACH GOLF HOLE OF THE WEEK: NO. 13 AT POSSUM TROT
July 18, 2017 by Chris King
Possum Trot Golf Club is home to one of the game’s most unique names, but an unforgettable moniker isn’t what brings people back to the course 49 years after its opening.
The North Myrtle Beach layout has long prided itself on being the area’s friendliest course and it delivers on that promise on a couple levels. Possum Trot Golf Club is a classically designed layout and prides itself on providing good old-fashioned customer service.
Staffers greet golfers with a smile and they place an emphasis on pace of play, helping ensure what is generally one of the Grand Strand’s quickest rounds. The challenges at Possum Trot are straight-forward and the greens don’t require a book to read, helping make the layout a player-friendly one from the jump.
Our Myrtle Beach golf hole of the week showcases the best of Possum Trot, providing a challenge without overwhelming players.
No. 13 – Possum Trot
Par: 3
Yardage: 203 yards (blue tees), 163 yards (white tees), 115 yards (gold tees), 106 yards (red tees)
Handicap: 9
On a course that doesn’t feature an abundance of water, it’s the defining trait on Possum Trot’s most memorable hole. The 13th is named, appropriately, “Analysis is Paralysis.”
In a game that often rewards the thinking man, that’s not the case on Possum Trot’s signature hole. A lake threatens from tee-to-green and the length of the hole (163 yards from the white tees) adds to the challenge, but there is some room to miss to the right.
Don’t stand on the tee and overthink the shot; if you do, all you will see is the trouble. Grab the club you are most comfortable with from 160 yards and take a smooth swing.
You don’t have to be perfect to find success on the 13th, so don’t think your way into trouble.
If you are interested in playing Possum Trot and its sister courses – Glen Dornoch, Heather Glen and Shaftesbury Glen – check out Boardwalk Beach Resort’s Glens Group Package.

Alligator Alley at The Dunes Golf & Beach Club - Hole Spotlight from Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday
ALLIGATOR ALLEY HELPS MAKE DUNES CLUB ONE OF AMERICA’S BEST COURSES
The Dunes Golf & Beach Club is Myrtle Beach’s most storied course. The Robert Trent Jones Sr. design has hosted numerous professional events, including the Senior Tour Championship and the Women’s U.S. Open, and is ranked among America’s top 100 public courses by Golf Digest and Golf Magazine.
Conditions are always outstanding, and the greens are among the best in the state, always running fast and smooth.
The Dunes Club is a bucket list course, not only for Myrtle Beach golfers but anyone who wants to play the nation’s best courses. A classic design, the Dunes Club features generous fairways, those unforgettable greens complexes, and several of the area’s most memorable holes.
The par 3 ninth offers a view of the Atlantic Ocean, one of the few along the Myrtle Beach golf scene to do so, but it’s not enough to make the cut in our Hole of the Week feature.
What we couldn’t do at the Dunes Club was narrow the selection to just one hole, so we are featuring the most famed stretch of holes along the Grand Strand.
Alligator Alley
Holes 11-13
This unforgettable trio begins with the second most difficult hole on the back nine, the 370-yard (all distances from white tees) 11th hole. The fairway isn’t exceptionally tight but the swash from the nearby Atlantic Ocean comes into play on the approach, particularly on the drives that find the right side of the fairway.
The preferred play is a drive up the left side, leaving an approach that provides some margin for error. Tee shots that end up to the right of center will require a second shot that must fly the marsh and a greenside bunker with no margin for error.
The 12th hole, a par 3 that plays 150 yards, also requires a carry over the swash, so mishit shots will find a watery grave. But the green is large and not as undulating as the ones that precede and follow it, meaning your road to par or even birdie is a little easier.
Last, but certainly not least, is the Grand Strand’s most recognizable hole, the par 5 13th, known simply as Waterloo. The 90-degree dogleg right plays 520 yards around Lake Singleton and upwards of a dozen alligators will line the banks of the lake on any given day, enjoying the day while golfers attempt to avoid them.
The course’s hardest hole, No. 13 is a true three-shot challenge and, unlike most par 5s, the drive is as much about positioning as distance. The closer you are to the lake, the more you can challenge the water on the second shot, but get too close and the very real possibility of losing a ball comes into play.
The preferred drive is to the right center of the fairway, and then you play a second shot that leaves less than 150 yards on the approach. While Lake Singleton draws a lot of attention (and cameras), the 13th green is among the most challenging on the course. The putting surface is undulating and fast, so try and hit your spot below the hole.
Do you have a favorite among the three holes that make up Alligator Alley? If so, let us know!

