What is the NATO Phonetic Alphabet? Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta....
The NATO phonetic alphabet, officially called the International Radiotelephony Spelling Alphabet, and also commonly known as the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) phonetic alphabet, is the most widely used radiotelephone spelling alphabet in the world. We use this alphabet to clarify communication for maritime operations, domestic and international flights, and NATO Alliance Military Activities.
The system is simple, assigning names to the 26 letters of the English language and making a slight variation of the names of English numbers….

Russian Ship Attempts To Intimidate The U.S. Navy
On January 9, 2020, while conducting routine operations in the North Arabian Sea, USS Farragut (DDG-99) was aggressively approached by a Russian Navy ship. Farragut sounded five short blasts, the international maritime signal for danger of a collision, and requested the Russian ship to alter course in accordance with international rules of the road. The Russian ship initially refused but ultimately altered course and the two ships opened distance from one another.

Patriotic Biker Gang Stops Flag Burning and Chases Away Protestors - NYC Hallowed Sons
Anarchist Weenies burn flag to protest cops, get attacked by bikers, need cops to save their asses- an Irony these Anarchists won't ever comprehend. A group of flag-burning anti-NYPD protesters needed New York’s Finest to save their skin from a gang of angry bikers who tried to pummel them in a Brooklyn park for setting Old Glory ablaze Wednesday. The fiery stunt by a few dozen members of the group Disarm the Police led to a chaotic scene at about 8 p.m. in Fort Greene Park, when the activists enraged 40 members of the Hallowed Sons Motorcycle Club by roasting the flag on a tiny barbecue grill.
“They took off like little b—hes,” said one biker. “They lit the f–king flag and took off running once they got slapped once or twice.”
The anarchists had announced on social media that they had planned to burn the flag in protest of NYPD policies, drawing a large group of flag-waving counter-protesters, including the bikers.
While it’s illegal to openly burn anything in Fort Greene Park, the self-styled anarchists managed to find a loophole in the law that allows cooking in closed barbecue grills.
Thus, they started to roast the flag, but they didn’t burn it for long. One of the bikers rushed forward in a fit of rage and kicked over the grill, sending embers flying. He then doused it as members of the pro-flag crowd chanted “USA! USA!”
The bikers then started trying to rough up the protesters — who were quickly saved by members of the same police force that they criticize.
The protesters were shielded by the cops and escorted out of the park.
“I served in the Marines,” said counter-protester Brian Christopher, 23. “We defend this flag. We are ready to die for it. When I see people burning it and showing complete ignorance, it’s very offensive.”
No arrests were made in the scuffle, and the group’s flag-burning stunt went up in smoke.

Anti-NYPD group Disarm the Police staged a flag-burning protest on Wednesday night for what they claimed was a stand against the Charleston church massacre - but the activists had to be rescued by none other than New York's finest.
The scene at Fort Greene Park in Brooklyn descended into madness when the fiery stunt was crashed by a group of bikers opposing the flags being burned.
Disarm the Police had announced on their Facebook page that they planned to light up both American and Confederate flags - saying they both 'symbols of oppression' - with over 350 people responding as attending.
However 40 members of the Hallowed Sons Motorcycle Club turned up at the scene about 8 pm to make sure no more flags were burned.
NYPD officers who were at the scene in front of the Prison Ship Martyrs Monument - a memorial to the more than 11,500 American prisoners of war who died in captivity aboard British prison ships during the Revolutionary War - as a precaution then had to step in to make sure no fights broke out.
According to the bikers, the protesters needed that protection.
'They took off like little b----es,' said one biker told The New York Post.
'They lit the f---ing flag and took off running once they got slapped once or twice.'
But it wasn't just the bikers that turned out opposing the Disarm the Police protest.
Some pro-flag demonstrators also stepped in.
John Carroll, of Ridgewood, was booed by the crowd as he went in and took one of the flags that was left on the ground to burn.
'If you're going to burn the American flag, you're going to run the risk of running into people like me,' Carroll told NBC New York.
'I will stand by this flag all the time.'
Diane Atkins added: 'We believe in what the United States of America stands for, and the flag that people have died to protect it.'

