On Day 21 of our Round The World Trip for food with Star Alliance, we spent the day in Barcelona. Barcelona is an amazing food city, and one of the best places to start eating is at La Boqueria. After eating and wandering, we headed over to Sagrada Família for a breathtaking tour. It was an amazing day of food and attractions in Barcelona.
00:34 Breakfast at Cotton House Hotel - We started off the morning at our hotel by having a quick breakfast. The jamon and selection of cured meats was the highlight.
2:53 Mercat de Sant Josep de la Boqueria - Often known in short just as La Boqueria, this historical market is a food lover's paradise and a pilgrimage destination. We arrived early in the morning and headed first to Bar Pinotxo to eat our second breakfast. I ordered an omelet with eggplant and a plate of garbanzo beans and blood sausage. The dish was simple, but it was incredibly delicious. Additionally, the coffee was extremely good. Total price - 12.80 EUR ($14.04)
6:59 El Quim De La Boqueria - After finishing with the first place of tapas, I wandered over to another legendary tapas bar within La Boqueria market known as El Quim De La Boqueria. It’s a very expensive place, but I knew I wanted to try the fried eggs with baby squid. The dish was a simple combination of ingredients, but it was cooked perfectly, and it was incredibly delicious. I also couldn’t resist a plate of fried chilies. Total price - 32.05 EUR ($35.16) There are dozens of things to eat and try at La Boqueria, and after all the salty food I was ready to have a passion fruit juice. And then finally, to conclude the Barcelona food tour of La Boqueria, I bought a cone of sliced Jamón Ibérico.
14:14 Gothic Quarter, Barcelona Cathedral - After an amazing food tour, we walked around the Christopher Columbus monument and then continued on walking around the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona. The Barcelona Cathedral was originally closed when we arrived, but I came back in a few minutes and walked around the Barcelona Cathedral as well.
16:37 Xarcutería La Pineda - Located just around the corner from the Barcelona Cathedral, I headed over to a place called Xarcutería La Pineda (recommended by Chris English), to try the botifarra blanca and a cup of vermouth. It’s an amazing little family run shop with a fantastic array of meats and drinks. Total price - 11.50 EUR
21:25 Basílica de la Sagrada Família - One of the most famous attractions in Barcelona is the Sagrada Familia, a basilica that was famous designed by Antoni Gaudi. I had read and dreamed about visiting for many years, so I was very excited to finally have the chance to visit. What amazed me is how dark and gothic it looks from the outside, yet how light and happy it is on the inside. Sagrada Familia is truly a stunning architectural feat, and an attraction you must visit in Barcelona. Along with visiting the main part of Sagrada Familia, I also bought tickets to go to the Nativity Tower. Going to the top of the tower and walking down was the highlight of visiting. Price - 29.00 EUR per person w/ tower entrance
26:16 Catalan Food for dinner at Restaurant Portolés - For dinner Ying and I walked over to Restaurant Portolés, a local Catalan food restaurant. Some of the main dishes I ordered included Fideuà and Rollitos De Pollo, all of which were delicious. It’s a great restaurant to try in Barcelona. Total price - 26.50 EUR
This was a fantastic day in Barcelona, packed with delicious food and attractions in Barcelona.

