Uncovering $1,000,000 Barn Find | Barn Find Hunter - Ep. 16
Just another day on the road for Barn Find Hunter Tom Cotter, finding million-dollar projects. They only made 85 of these, and it needs a full restoration but it seems like most of the parts are there. Can you guess what it is?
In a nearby shop, Cotter discovers a ’41 Lincoln Continental, equipped with a Flathead V-12, and a 1950 Plymouth Suburban two-door, both California survivors. Talking with Shelby, the owner, Cotter learns of Dwayne Bower who describes himself as a guy who “doesn’t collect cars, but has never sold one.” And he isn’t interested in selling his ’57 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz, Jaguar XK120, 1974 Plymouth Roadrunner GTX, the tow truck featured in The Fate of the Furious (aka Fast and the Furious 8), or any other cars now, either.
Cotter arrived in SoCal on a viewer’s tip about the million-dollar find without having any plans. It shows how much you can find just by chatting and listening to locals’ suggestions.

Terry Turner's interview for the Veterans History Project at Atlanta History Center
In this interview, Dr. Terry Turner shares his experiences as a United States Army infantry officer leading a MACV District Mobile Advisory Team during the Vietnam War. Turner wrote the 1985 best-seller Once A Warrior King: Memories of an Officer in Vietnam under the pseudonym David Donovan. He discusses his upbringing on a farm in Colquitt County, Georgia, where his family was land-rich, but money-poor. He talks about attending the University of Georgia during the mid-1960s. At UGA, he studied animal science and trained with the Army ROTC battalion, where he was a top cadet. He says he elected to pursue a Army commission and selection to the infantry because he needed money, he did not want to be drafted, and he did not want a less capable lieutenant to fight in his place while he had a safe desk job. He went to the Infantry School at Fort Benning in 1968, and he tells how his first assignment was as executive officer of a door gunner training company at Fort Rucker. After a few months there, he explains, he attended the Special Warfare School at Fort Bragg for counterinsurgency training, then referred to as CORDS (Civil Operations and Revolutionary Development Support). He then describes his assignment to a MACV District Mobile Advisory Team. He talks about how he and four other Americans lived in a village along the Cambodian border in the Mekong Delta training RVN Regional Forces and Popular Forces, which functioned as local defense forces. He describes the area's culture and subsistence agriculture, as well as the WWII-era weapons issued to the RFPFs. He talks about the training he had received at Fort Bragg. His small unit operated outside regular Army chain of command, he explains, which led to issues securing supplies and medical evacuation for wounded soldiers, in addition to making it hard to relate to most Vietnam veterans. He says he took offense, to how other American units treated Vietnamese civilians, and tells a story of striking a soldier who stole a woman's bike in Saigon. He notes similarities between this and our current wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. He recounts how his unit conducted combat operations in coordination with local forces, frequently using sampan boats to maneuver to overnight ambush sites. He explains the strategic situation that faced his team, whose village was located along a major Viet Cong infiltration route from sanctuary areas in Cambodia. This led to issues with target identification at night, he says. He tells of how he became Senior District Advisor in the area, despite the job typically being reserved for older, more experienced officers. He discusses the responsibilities this role entailed, such as approving all US military operations or strikes within the district. He talks about the social and religious makeup of the district, to include the Hoa Hao Buddhists and Bac Di Cu Catholic refugees. He recounts how difficult it was to communicate his traumatic experiences and memories, and credits the writing process as helping him greatly. He discusses his post-war career. He became a professor of urology at the University of Virginia, and he talks about the lack of veteran representation there. He tells the story of his abrupt exit from Vietnam via Red Cross leave after his father suffered a heart attack. He describes the feeling of isolation he had during his travel back to Atlanta and then home. He relates some cherished memories from Vietnam: handing out candy to children, taking tea with monks at an isolated temple in his district, and a Christmas episode where the village's entire Catholic population came over to the Americans' house and sang carols. In closing, he identifies freedom as the most important American virtue, and talks about specific friends from the war.