Meadowlands Golf Club - Hole #3 - Course Spotlight by Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday
MYRTLE BEACH GOLF HOLE OF THE WEEK: NO. 3 AT MEADOWLANDS
Myrtle Beach is full of quality golf courses that don’t attract the spotlight; it’s a byproduct of having 86 layouts in the game’s most popular market.
One such course is Meadowlands Golf Club, located just across the state line in Calabash, N.C. Meadowlands has quietly emerged as a golf package favorite, providing outstanding conditions and, just as importantly, a chance to score.
Golf is a challenging game under any circumstances, but Meadowlands has always placed an emphasis on playability, highlighted by a 2012 renovation project that softened two of the layouts most difficult holes. Our Myrtle Beach Golf Hole of the Week – the par 4 third – was one of the two holes that underwent a facelift.
Now, we are going to give you an inside look at how to play the signature hole at Meadowlands.
No. 3
Par: 4
Yardage: 480 yards (raven tees); 455 yards (heron tees); 408 yards (egret tees); 351 yards (hummingbird tees); 298 yards (red tees).
Handicap: 1
The course’s most memorable hole, No. 3, had a lake that many mid to high handicappers were able to reach off the tee, forcing a layup that often left an approach that was to long for comfort. With that in mind, part of the lake was filled in during the 2012 renovation, allowing players more room to drive the ball, which in turn sets up a more manageable approach.
All the being said, the third hole deservedly remains the No. 1 handicap hole. The hole plays 408 yards from the egret tees – Meadowlands’ version of white tees – which provides plenty of distance.
If your drive stays to the right, you can hit the ball as far off the tee as you would like, but the water begins encroaching much earlier on the left side of the fairway. Optimally, you would hit a 250-yard drive up the right side, leaving a 150+ yard approach that minimizes the length of the carry over water to the green.
The reality is most people can’t hit the ball that far on command. There isn’t a lot of room between the edge of the lake and the front of the green, so the best piece of advice is to play smart. If your drive isn’t great and you have a 180-yard approach that is on the outer limits of what you could reasonably expect to do, use your head.
Don’t be afraid to layup and play the hole as a par 4.5, if that’s what your tee shot dictates. Bogey is much better than what you will likely record if you hit the ball in the drink.
Meadowlands is one of the area’s most playable layouts, but you better bring your ‘A’ game to the third tee box.
Have you played Meadowlands? How have you fared on this hole? Tell us in the comments below!

Ryan McCarty Shaftesbury Golf & Fish Club Myrtle Beach SC
I met Ryan McCarty, the Director of Operations, at Shaftesbury Golf & Fish Club in the pro shop and later interviewed him in front of the Scottish Castle that is a clubhouse downstairs and five Shaftesbury Suites upstairs. He spoke of owner Paul Himmelsbach and how he caddied as a young lad at Winged Foot Golf Club and brought that golf course to South Carolina. The ownership group of brothers Paul and Jack along with Marvin Arnsdorff started with Heather Glen and Glen Dornoch. Later they converted Himmelsbach family farmland into the Shaftesbury Masterpiece of generous and manicured fairways leading to well-bunkered elevated bent grass greens. Ryan grew up playing golf in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and moved to Myrtle Beach to be in the golf business year round. Though second in the title the fishing in the Waccamaw River behind the castle clubhouse is reported to be as good as the golf by golfers and fisherman alike. AG&TD2014046