Words: William Whiting, 1860. He wrote the lyrics as a poem for a student about to sail for America.
Music: Melita, John B. Dykes, in Hymns Ancient and Modern, 1861. Dykes fittingly named the tune after a locale associated with a Biblical shipwreck. Melita was the
island the Apostle Paul reached after his ship went down (Acts 28:1); today we know it as the isle of Malta.
William Whiting (1825-1878)
In America, Eternal Father is often called the Navy Hymn, because it is sung at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. It is also sung on ships of the British Royal Navy and has been translated into French. It was the favorite hymn of U.S. President Franklin Roosevelt and was sung at his funeral in Hyde Park, New York, April 1945. The Navy Band played it in 1963 as U.S. President John Kennedys body was carried up the steps of the U.S. Capitol to lie in state. Roosevelt served as Secretary of the Navy, and Kennedy was a PT boat commander in World War II.
The original words were written as a hymn by a schoolmaster and clergyman of the Church of England, the Rev. William Whiting. Rev. Whiting (1825-1878) resided on the English coast near the sea and had once survived a furious storm in the Mediterranean. His experiences inspired him to pen the ode, Eternal Father, Strong to Save. In the following year, 1861, the words were adapted to music by another English clergyman, the Rev. John B. Dykes (1823-1876) , who had originally written the music as Melita (ancient name for the Mediterranean island of Malta). Rev. Dykes' name may be recognized as that of the composer given credit for the music to many other well-known hymns, including Holy, Holy, Holy, Lead, Kindly Light, Jesus, Lover of My Soul, and Nearer, My God to Thee.
In the United States, in 1879 the late Rear Adm. Charles Jackson Train, an 1865 graduate of the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis was a lieutenant commander stationed at the Academy in charge of the Midshipman Choir. In that year, Lt. Comdr. Train inaugurated the present practice of concluding each Sunday's Divine Services at the Academy with the singing of the first verse of this hymn.
The hymn, entitled Eternal Father, Strong to Save, is found in most Protestant Hymnals. It can be more easily located in these hymnals by consulting the Index to First Lines under Eternal Father, Strong to Save. The words have been changed several times since the original hymn by Rev. Whiting was first published in 1860-61. One will find that the verses as now published differ from the original primarily in the choice of one or two words in several lines of each verse.

Meet Fallen USAF Female Fighter Pilot Capt Amy Svoboda Killed while her A-10 Crashed on 27May1997

Capt. Svoboda was flying an A-10 during a night training sortie in a tactical training mission at the Barry M. Goldwater Air Force Range when her jet crashed on May 27, 1997--20 years ago this Saturday. She was the Air Force’s first female combat pilot killed on a mission. Amy and Rep. Senator Martha McSally served together in the 354th Fighter Squadron at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base.
Senator McSally wrote on her page:
17 years ago tonight I was leading a 4-ship flight of A-10s on a night vision goggle (NVG) tactical training mission on the Barry Goldwater Range west of Tucson. It was a very dark night with no horizon to tell up from down and NVGs were still fairly new for us. I turned and saw a fire on the ground on the range South of us, then heard the emergency call for help from the flight lead. After the shock and disbelief, I quickly discovered one of the A-10s had crashed and soon realized it was Capt Amy Svoboda's plane since I heard each of the other pilots on the radio except for her. I took over as on-scene commander for the search and rescue while her flight lead went to air refuel. We hoped she had ejected before the crash. Over and over I called her on the radio and got silence in return and we looked all over through our NVGs for any signs of life. We hit bingo fuel and had to fly back to DM not knowing her fate--a very lonely and quiet flight. We found out the next morning that she had perished. Amy was an exceptional officer and pilot who was respected and loved by many. I got used to being the only female after transitioning into fighters, so it was great to have a wingwoman in the squadron when she arrived. Her death cut short a promising career and full life. She served faithfully and honorably, and paid the ultimate sacrifice. Her family remains in Tucson and they are in my thoughts and prayers today and so often in these last 17 years since that dark night.

After graduating from the Air Force Academy in 1989, Captain Svoboda attended undergraduate pilot training at Reese Air Force Base in Lubbock, Texas. She graduated in 1990 and remained as an instructor pilot in the T-37 trainer aircraft with 35th Flying Training Squadron. In August of 1993, she served as a T-37 controller in the Runway Supervisory Unit. Later, in June 1995, she served as the executive officer for the 64th Operations Group at Reese. In April, 1996, she transferred to Davis-Monthan for A-10 training and was a member of the 354th Fighter Squadron of the 355th Air Wing where she was serving when she was lost. Captain Svoboda was killed during a night training mission on the Barry M. Goldwater Air Force Range near Gila Bend, Arizona. She was flying an A-10A Thunderbolt II (#78-0690/DM). There is a finding that she became disoriented during the mission and crashed into the desert. She was the first female fighter pilot killed. At the time of her loss, she was a training officer in her squadron, having logged more than 1,400 hours piloting jets.