Me, a photographer for magazines, we say. Always said if someone has a flag outside, it's usually pretty nice house and helps cheer a lot of sense. Look how interesting that house is. That house. Look how interesting this place says and this is the subject house will show you in a minute. But just so I'll show you here. You're a block and a half from the state highway, 150. So you grew up here. First of all, post office right there. See that gray car is right there. That's post office. What's next? The post office? A bank, of course. What's cross the street? Another bank. It's 2 convenience stores in town. Great little town. It's another much it's a little historic town. Got a couple of antique shops and, you know, it doesn't have much more than that. But it's great because it's nice to live nowhere. Sometimes, you know, you just want to get away from it. 150 make it right 8 and half miles. You're in Danville College Town, left Angola, Bardstown and Louisville and everything. It's really nice. So Perryville isn't big. It's about four blocks on this side, about three blocks on the other side, the highway and you got the historic district and you've got this Craftsman style house for those of you. [00:02:04] If you've got kiddos, really good school system, the Boyle County school system, you can look at school report card online or any of those Web sites and you can see it's very desirable school system and you're in it right here. OK, class coincide so first of all, people just moved. So not everything's hundred ten percent out. You've got wains coding on the ceiling. You've got the old style boards that go this way. Remember, everybody's grandmother had one that was painted battleship gray. Right. Real slick paint. Look how big this porch. Nice. At least six feet wide this way. But here's the interesting thing. Lots of beveled glass. And 4-foot-wide doors, every door is like four feet wide. It's crazy. Let's just go on inside and see what's going on in the house of many doors. So I tell you, the good, the bad, the ugly, right. Where do you see. Foot 4-foot-wide doors.
[00:08:58] Did you see yourself here, all the little roads in Perryville that kids can ride bikes out there? It's not too far to the school. There's a Dollar General here and that's kind of nice to have if you're not familiar with Dollar General. It's like a micro Wal-Mart. They actually have more stores than Wal-Mart does worldwide. Wal-Mart, Wal-Mart's worldwide DA generally has stores in the United States have more stores. So it's like a micro Wal-Mart and they're open 7 days a week from like 8:00 in the morning till 9:00 at night, 10:00 at night. Something like that. So, again, there's the pool. Just imagine that either another pool or this yard all into garden and whatnot. This is the little garage. You know, in my opinion, I'm just being straight up with you. You're my brother or sister. I would tell you the same thing. This is not big enough for regular garage to today's standards. When you turn this into a little guesthouse or a little changing room or a little potting shed or something, a painting house, this is a doll.

Man loses leg by shooting lawn mower full of explosives | USA TODAY
A Georgia man who was videotaped last week shooting at a lawn mower packed with explosives lost his leg in the resulting explosion, authorities say.
According to the Walton County Sheriff’s Department, a deputy responded to a 911 call Saturday about an explosion. The caller reported that 32-year-old David Pressley was shooting at a mixture of ammonium nitrate and aluminum powder in the woods and had possibly blown his legs off from the explosion.

Upstairs, there is a king bedroom with two nightstands and dresser from the Mitchell Gold Manning Collection, multiple lamps, Armand side chair from Mitchell and Gold, LCD TV, Blu-Ray DVD, built-in closets and drawers and a private bath with vanity sink and shower. The second bedroom has a queen bed, dresser, rack for clothing storage, LCD TV, DVD and two nightstands with lamps.
Views of the Gulf from both bedrooms over the rooftops of Seaside. Hall bath has a shower. Both bedrooms share a private roof top patio with a caf? table and two chairs, outdoor Jacuzzi tub and private sunning area with two lounge chairs. Bedding includes down alternative duvets with cotton duvet covers, cotton blankets and multiple pillow choices including down, down alternative and memory foam.
There is an elevator to the third floor entry. Once inside the penthouse, there are stairs up to the bedrooms and roof top patio. We also provide two beach coaster bikes, 4 back-pack style beach chairs, four bathrobes, six beach towels and luggage racks.
