Baldwin Home Museum in Lahaina
The Baldwin Home is a recognizable landmark in the heart of historic Lahaina. The oldest house still standing on the island of Maui was built by Reverend Ephraim Spaulding between 1834-35. In 1836, Reverend Dwight Baldwin, and his family moved into the home.
Rev. Baldwin was a graduate of Harvard College’s Medical School and Auburn Seminary. As Lahaina’s minister, he also served the islands of Moloka‘i, Lana‘i and Maui as government physician, dentist and veterinarian. You can see the tools of his trade in the extension that was his medical office. Learn more at
Lahaina Restoration Foundation partners with Alexander & Baldwin Sugar Museum and Bailey House Museum to offer a Passport to the Past for exploring four of Maui’s popular museums. For one low price of $10, the passport booklet provides admission to the Baldwin Home Museum and Wo Hing Museum on Front Street in Lahaina, Bailey House Museum on Main Street in Wailuku, and Alexander & Baldwin Sugar Museum on Hansen Road in Pu‘unene ($21 value). Information and photos depicting each museum are included in the booklet with an area for stamping the date of entry to each place. Passports expire one year from date of issue and are available for purchase at each museum location.

Blue Hawaiian Helicopters - Maui, Kihei & Wailea Beaches
Blue Hawaiian Helicopters
Check out Maui's South Shore and take in aerial views of the many beaches and resorts in the Kihei and Wailea area.
THE BLUE HAWAIIAN DIFFERENCE There's simply no argument: Blue Hawaiian is Hawaii's #1 helicopter tour company. Blue Hawaiian's aircraft maintenance technicians have received the FAA's coveted Certificate of Excellence, Diamond Award every year since 1998. No other helicopter tour company in Hawaii has ever received this critical recognition. Blue Hawaiian was honored by the FAA for its record 12th straight year in January, 2009, at a ceremony in Honolulu, and the FAA further honored Blue Hawaiian with the very first Certificate of Excellence, Platinum Award. And Blue Hawaiian is the only helicopter tour company in Hawaii certified by the Department of Defense.
Welcome to the Blue Skies of Hawaii. Blue is the only helicopter tour company serving all four major Hawaiian islands: Oahu, Maui, Kauai, and the Big Island. That means wherever you go in the Islands of Aloha, you know exactly how to get the world's finest aerial tours: just remember the color of the sky.
We don't just operate the best equipment, we help develop it. From the ultra-quiet, spacious, and powerful 21st-century Eco-Star helicopter to the breakthrough Garmin G500H technology, which gives our pilots astonishing three-dimensional synthetic vision terrain awareness in less than optimal weather; from our pioneering of multi-camera in-flight video, to designing vastly improved cockpit air-conditioning—Blue Hawaiian is always at the forefront of leading-edge innovations for your safety, comfort, and enjoyment. Because when it comes to our guests, good enough is never enough.
The finest pilots in the sky. Blue Hawaiian prides itself on hand-picking only the finest and most experienced pilots—the absolute cream of the profession—and every one of them is a State of Hawaii Certified Tour Guide. Blue Hawaiian is also the only helicopter tour company in Hawaii with its own state-of-the-art Flight Simulator, and the only one that puts its pilots through annual factory and FAA recurrent training.

The Hawaii Ahupua'a Association is creating places for them to come home, feel at home and to work on the land.
Farm Worker Training and 21st century skills development are part of the program as well as learning Hawaiian Kingdom indigenous culture, language, customs and spirituality.

Known as the “Valley Isle,” Maui is dotted with quaint towns, artist communities and local favorites that have been around for generations. Head to Wailuku for pastries from a “mom and pop” bakery, or head to Lahaina for a taste of Maui’s famed farm to table cuisine. From shimmering beaches and sacred Iao Valley to migrating humpback whales and sunset on Haleakala, it’s not surprising Maui was voted the “Best Island” by the readers of Conde Nast Traveler for 19 years.
Stand above a sea of clouds high atop Haleakala. Watch a 45-foot whale breach off the coast of Lahaina. Lose count of the waterfalls along the road as you maneuver the hairpin turns of the Hana highway. One visit and it’s easy to see why Maui is called “The Valley Isle.”
The second largest Hawaiian island has a smaller population than you’d expect, making Maui popular with visitors who are looking for sophisticated diversions and amenities in the small towns and airy resorts spread throughout the island.
From the scenic slopes of fertile Upcountry Maui to beaches that have repeatedly been voted among the best in the world, a visit to the Valley Isle recharges the senses. But like every good magic trick, you’ll have to see it for yourself to believe it.

[Hawaii] Honolulu Fire Dept. Engine 9 Responding from Kakaako Fire Station!
Captured here is Engine 9 of the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) responding out of Kakaako Fire Station, which is also connected to the HFD Headquarters. Engine Company No. 9 had a busy day that day as they were already on a call when I toured the station, and received another emergency run shortly after returning to the station. It is relatively hard to catch fire engines responding in Honolulu, as most medical calls and non-fire related incidents are handled by the department's aerial rigs. This is done to keep the water carrying engines ready to respond to fires as much as possible, as fires can spread rapidly in the city's structures, mostly due to high winds from the sea. Mahalo (thank you) to the firefighters of Kakaako for welcoming me at their station!

Alex Gupton - The Art of Detail - Bill Wyland Gallery in Lahaina, Maui.
Alex Gupton began his career in artwork twenty years ago while studying business and art in University. A profitable pasttime painting murals soon became his full time profession. Although his background was Graphic Design, and his fine art centers in the tiny detail of pen and ink creations, he soon began to paint large-scale murals. With an amazing flare for Trompe L'oeil (to trick the eye), he soon was traveling the United States painting walls and ceilings for both private and corporate clients.
Most people dream of ‘one day’ being able to pursue their dreams. I live my dream every day. Residing in Paradise with my amazing wife and three great kids, surrounded by dear friends and wonderful family, I am unbelievably lucky, blessed and honored to live this life.
Alex's love for the art of drawing and the valuable lessons provided by years of dedication to his craft have resulted in truly unique pen and ink creations. One must look very closely at the detail in his artwork to fully appreciate and understand it. Lying within and forming the image as a whole is actually a collection of smaller drawings. Scenes ranging from tropical beaches and lush landscapes to wildly stylized creatures all work together to form an image, which may take as long as three months to complete. The beauty and detail of his work will draw you in and keep you absorbed and intrigued with its intricacy.
When a favorite client asked him to create an art peice for the bottom of her pool, the journey into mosaic tile began. That first request turned into the stunning 'Bird of Paradise' signature piece, and set the stage for the many projects that followed. During that first mosaic commission, Alex had found a new love--'painting with glass tile'--and soon was creating custom mosaic art pieces for pools, entryways, backsplashes, or any space that would lend itself to a tile installation. His specialty became water illusions in pools featuring various sea life, including turtles, sharks, and tropical fish, using shadow and light to create a realism not usually found with this media. Our clients imagination is the only limit to our mosaic creations. We have been in the business of catering to our client's artwork needs for years, and relish the new challenges in design for Mosaic Art. We take great pride in bringing our projects in on time and on budget.
The bronze have been in Alex's head for years, and just this past year has he made the time to bring it into reality. The same detail in the pen & ink is now in three dimensions and cast beautifully into bronze with the help of some of the most talented foundry workers in the World.