10 Street Foods to Savor in Thailand
Get more Tips here!
Thailand offers some of the best-loved cuisine in Southeast Asia. Many options cost less than a single US dollar, so you’ll certainly get your money’s worth as well. Here are some of the favorite street foods to savor in Thailand.
1. Phat Kaphrao (fat-ka-fraow)
You’ll find this dish in any typical local restaurant. The key flavor-enhancing ingredients are sweet basil and chilis, but the bulk of the meal is a simple stir-fry of pork, chicken or shrimp. It is usually seasoned with fish sauce and lime, and sometimes topped with a fried egg.
2. Pad Thai
The most ubiquitous of all Thai street foods. It is essentially a stir-fry consisting of rice noodles, eggs, tofu, fish sauce, various herbs, shrimp or chicken and vegetables. There are vegetarian options, too. Often costing under a dollar in the street.
3. Green Papaya Salad
Vegetarian options exist, although the salad usually comes with brined crab and dried shrimp. Typical recipes combine five key tastes: sour lime, hot chili, savory fish sauce, salt and touch of sweetness from palm sugar. Fresh and delicious.
4. Gluay Ping
Or as we know it, grilled bananas, are a popular option. Those with a sweet tooth will love the coconut and caramel sauce that it invariably comes with. Greener bananas tend to be the best, since the skin develops a more caramelized texture on the grill.
5. Deep-Fried Grasshoppers
Any adventurous traveler should be brave enough to try the deep-fried grasshoppers. This is also quite a healthy and protein-rich snack. Aside from grasshoppers, other bold diners can try fried worms, water bugs and various other edible insects.
6. Spring Rolls
They typically feature a filling of pork or prawns, bean sprouts, noodles, spring onions and a variety of herbs and spices. Dipped in a tangy chili sauce, they offer a satisfying crunch. They tend to be among the cheapest food cart options around.
7. Green Curry
Lovers of hot and spicy dishes may prefer the zippier red curry, a green curry typically presents a lighter, mellower taste. Thai curries usually contain shrimp or chicken as their main protein.
8. Tom Yam Soup
An extremely cheap option. It's a delicious soup that combines both spicy and sour flavors thanks to the variety of fresh ingredients it uses. Lime, lemongrass, fish sauce and chili peppers are some key flavors. Some versions include mushrooms or chili jam.
9. Banana Pancakes
One of the most popular breakfasts or desserts in Thailand. Some stalls sell banana pancakes drizzled in condensed milk and placed on wooden skewers. Some even come topped with melted chocolate for an extra flourish.
10. Ho Mak Pla
Ho mak refers to a method for preparing certain types of Thai curry, where the dish is steamed in an arrangement of banana leaves to provide a distinct taste and aroma. It is a type of fish curry blended with curry paste and coconut milk.

TOP 5 BEST THAI DISHES! | My Favorite Thai Food in Bangkok, Thailand!
Huge thank you to Greg from Travizeo for filming and making this video!

A totally different style video today, hope you enjoy it!
One of the most common questions I get asked is Mark, “what are your favorite Thai foods?” And so when Greg was in Bangkok I thought it would be an awesome idea to cover when he was filming with his amazing video skills.
By the way, Greg films cinematic travel videos for brands and promotions, and he also happens to love to eat! Go check out his videos ( and website for more details ( And I was very excited when he offered to film and edit a video for me.
Choosing my favorite Thai dishes is a very hard thing to do, but I narrowed it down.
1. Braised beef fire pot (เกาเหลาเนื้อหม้อไฟ) at Heng Chun Seng (ร้าน เฮ้งชุนเส็ง) - There’s just about nothing better to eat for breakfast in Bangkok, and after trying quite a few versions, Heng Chun Seng is still my favorite. The beef is tender and most of all the soup is so fragrant from the herbs and beef. Google map:
2. Holy basil stir fry (กระเพราหมูสับ) at Ung Jia Huad (ร้านอึ้งเจี่ยฮวด) - If there’s one dish that could be the most popular and beloved easy to eat Thai food, it’s holy basil stir fry (with your choice of meat). It’s a dish that always hits the spot. Google map:
3. Green papaya salad (ตำปูปลาร้า) Stall on Sukhumvit - You’ll find green papaya salad on just about every street corning in Bangkok and throughout Thailand. My favorite version is som tam boo plaraa, dressed with fermented fish sauce.
4. Fish viscera curry (แกงไตปลา) at Janhom (ร้านจันทร์หอม) - Southern Thai food is always a favorite of mine, and gaeng tai pla, or a curry made with fish viscera is one of the most flavorful Thai foods of them all. Google map:
5. Jungle curry (แกงป่า) at Pla Mae Nam (ร้านปลาแม่น้ำ) - A dish I just can’t get over, and have to order every chance I have, is Thai jungle curry. It’s an amazing mixture of chilies and herbs, and in this case, fish. This is also one of my favorite restaurants in Bangkok at the moment as well. Google map:
There it is, 5 of my favorite dishes in Thailand. Thank you for watching this video!
