Ardmore Round Tower & St Declan's Church
On a hill above the village of Ardmore in Co Waterford is a well-preserved 30-m-high, 12th-century round tower and the ruins of a Cathedral and oratory dating from the 13th and 8th centuries respectively.
One of the outer walls of the Cathedral features some stone carvings retrieved from an earlier 9th-century building. The carvings include a very early image of a harp, images of Adam and Eve in the garden and a representation of Solomon's judgement. The Cathedral also contains two Ogham stones, which rest in small alcoves.
Some elements of the original structure can still be seen within the building.

Ardmore Round Tower and Cathedral
Ardmore Round Tower and Cathedral are on the site of a monastery founded by St. Declan at some stage between 350AD and 450AD before St. Patrick came to Ireland as a missionary bishop. The Round Tower dates from the 12th Century while the Cathedral dates from the 12th and 13th Centuries.

My wife and mother-in-law are huge Nora Roberts fans and we went to Ardmore Ireland in County Waterford because of the books. A very amazing and beautiful place. Includes Round Tower, St Declan's Church, Dunclare Bed and Breakfast, cliff walk, and music by Orion and Moher.
Ardmore Church & Round Tower 2004
About 450 AD while travelling back to his homeland of Wales St Declan stopped off in Ardmore and created the monastery there. The site has the remains of his church and a later building of a 12 century Round Tower which was a Belfry and a place of refuge from marauding Vikings.

This is the burial place of an Irish saint that pre-dates St.Patrick ,showing that Christianity was already in Ireland and just more evidence that the divine trinity and the holy spirit come from the celts - the round tower has no door on the floor and see how the sun shines through the window from the west? It can only be seen from that height! MAGIC!
