Day Trip to Boone, West Jefferson, and Blue Ridge Parkway.
Carole and I drove up to the NC mountains. Instead of hiking, our main goal was to hit the Ashe County Dairy to buy cheese and butter. We've found that they make the best butter we've ever tasted. And, of course, Carole had to hit the Mast General Store in Boone on the way up. After that we went to Julian Price Memorial Park for a picnic, then a hike on the Tanawha Trail. Unfortunately, a cold front came through and raked the mountains with heavy rains and lightning. So we had to retreat back to the car.

Mural Paintings in Downtown West Jefferson NC
There are 14 murals in downtown West Jefferson a nice easy walking tour. The first mural that was created was a privately funded mural by a businessman. It's located next to the Ashe Arts Center, was done by a local artist, and was designed to celebrate the history of Ashe County as told through the four seasons of Ashe County. And what that mural did was to open lots of eyes into the value of public art. At that time in 1995 there were empty buildings there were empty storefront, there were on or two other art galleries in downtown West Jefferson. And what we were finding is that the arts a great vehicle and wonderful resource for affecting positive change. There is nothing like a great big painting an outdoor work of art to bring people into that downtown area to let them say Wow! That's really great! They can look at it outside, they can look at it by driving by in their car and again its a very safe way to view art. It was one of those projects that sort of snowballed. Individuals, businesses, organizations, grant funders came together to continue creating the murals. The mural sin West Jefferson had been done by a mix of artists; both from West Jefferson and Ashe County, as well as from across the state. Some regional and national known artists have contributed to this art. The subject matter is also something that is interesting, that's always a collaboration between the building owner, between the Arts Council if we are involved in facilitating this the artist, and a community vision in what we need in downtown. So it might be a history perspective, it might be one that has to deal with diversity and a changing face in what Ashe County looks like. It might be a look at the floral and fauna thats here. It might look at the music or other traditions that are a part of Ashe County. So what you'll see with are 14 murals are very distinct styles, subject matters, themes, artists; and it makes for a beautiful vibrant downtown. Travel video produced by and production sponsored ... 013 Audio Vlog Life: Ashe County North Carolina Re-Post
Ashe County North Carolina
There is a county in North Carolina that is absolutely breathtaking beautiful, and it's Ashe County, North Carolina. The natives are trying to get me to shut up talking about the place because they want to keep it a secret. I cannot blame them, and after this post I will probably never mention it again, because it is a perfect place to hide out. The place is so beautiful each time you go down a new road you want to live in that part too. One day Pat and I were driving down the road, and up ahead the road was about to slide into the valley, so we detoured on a road we had never been on before. The complete detour was nothing but Pat and I owing and awing, and her asking me if I could live in this part of Ashe County. My answer is always yes, but I should not be telling you this because the place may get overcrowded.
The Blue Ridge parkway meanders nearby, and I know of a road I plan to take one of these days, but I may wait until it snows, and take my 4 wheel drive truck down Old North Carolina 16.
Now... I am saying Ashe County, but some of this vista is in adjoining counties, but anyone familiar with the area knows exactly what I am talking about. In my mind as I type this brief blog I am standing probably as the crow flies 20 miles (just guessing) North of Boone, North Carolina. If I was a painter you would be seeing some of that on my Facebook page, but if you follow me on YouTube I have a few videos from up-yonder.
All kidding aside, Tennessee is where I was born, and it is beautiful, but the part of North Carolina of which I speak is the prettiest place on God's green earth.

