For a first taste of bikepacking, Si's certainly not gone in steady - with an epic 4 day trip from Morocco's capital of Marrakesh to the high Atlas Mountains. And who better to show him the ropes than former Transcontinental Race winner and bikepacking enthusiast Josh Ibbett.

It's 6.30am in a remote, rocky location in the High Atlas Mountains, Simon Richardson is waking up from his first ever Bivvy. That's right, a whole lot of chamois time for the former pro cyclist who has often professed his disliking of 'touring'.
Will the experience change Si's mind? Thankfully experienced bikepacker Josh Ibbett is on hand talk and show Si through how to handle the trip when it gets remote!

And we will employ the services of these traders and mules to move our bikes to our highest pass of tour at 3600 meters

Cycling Marrakech: Atlas Etape on Cannondale Tandem Bike
On April 2016 we cycled the Marrakech Atlas Etape, climbing Louka Monster from Marrakech 496 m to Oukaimden the Moroccan ski resort at 2600m. It was an EPIC RIDE especiallay on a Cannondale Road Tandem!

CYCLING THE ATLAS MOUNTAINS!
Day 3 in Morocco with HotChillee, we take part in the Marrakech Atlas Etape Sportive, which goes up 2000m! After tackling the Atlas mountain range we motorpaced all the way home. One of the best days I've ever had on a bike. Incredible!
The event supports the charity we visited yesterday, Education for All, a fantastic cause helping girls get an education in Morocco.
Marrakech Atlas Etape is an annual cyclosportive starting from the exotic city of Marrakech up to the ski-resort high in the Atlas Mountains and back down again. It is an inclusive event with no aggressive broom wagon. The full ascent will challenge the serious amateur or professional, plus the determined and passionate, and there are several routes to suit all abilities: 140 km, 104 km and 60 km.

Okimden - Marrakech, MOROCCO
Okimden on the high atlas mountain area, which is covered entirely with snow during winter season lies 2 hours drive from marakkech city. This hill region has altitude of 3268m above sea level and is very popular destination for winter sports including snowboarding, skiing and other recreational activities.
