STORYLINE:
Passengers were left stranded at Greece's main airport on Tuesday, as a 48-hour general strike got underway.
Hundreds of flights were cancelled at Eleftherios Venizelos airport, outside Athens, because of the action - which is aimed at putting pressure on politicians to reject a new austerity programme that will condemn the country to more years of hardship in exchange for continued bailout funding.
Flights to and from the country stopped at 10:00 am (0800 GMT).
The strike also closed schools, halted train and ferry services, left Athens without public transport or taxis and kept state hospitals running on emergency staff only.
Our hotel provided us with transport. If it had not, I guess we would still be sitting down near the Athens Gate watching what happens, said Katie, a visitor from Florida, who was able to make it to the airport.
The two days of demonstrations were set to continue until lawmakers vote late on Wednesday on a bill to slash 13.5 (b) billion euros (17.3 (b) billion US dollars) from budget spending over the next two years.
The outcome of the vote is far from certain, due to disagreements in the five-month-old coalition government and reluctance among centre-left lawmakers to swallow yet another bitter austerity pill.
But an anti-austerity vote would almost certainly force Greece to default on its mountain of debt, and probably to exit the golden monetary cage euro membership has afforded it for more than a decade.
The deeply unpopular measures include new deep pension cuts and tax hikes, a two-year increase in the retirement age to 67, and laws that will make it easier to fire and transfer civil servants.
The country is suffering a deep recession set to enter a sixth year, and record high unemployment of 25 percent.
If Parliament rejects the package, Greece will lose access to the rescue loans from the European Union and International Monetary Fund that have kept it afloat since May 2010.
The country would then run out of money - as soon as by 16 November, according to the government - default on its debts and, most likely, abandon the 17-member eurozone.
The ensuing hyperinflation an currency depreciation would intensify domestic misery.
The international repercussions would also be severe, amid fears that other troubled eurozone members could follow Greece's lead.

Landing to the Schengen Area EU for the First time | Airports and travel by Mohamed Aboshanab
Europe is a continent that is large but has many independent states. Under normal circumstances, travelling through multiple states should mean having to go through visa applications, passport control multiple times. However, by entering through any of the member states of the Schengen Area, you will generally be able to access any of the other member states without going through passport control checkpoints again. Similarly, by having a Schengen visa, you do not need to apply for visas to each of the Schengen member states separately/individually hence saving time, money and paperwork.
Countries of the Schengen Area include Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland. Microstates Monaco, San Marino and Vatican City are not part of the Schengen Area and have differing formal relationships with it, but they all have open borders with neighbouring Schengen countries and can be legally entered with a Schengen visa. Andorra has no formal agreement with the Schengen Area and maintains permanent border controls, but issues no own visas. Instead, Andorra also accepts a Schengen visa. Therefore, if you enter the territory of Spain, France, or Italy (depending of course on what microstate is your destination), you can enter each of these countries as well.
Countries of the Schengen Area normally issue Schengen visas valid for the entire Schengen Area. They may also issue visas that are marked as valid only for their own territories and are not valid for other countries in the Schengen Area. It is therefore extremely important to check each visa to make sure whether or not it is valid for the entire Schengen Area. Denmark, for example, issues visas that are valid for Denmark only, as well as regular Schengen visas, and a holder of a Denmark-only, non-Schengen visa who attempts to travel to Denmark via, for example, a German airport will be refused carriage at their departure airport (and if not, will then be refused access to transit facilities at the German airport and forced to return to their country of origin). If you are issued with such a visa, your only option is to fly direct, avoiding transit in any other country in the Schengen Area. So check what is says after Valid for: if it says Schengen states in one of the relevant languages, you are OK, bit if it gives the name of one particular country, you are not OK, as you do not have a Schengen visa,

Transfer To Barcelona Cruise Terminal Port From Barcelona Airport - Arriving In Spain For Our Cruise
The Barcelona Cruise Ship Terminal In Southern Spain is one of the busiest Cruise Ship ports in the world rivaling those in Miami and Ft Lauderdale Florida. This video shows you what to expect once you arrive at the Barcelona Airport, also some of the sights along the way between the Airport and Cruise Ship Terminal.
The Barcelona International Airport is also one of the busiest in Europe with over 35 million passengers each year. The Airport itself is an ultra-modern wonder of steel and glass with an obvious design geared towards future expansion. The Barcelona Airport and Cruise terminal are only about 8 miles apart or about a 30-40 minute drive depending on traffic levels. The drive is partially highway and part surface roads with the slowest portion being within the huge port of Barcelona itself.
The Port of Barcelona is visited by at least 15 major cruise ships throughout the year and services approximately 2.6 million cruise passengers per year including those traveling to popular Spanish island destinations. On any given day you may see mega ships from major cruise lines such as Royal Caribbean, Holland America, Princess, MSC, and other European lines such as Aida. It is no surprise that the Cruise terminals are clean, modern and spacious as any found in other major cruise ship hubs. Barcelona seems to be geared for tourism and has invested heavily into making Barcelona a world class destination.
This video is an original work created from video and photos taken on a Mediterranean Cruise from Barcelona in 2013. Ports of call / Destinations included Barcelona Spain, Cannes France, Florence, Civitavecchia, Rome, The Vatican, Salerno, Amalfi, Pompeii Italy, Athens, Santorini Greece, Kusidasi, Ephesus Turkey.

KLM Full Flight Amsterdam to Paris and Breathtaking Landing over Paris
KLM full flight experience from Amsterdam Schiphol to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport. Flight KL1245 or AF8241 is operated by KLM in codeshared with Air France. The total flying time is just about 45 minutes and the flight was operated with a Boeing 737. I flew in Economy class. The video includes announcements from the cockpit and by the cabin crew in both English and Dutch. You can enjoy not only the departure in Amsterdam but also the breathtaking landing over Paris.
Just for the record, I am not affiliated with KLM / Air France in any way and the video is not sponsored. It is intended as a flight experience and not a promotion of the product / services of KLM / Air France.
