Man dies during commercial rafting trip on Roaring Fork River near Aspen
A man died during a commercial rafting trip on the Roaring Fork River Wednesday, according to the Pitkin County Sheriff's Office.
The man was on a trip with five other rafters and a guide with Aspen Whitewater Rafting, the sheriff's office said in a statement released Wednesday afternoon.
Someone called 911 at about 11:08 a.m. and reported rafters in distress downstream from Stein Park, right outside the City of Aspen, the sheriff's office stated.

Aspen Adventures offer exciting adventure trips and camp experiences for youth and teens between the ages of 9-18. Trips are co-ed with two to three counselors and combine on- and off-campus adventure activities with camping and lodging accommodations throughout New England, the Mid-Atlantic, Mid-west and Western states, Eastern Canada and Puerto Rico during the summer months.
Aspen is located at the Chapel Hill-Chauncy Hall School in Waltham, and this serves as the home base for each program. When a session is in the day trip mode, campers leave from and return to the campus in Waltham each day. Camp hours are 8:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. for all age groups during the day portion of the session. Campers travel to various locations in the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico during the overnight camping portion of each session.

The Drop-In: Rafting the Upper Colorado River

It's the first Drop-In of the summer 2019 season, and we're starting with a splash! On July 7, a Roaring Fork Valley crew rafted the Upper Colorado River from Pumphouse to State Bridge. The river was flowing at over 4,000 cfs and it was a great day on the water!
