Little Armenia in Romania I Bucharest
After many months of not uploading any video, I decided to upload some videos from our trip to Romania. As a big lover of my motherland (Armenia) and having a great support from side of Alex looking for Armenian places wherever we go, we found an Armenian church, museum and even a primary school in the motherland of Alex; Romania! It was a great experience to see how someone from totaly different culture makes me to fall in love with his country and also helps me to look for ''my places'' arround his country!
First vlog is in Bucharest, the capital city of Romania and later we keep going arround the country visiting main cities.

NAASR Armenian Studies | Levon Chookaszian | Armenians of Crimea and Romania Viewed Through Art
The Armenians of The Crimea and Romania As Seen Through Their Art
Dr. Levon Chookaszian
The study of the artistic legacy of the Armenians in medieval Crimea and Romania allows for the reconstruction and imagining, to a certain degree, of a broader picture, a kind of mosaic of the culture of immigrants from Armenia. The Armenian churches, monasteries, and illustrated manuscripts are the main art works testifying to the presence of Armenians in medieval Crimea and Romania and their cultural activity there. Prof. Levon Chookaszian explores this rich, but for many, little known cultural heritage.
Prof. Levon Chookaszian is the UNESCO Professor of Armenian Art History at Yerevan State University and one of the leading authorities in the world on Armenian art. He is the author of two monographs: one on the art of 13th century Armenian miniaturist Grigor (Grigor Tsaghkogh, 1986), and the other on the art of the painter Arshag Fetvadjian (Arshag Fetvadjian, 2011). He has published four hundred articles and reviews for scholarly journals and newspapers on Armenian art. Chookaszian has taught at Yerevan State University since 1978 and is one of the founders of the department of art history. In 1996 he established the UNESCO Chair of Armenian Art History. Since 1992 he has delivered around two hundred lectures at universities, libraries, and museums across the United States, Canada, Great Britain, Italy, Lebanon, Greece, Germany, France, Hungary, and Romania.

Bucharest Tour: Old Churches
It’s a true miracle that a number of Bucharest’s awesome churches have survived wars, earthquakes and communism, preserving magnificent décor elements and fresco paintings. Today, they are Bucharest’s must-see regardless of the season or time of the day. And with many of them located right in the Old Town or along the stunning Victory Avenue (Calea Victoriei) Bucharest’s churches are an easy reach for a visitor.
Dating back to the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries, Bucharest’s churches represent a unique chance to dive deep into Romania’s religious history and architecture, which are rooted in local traditions, Byzantine epoch and Orthodoxy.
Churches, which can be found in the Old Town and along Calea Victoriei:
The Old Court Church (16th century) – the oldest preserved church in its original appearance in Bucharest.
Stavropoleos church (early 18th century) – Founded as part of Stavropoleos Convent for nuns, the church was erected in the early 18th century. Today it’s the only structure of the Convent, which has survived earthquakes, wars and Communist regime. The church boasts a 8000 books library, dedicated to theology, byzantine history, music and arts.
Kretzulescu Church (18th century) – Surrounded by Communist-era buidlings, the church survived multiple earthquakes and witnessed the 1989 revolution. The church is built in a local style and preserved some of its original frescoes.
The Cathedral of Saint Joseph (second half of the 19th century) – This is the most famous Catholic church in Bucharest. St Joseph is the metropolitan cathedral and the seat of the archbishop.
