Learning to cook Argentine style! Buenos Aires Travel vlog
Signing up for a cooking class in Buenos Aires was a great experience and wonderful way to learn about the food and other great things to see in the city. Thanks to Airbnb, we learned how to make a 3 course Argentine meal, including the various meanings of the empanada folds.
This was our last activity in Buenos Aires before heading further south in Patagonia where lots of wildlife adventures awaited us. I am slow on uploading because as you guys know I still have a real-life job while travelling, but the next videos will be up in a couple of weeks - so have patience as always - which I know you do, because you guys are awesome.

CARLOS GRASSO : INNER STRUCTURES
Film by Eric Minh Swenson.
Carlos Grasso was born in Buenos Aires (Argentina). He lives and works in Ojai, California. Grasso studied Music, Graphic Arts and Painting in Buenos Aires, Paris and Los Angeles. Began as a professional musician (flute) in Paris in the late 70s and 80s, eventually switching to drawing and painting. His apprenticeship started with still-life and portraiture in the classical Old Master's style under the guidance of master painter David A. Leffel. Later on, his artwork evolved towards pure abstraction. Visiting his studio one experiences the broad range of Grasso's work: abstract, representational, minimalist, expressionist, monochromatic, colorful... defining him as a visually insatiable experimental artist.
Grasso's work has been shown and represented by galleries in Santa Fe, Dallas, Carmel (Portnoy Gallery, Gallery Americana, Parkside Gallery and Phillips Gallery of Fine Art), San Francisco, Santa Barbara, Napa Valley, Scottsdale and Ojai.
He is a member of the Los Angeles Art Association (LAAA) and the Ojai Studio Artists (OSA).

I have made many (filleting) paintings as presents for couples or engaged people with the wedding date on. I once made wedding cards for a couple from Northern Ireland. The guy proposed to his girlfriend when they were travelling here (in Buenos Aires). Six months later, they wrote to me from Ireland asking me to design the wedding invitations. I then emailed them everything.

(Fileteado) is an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity specifically because it has enabled us to learn about artists and above all the first ones who didn't have any academic training. It's amazing to see how important the role of (the Catalan Nicolas) Rubio was, a painter who analysed theory. In the 1970s, he analysed (fileteado) artworks in an exhibition, like the composition scheme and colour metrics. How strange is it that a cultural practice (like fileteado) is so technically sophisticated. UNESCO preserves the way of doing things so that it doesn't get lost.