Trout's Supreme Seafood - Manufacturing Process
Trout's Supreme Seafood History
From a modest venture in 1991, to the state-of-the art facility of today, we’ve made ourselves familiar with the changing tides of the seafood industry. Our founder, Steve Trout, has built a business that takes pride in quality products serving the region for nearly 30 years. Realizing we had bigger fish to fry, we expanded in 2004 in order to accommodate our ever-growing business.
Now Trout’s Supreme Seafood is everywhere. With delivery service across Maryland, we’ve continued to build our business delivering fresh products in central Pennsylvania to West Virginia. Located in New Market, Maryland, we’re ready and willing to bring quality products to grocery stores and restaurants across the tristate area.
A Full-Fledged Seafood Facility
As our business continues to evolve, we’ve become a full-fledged seafood facility where our inventory is carefully monitored and managed 24 hours by the latest technology. Not only are Trout’s Supreme Seafood methods high-tech, they are environmentally sustainable. The delivery trucks responsible for traveling with some of the freshest seafood in the state run using clean diesel fuel. Our fleet is equipped with self-contained reefer units to ensure deliveries are fresh, flavorful and fast.
Over the years we’ve partnered with accountable and quality suppliers around the world. These partnerships give us the first pick of blue crabs in North Carolina and on-site oyster processing from the waters of Washington state.

Popeyes Chicken Sandwich Has Returned
A 28-year-old man was stabbed to de*th at a Popeyes in Maryland on Monday night after a f*ght over the restaurant's chicken sandwich, police said. The stabbing happened at the fast-food chain's location in Oxon Hill, Maryland, about 12 miles south of Washington, D.C. Two men began arguing apparently after one accused the other of cutting in front of him in line while waiting to order the chicken sandwich, a popular menu item that returned to Popeyes restaurants nationwide on Sunday. The squabble spilled into the parking lot outside the packed restaurant where one of the men was stabbed. Police were called to the scene around 7 p.m. local time, and the victim was rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced d*ad about an hour later.

A snippet of a 2009 verse from Eminem has leaked online, where the famed rapper sides with Chris Brown over his assault of Rihanna. The audio is from a recording session for 2009's Relapse, where Eminem raps, Of course I side with Chris Brown, I'd beat a b*tch down too. The track was scrapped for Em's project, but a different version of it eventually turned into B.o.B.'s 2011 track Things Get Worse. Em went on to collaborate with Rihanna on several hit tracks, including 2010's Love the Way You Lie, and Monster.

New Orleans (, locally ; French: La Nouvelle-Orléans [la nuvɛlɔʁleɑ̃] (listen)) is a consolidated city-parish located along the Mississippi River in the southeastern region of the U.S. state of Louisiana. With an estimated population of 393,292 in 2017, it is the most populous city in Louisiana. A major port, New Orleans is considered an economic and commercial hub for the broader Gulf Coast region of the United States.
New Orleans is world-renowned for its distinct music, Creole cuisine, unique dialect, and its annual celebrations and festivals, most notably Mardi Gras. The historic heart of the city is the French Quarter, known for its French and Spanish Creole architecture and vibrant nightlife along Bourbon Street. The city has been described as the most unique in the United States, owing in large part to its cross-cultural and multilingual heritage. Founded in 1718 by French colonists, New Orleans was once the territorial capital of French Louisiana before being traded to the United States in the Louisiana Purchase of 1803. New Orleans was once the third-most populous city in the United States, and it was the largest city in the American South from the Antebellum era until after World War II. The city's location and low elevation have historically made it very vulnerable to flooding, leading to the installation of a complex system of levees and drainage pumps.New Orleans was severely affected by Hurricane Katrina in 2005, flooding over 80% of the city and causing a population decline of over 50%. Since Katrina, major redevelopment efforts have led to a rebound in the city's population. Although, concerns about gentrification, new residents buying property in closely knit communities, and displacement of longtime residents have been voiced .The city and Orleans Parish (French: paroisse d'Orléans) are coterminous. As of 2017, Orleans Parish is the third most-populous parish in Louisiana, behind East Baton Rouge Parish and neighboring Jefferson Parish. The city and parish are bounded by St. Tammany Parish and Lake Pontchartrain to the north, St. Bernard Parish and Lake Borgne to the east, Plaquemines Parish to the south, and Jefferson Parish to the south and west.
The city anchors the larger New Orleans metropolitan area which had an estimated population of 1,275,762 in 2017, making it the most populous metropolitan area in Louisiana and the 46th-most populated in the United States.
